Chapter 352 I'm the Queen of Shameless

Layla shot a dirty look over her shoulder, "You and Winona? Same breed of troublemakers!"

Rebecca, not missing a beat, shoved the restaurant's hand towel into Layla's mouth. She'd been wiping her hands with it and, in her rush, brought it along. Now, it had a new purpose.

She glared at Winona, who was squatting by the bathroom door, looking all intense. "What the hell are you doing down there?"

"Looking for hair."

Winona had a lightbulb moment, though she wasn't sure if she was onto something.

Previously, when Eva went to Regal Oaks, she persuaded Winona and Frank to do a paternity test. Judging by her reaction, she genuinely hoped that Winona was a child of the Turner family.

Knowing Eva, she wouldn't quit until she got what she wanted. Even though Eva wanted a few strands of Winona's hair, she didn't have to do it herself.

As soon as she left, Layla, who'd been MIA for ages, showed up. Way too convenient.

She claimed she was there to teach her a lesson for Carlos, but Carlos had been locked up for a while, and she only showed up now, ready to throw down.

Rebecca said, "Huh?"

"Can you check if Layla's got any hair on her?"

"Sure thing," Rebecca grabbed a fistful. "Yep, plenty of hair. Kinda jealous, honestly."

She ran a hand through her own hair. Yeah, comparison was the thief of joy.

"Unless she's bald, she's got hair. What's your plan?"

Winona looked at her and said, "She yanked my hair earlier. Bet she's up to no good with it."

No way she was letting that slide.

Rebecca gave Layla a thorough pat-down and, sure enough, found some hair with follicles in her clenched fist, clearly ripped out.

Layla, with the towel gagging her, struggled and mumbled, "Mmmph! I'm calling the cops. This is illegal!"

"Go ahead, I'll just tell 'em we're besties playing a game."

"Mmmph!"

Rebecca shot her a look. She had a strong presence, running a store with shady stuff meant she couldn't afford to be soft. One look from her could make anyone back down. "I'm the queen of shameless, and I hate being disrespected. Insult me again, and I'll deck you."

Layla shut up real quick.

After making sure there wasn't a single hair left, Rebecca still wasn't satisfied. She called a waiter for a comb and went through Layla's hair meticulously until no more strands fell out.

Winona picked up all the hair from the floor and sink and torched it with a lighter.

Their antics landed them both in the police station.

Layla screamed about being assaulted, while Winona and Rebecca played it off as a joke between friends.

The cops didn't have time for this nonsense. After taking their statements and giving them a stern talking-to, they said, "Call your folks to bail you out."

The only person Winona could call was Zachary.

Man, it was a real bummer not having anyone to bail her out.

Winona turned to Rebecca and whispered, "You calling your mom, or should we get Zachary to spring us both?"

"Let's go with Zachary. If my mom finds out, she'll totally lose it."

Winona sighed, "Sorry for dragging you into this mess."

Rebecca waved it off, "Nah, my mom's rage isn't your fault. She's still pissed 'cause I put ink in the tea of that fancy guy she set me up with and told him it was a new product. If she knew that chick was out to get you, she'd probably storm the station and we'd all end up in the slammer. Better not stress my dad; he can't handle it."

Winona was speechless for a sec, then touched.

"What did that guy do to tick you off so bad?"

Rebecca cleared her throat and mimicked the guy, "I make $200k a year. After we get hitched, my mom wants you to stay home and take care of the kids and me. I've got two houses in the city and a storefront back home, so we need a son to keep the family biz going. After we tie the knot, I hope we can live with my folks. They raised me, and my mom's health is bad, so you'll have to pick up the slack."

Winona cut her off, "Okay, okay, that's enough."

Zachary showed up fast, with Anthony in tow.

After the bail stuff was sorted, Anthony said, "You're free to go."

Winona thought he'd leave with them or head out first, but he went straight to Rebecca, "Can't you go a day without causing chaos?"

Did that sound kinda... caring?

Winona shivered. Must've been Zachary's harsh words messing with her head. Clearly, it was just an annoyed scolding.

Rebecca's face darkened.

Seeing her shiver, Zachary wrapped an arm around her shoulders, pulling her close, "You cold?"

He frowned and asked the nearby officer, "Why's the AC cranked so low?"

The rookie officer replied, "It's set to normal. Everyone else is still hot."

Winona glanced around, seeing everyone in short sleeves, some even fanning themselves. Thanks to Zachary's comment, all eyes were on them.

So embarrassing.

She quickly wriggled out of Zachary's hold and walked out of the station.

Rebecca stifled a laugh and teased, "Mr. Bailey, maybe it's a personal problem? By the way, Winona told me she's not planning to remarry. You haven't even tried to woo her, probably haven't even sent flowers. But then again, a stingy guy like you, who left his ex-wife in debt after the divorce, wouldn't be willing to give anything."

The more she talked, the more pissed she got for Winona, glaring at Zachary and Anthony, who was just as guilty.

If it weren't for him, Winona wouldn't have been so wrecked by that nightmare marriage, scared of tying the knot again.

But if she were still with Zachary, she wouldn't see fear of marriage as a problem, maybe even hoping she'd fear it more.
