Chapter 68 Surrounded by Men

Winona thought that Zachary was just acting out again and rolled her eyes before walking forward. Possessiveness was a man's natural flaw, not allowing others to desire anything or anyone that belonged to them.

Understanding this, even if Zachary seemed jealous right now, Winona remained unfazed. However, just as she had walked a few steps, her arm was grabbed. The man's grip was strong, and Winona felt that her wrist was about to be broken!

She let out a hiss, her brows furrowing in pain, and her voice changed as she said, "Let go of me." Only then did Zachary seem to come to his senses and loosen his grip, though not completely. His face remained cold, and he spoke sparingly, "Let's go."

"I'm at work..." But Zachary didn't give her the right to refuse; he pulled her along forcefully.

"Mr. Bailey! Winona is your wife, don't you give her any money to spend?" Layla's questioning words came from behind, making it seem like she was defending Winona against a scumbag boyfriend.

Zachary halted his steps and slightly turned his head. Layla was actually a little afraid of him, but in order to make Winona's life difficult, she approached him with a stubborn attitude, "Winona can't even afford a painting that costs 100,000 dollars, and she needs other men to pay for her. Isn't that mistreating her?"

Winona glanced coldly at Layla, who was like a persistent cockroach. Zachary's gaze fell on the painting she was holding, and he calmly asked, "Paid for by Matthew?" It wasn't a difficult deduction considering their conversation.

"I bought it myself," Winona didn't want to involve Matthew, so she patiently explained, "Matthew only helped me with the transaction. If you don't believe me..."

Originally, he thought she would ask him to go find someone, but Winona unexpectedly pulled her hand forcefully out of his grasp with a cold expression.

Winona turned around and walked towards the exhibition area. At this moment, her phone rang. She took out her phone, completely unaware of the man following behind her, or perhaps she noticed but couldn't be bothered to acknowledge him.

Today, she wore a pair of soft-soled flat shoes. Zachary was over half a head taller than her, so he could easily see the caller's name displayed on the screen when he looked down.

"Matthew, Alex, your love life is quite rich," Zachary spoke with a sarcastic tone, while anger raged within him. As a man, he understood the intentions of men... That look Alex gave her, he was clear Alex had ill intentions.

Winona and Alex had a good relationship, but only during work hours. They didn't have much interaction privately, so she assumed that the call from him right now must be work-related.

She originally wanted to get rid of Zachary before answering the call, but the man behind her stuck to her like a shadow, showing no intention of leaving. Winona grew impatient and said, "I'm at work, stop following me."

Zachary sneered, "Are you going on a date with him?"

Winona suppressed her temper and couldn't be bothered with him anymore. She answered the call, "Alex, what's up..."

Before she could finish her sentence, the phone was snatched from above her head. Winona turned around and saw Zachary, with a grim expression, hanging up her call, and then he shut down the phone completely. Taking hold of her hand, he started walking away.

Frowning, Winona tried to push and resist, but ultimately, it had no effect. She was still being dragged away from the merchandise area by this man.

Winona gritted her teeth and said firmly, "I'm still at work, I can't leave."

"What, the rich second-generation can't even afford a janitor for their exhibition? Need to find foreign aid?"

He obviously knew that Winona wasn't a janitor. Saying this was just his way of venting his dissatisfaction, deliberately mocking her.

As they passed by the stairwell, Matthew happened to come down from upstairs and noticed that something was clearly not right between the two. His eyebrows raised slightly, "Didn't we agree to meet on the second floor?"

Zachary replied, "Since you haven't come up for so long, I came down to check."

During their conversation, he handed Winona a blank check.

Winona was stunned. Was this meant to be a breakup fee?

Zachary could tell what she was thinking and sneered, "You owe me several billion dollars, and you want a breakup fee? Give the money back to Matthew."

Winona cursed him in her mind several times in a row before managing to maintain her calm on the surface. She didn't take the check he handed her and said, "I can handle this money on my own."

His gaze turned icy as he stared at her, his eyes filled with broken ice. "Seems like you have a lot of money then, so you probably don't care about three billion dollars in interest. I'll have Anthony take care of it tomorrow..."

When that name was mentioned, Winona's scalp tingled. She snatched the blank check from Zachary's hand and quickly filled in the numbers, thinking maliciously about adding a few more zeros but it was just a passing thought.

She handed the filled check to Matthew, "Matthew, thank you for what you did just now."

Her voice was gentle, with a gentle smile.

This attitude was completely different from the one she had towards Zachary, where she wished she could turn into a opossum and kill him!

Zachary stood calmly on the side, but his eyes were filled with coldness.

Matthew didn't refuse, and before he could say anything after receiving the check, Winona was taken away by the man.

Outside the venue, the weather was gloomy.

It had been drizzling since the morning, and now the rain grew heavier.

Zachary's car was not parked far, but even so, Winona was soaked.

After getting into the car, unable to help herself, she shivered and used a few tissues to wipe the water off her face. "If there's something, please hurry and say it. I still have to go to work. Give me back my cellphone."

She didn't know if Alex had anything important to tell her.

The man narrowed his eyes as he looked at her...

Due to the rain, her face turned pale from the cold, and her lips had a slight blue tint. Her impatience in her eyes became even more apparent.

He seemed a little dazed, thinking about her smile towards Matthew just now... It seemed like it had been a long time since he had seen that smile on this face.

The woman who used to have eyes full of anticipation when she looked at him, now had no patience to speak a word to him properly. She either mocked him or was eager to distance herself from him.

Zachary pursed his lips, started the car, and turned the air conditioning to the maximum, but the engine hadn't warmed up yet, so the air blowing out was cold.

Winona shivered from the cold and was about to get angry when Zachary turned down the wind speed to the minimum and adjusted the direction of the air vent.

After a while, he said softly, "Why didn't you ask me for money if you don't have any?"
