Chapter 518 Eight-Pack Abs

Zachary chucked his phone aside, rubbing his temples in frustration. As soon as he shut his eyes, images from Frank's phone popped into his head. Those overly edited photos—how could anyone think they looked good?

The more Zachary thought about it, the more ticked off he got. He grabbed his phone, found a similar photo online, and sent it to Winona. Zachary: [Who's hotter, him or me?]

Winona was deep in a game, right in the middle of a crucial boss fight, her fingers flying across the screen. When Zachary's message popped up, she accidentally clicked on it, switching to WhatsApp.

Seeing the message, Winona wished she could dig out Zachary's brain and use it as the boss. What was up with him, being so bored he was comparing looks?

But she didn't even have time to curse him out. She hurried back to the game, only to see the screen in black and white with a big "game over" message. Her teammates were livid.

Fuming, she reopened the WhatsApp chat, took a good look at the overly edited photo, and let loose on Zachary. Winona: [Are you out of your mind? Or did you drink too much seawater? Why the heck are you sending me a picture of some guy and asking who's better looking?]

Winona: [Are you planning to join a gigolo club? Do you have an eight-pack? Have you perfected your sex skills?]

If Zachary had sent something serious, Winona wouldn't be this mad. Winona: [He's better looking. Give it up.]

Zachary read the text, his lips tightening. Zachary: [You really like eight-packs that much?]

Winona: [Don't you like eight-packs?]

Guys, whether they had muscles or not, all dreamed of having an eight-pack. Their love for abs was no less than that of women.

Zachary remembered the last time he fought with Austin. When Austin lifted his shirt, he had an eight-pack, firm and solid. And now Austin was going to see Winona. Men could be drawn to a woman's beauty, so what if Winona was attracted to Austin's abs?

Winona had no clue about the chaotic thoughts swirling in Zachary's mind. She only noticed that he was acting weird today. Her anger from the game had faded; she only played occasionally and didn't care much about winning or losing.

Before she could ask, Zachary sent another message: [I'm going to work out.]

Winona: [What?]

Zachary: [Abs. I'm going to get an eight-pack. Don't look at others.]

Especially those shirtless guys in Frank's phone photos. They didn't look like decent people. Sending such revealing photos on a first date, he was probably a playboy.

Winona had no idea why Zachary suddenly started talking about abs. She had mentioned liking eight-packs to annoy him a long time ago, but it was just a casual remark. If it weren't for her good memory, she would have forgotten.

She wasn't that fixated on six or eight packs. She thought Zachary's six-pack looked great, with clear, hard lines, balanced, and full of strength, making one want to touch it.Winona: [Sometimes the number of abs is genetic. If you're born with six, you can't train to get eight. Six looks great too.]

If she weren't so dismissive, Zachary might have felt comforted. Zachary: [You don't have to settle.]

Winona rolled her eyes. Winona: [Then go work out. Don't show up in front of me until you have an eight-pack.]

Zachary: [No way. Where are you now?]

Before he got his abs, he couldn't let her meet Austin, at least not alone.

Winona was about to say her dad's place but changed her mind. Winona: [At Evander and Lydia's.]

Zachary: [You used to call them Mom and Dad.]

Winona: [That was before. But we're divorced now. It's not appropriate to call them Mom and Dad. You warned me before to be mindful of my status and not to cling to relationships.]

He vaguely remembered saying that.

That was because Winona kept bringing up divorce, and he was annoyed and angry, so he spoke without thinking.

Zachary felt a bit guilty but had to explain. Zachary: [You insisted on the divorce back then. I was angry when I said those things.]

Winona could imagine his aggrieved look through the screen. The anger from losing the game had long vanished. She buried her face in her arms, unable to hold back her laughter.

Hearing her laugh, Lydia looked up. "What's making you so happy? Did something good happen?"

"No, just chatting with a friend." Winona didn't mention Zachary to avoid upsetting Lydia.

At the teahouse, Zachary, seeing Winona hadn't replied for a while, couldn't help but send another message: [Wait for me at home.]

This time, Winona replied quickly. Winona: [Are you coming back?]

Zachary: [Yeah.]

Timothy was abroad now and couldn't keep an eye on Zachary like before. It wasn't hard for Zachary to shake off the people secretly watching him, but it would upset Lydia again.

Winona: [I'll ask Sarah to make more food.]

After thinking for a moment, she added. Winona: [I'll wait for you.]

She turned to Lydia. "Mom, can you ask Sarah to make a few more dishes? We have a guest coming."

Lydia was delighted. "You seem so happy. Is it a good friend? Any dietary restrictions Sarah should be aware of?"

"No, he eats everything." Winona didn't say who was coming, planning to surprise Lydia.

However, Austin arrived first. Winona had planned to go out and get something when Zachary arrived, but Austin didn't call and just walked in.

Lydia had told the gate guards that Winona's friend was coming and not to stop them. So when Austin said he was there to see Winona, they let him in.

Winona was surprised to see Austin at the door. "Why are you..."

"Come in and sit," Lydia said, having a good impression of Austin. He was good-looking, polite, and a soldier—what was not to like?

Austin knew he was at the Bailey family estate, so he brought gifts for Lydia and Evander. "I brought you a heating pad, sleep aid essential oils, and incense. This is for Evander..."
