Chapter 339 My Rival in Love Is Sleeping at My House
Winona knew exactly what Zachary was up to, playing the victim to get her sympathy.
She really wanted to crack open his skull and see if all he thought about was sex.
Winona glared at him, smirking. "Didn't expect you to be so self-aware. Keep reflecting. I'm going to sleep. Don't call or video me. If you bother me again, forget about passing your probation."
Zachary was speechless.
He opened his browser and typed: [What to do if my rival in love is sleeping at my house?]
He thought it was a weird situation, but someone had actually asked the same thing. The top answer was: [Sleep with your rival and make them yours.]
Zachary was so mad he threw his phone. Who came up with this answer?
The next day.
Winona slept in and skipped work.
When she went downstairs, she saw the family doctor leaving Austin's room. "Dr. Stewart, how's his injury?"
"The wound reopened a bit, but it's not serious. He's got a good constitution. After a night's rest, his fever's down. But he needs to stay in bed and avoid moving around. Reopening the wound isn't good for healing and will leave a big scar."
Winona said, "Dr. Stewart, why don't you stay at the villa for a few days? In case he has a relapse, it’ll save you the trips."
"Mr. Bailey already called this morning. He told me to use the best medicine and stay close to him. He even hired a servant to prepare nutritious meals to help him recover faster," the doctor said. "Mr. Bailey is very concerned about his injury. He's taken care of everything. Mrs. Bailey, you don't need to worry."
Winona glanced at the kitchen and saw someone busy. She smirked. "Well, his wound reopened because Mr. Bailey beat him."
The doctor was speechless.
Winona was about to check on Austin when the doorbell rang. She answered the call from the security booth. "Mrs. Bailey, someone is here to see you."
Eva's arrogant face appeared on the screen. "Let them allow me in."
"Don't..."
Before she could finish, Eva showed a photo. "Does the person in the photo look familiar?"
Winona stared at the photo, biting her lip. "Let her in."
Eva was pushed in by a bodyguard, sitting in a wheelchair.
Winona sat on the couch, eating the nutritious breakfast prepared by the servant, and got straight to the point. "Who are the woman and child in the photo to Xavier?"
Xavier Murphy was the driver who hit her mother years ago.
He got 15 years for hit-and-run, drunk driving, and other charges. He was about to be released soon.
After suspecting something fishy about her mom's death, Winona visited him in prison, but he refused to see her.
Xavier's parents died early, his relatives cut ties with him, he wasn't married, and had no kids. He was a loner. Winona couldn't find any leads, and he insisted it was just an accident, so she decided to wait until his release.
But in the photo Eva showed, Xavier was with a woman and a two-year-old child. It was a family photo.
"I know you're looking into your mom's death. This is Xavier's woman and son. They didn't marry, and after Xavier went to prison, they left Dreamopolis. The kid took his mom's surname."
No wonder she couldn't find anything all these years. She had thought Xavier was really a loner.
"I can give you their details, but I have a condition. I want to live here."
Winona was shocked. "What?"
Eva patted her cast. "My leg's broken, I need care. I don't like hospitals. You have servants, doctors, bodyguards, and a nice place. I'm very satisfied about living here."
Even without seeing the doctor today, she knew this was standard for a wealthy family, and deducted there must be a family doctor in this household.
Winona coldly mocked, "Most importantly, Zachary is here, right?"
Eva's ambition to steal a man was obvious, yet she kept up a fake facade.
Eva looked hurt. "Winona, you misunderstand me. I really want to get along with you this time. We might even be cousins. Uncle Frank protects you so much, don't you want to know why? There's a simple way. Give me a few strands of your hair, and I'll get some of Uncle Frank's for a paternity test."
Winona coldly replied, "Not interested."
Eva was stunned by her blunt refusal. "Do you know how much wealth the Turner family has? Aren't you tempted at all?"
The Turner family was the richest in A City, and A City was one of the top economic cities in the country. Winona couldn't earn that much even if she restored artifacts until her hands were swollen.
"Do you know how many people are in the Turner family?" Even if Winona was part of the Turner family, she might not return. If she wanted money, she'd rather win over Zachary than scheme within the Turner family. "I agree to your condition, but you must guarantee the information is 100% true."
Letting her stay was no big deal.
Besides, Austin was bored here. Having someone around would be good.
Eva said, "Deal."
When Zachary came home from work and opened the door, he saw Eva sitting on the couch in his living room.
He couldn't believe it and stepped back into the yard, looking up at the two-story villa to make sure it was his house. Then he walked back in. "What are you doing here?"
Eva smiled. "Winona let me stay here."
