Chapter 656 I Like You Now
Winona glanced at her phone, scrolling through the absurd titles: "Signs a Woman Loves You," "If She Never Gets Angry, She Doesn't Love You," "If a Woman Doesn't Want Your House, Car, Jewelry, or Money, She Doesn't Want You Either."
One even read, "Top 8 Sex Positions Women Love."
The titles were so ridiculous, they practically made her eyes hurt.
She looked up at Zachary, who was eating his meal without looking at her, probably still sulking because she hadn't been jealous of him and Maeve.
With a determined look, Winona unfollowed each of those influencers.
Some of the illustrations and headlines were so shocking that she had to bring her phone closer to delete them secretly, fearing that Frank, sitting next to her, might think she was reading some erotic short stories.
After unfollowing them, Winona tossed her phone to Zachary.
He glanced at it, only seeing that she had opened WhatsApp, but he couldn't see what she had done, so he didn't think much of it.
Frank looked at him and casually asked Winona, "Did you check out the photos I sent you last time? Any of them catch your eye?"
Winona thought of the photo with just a pixelated blur and couldn't help but facepalm. It was the first time her dad had sent her a picture of a naked man. "Dad, please, no more of those pictures."
Zachary, though seemingly focused on his noodles, was actually eavesdropping with his ears perked up.
So, the photos he saw on Winona's phone last time were from Frank?
"What pictures? I got those from reliable sources. They're all young talents from Mode City. Do you think I just grabbed random internet photos? Do you think I have no taste?"
Winona fell silent.
She hadn't expected it to be a real-life show.
Zachary chimed in, "Dad, you've been scammed. What young talent takes naked photos? Those are definitely guys trying to attract rich women."
Frank was so angry he almost threw his fried egg at Zachary's face. "Shut up!"
Zachary pursed his lips and stayed silent, thinking about how much it would cost to bribe his future father-in-law to at least not cause trouble, even if he wouldn't help.
After dinner, Frank had to rush to the airport. He had come specifically to see Winona after seeing the news.
His company had taken on a big project recently, and he was very busy. He also wanted to gradually shift the company's focus to Dreamopolis and was currently wrapping up the final activities.
Zachary was still sulking over last night's incident, waiting for Winona to comfort him. But after a while, he didn't hear anything.
When he turned around, he saw that she was already in the car. "Don't look at those ridiculous posts anymore."
The car was already running. After saying that, she released the brake.
Winona drove off, glancing in the rearview mirror. Zachary was still standing there, looking at her with a mix of grievance and pity.
She thought for a moment, then reversed the car back to Zachary. With a serious expression, she said, "Zachary, you don't need to compare yourself to Matthew. Everyone expresses their feelings differently at different ages. You don't need to compare yourself to others. The person I like now is you."
After a pause, she added, "And seriously, stop looking at those useless online posts. If you have any doubts, just ask me directly."
As soon as Winona left, Zachary took out his notebook and carefully wrote down: "May 17, Winona confessed to me." He even wrote down her words verbatim.
At the museum, Winona was on the phone with Dylan as she walked in. "If you keep sending Zachary those ridiculous posts, you can kiss your bonus for the next three years goodbye."
Dylan had just arrived at the office when he heard this shocking news. "Mrs. Bailey, I swear, I never sent Mr. Bailey any relationship advice. He asked me how to woo a woman, and I've never been successful at that, so I told him to watch romantic dramas. Don't all girls love those? My mom watches them every day and laughs her head off."
Winona walked into her workspace and saw breakfast on her desk. She paused and said to Dylan, "Just make sure he doesn't watch them."
After hanging up, she turned to Michael. "Didn't I tell you not to prepare breakfast for me?"
Since Michael became her assistant, he had been bringing her breakfast every day. After she refused, he stopped for two days, then continued.
Before Michael could respond, one of the interns from his batch joked, "Ms. Sullivan, Michael isn't just bringing breakfast; he's bringing his heart."
The older staff at the museum knew Winona had a boyfriend, the CEO of the Bailey Group, but the new interns didn't. They were still in the throes of young love, seeing romance everywhere.
Michael's frequent breakfast deliveries were a classic college move to woo a girl.
As the intern joked, Michael's eyes were on Winona.
Seeing her frown, he pretended to scold, "What nonsense are you talking about? I'm bringing breakfast to Windy because she's helped me a lot. It's my way of saying thank you."
The surrounding interns groaned, "Michael, you're raising the bar for all of us. Now if I don't bring breakfast for my mentor, I feel so rude."
After some playful banter, everyone went back to work.
Winona told Michael, "Stop bringing me breakfast. It causes misunderstandings, and I usually eat at home before coming here. It's a waste."
"But besides bringing breakfast, I don't know how else to please you."
"Why do you need to please me?"
Given the Green family's background, they were among the top families in Dreamopolis. Winona couldn't think of any reason why Michael would go to such lengths for her, even using the word "please."
Michael saw her wariness and sighed, gesturing to the other interns. "They came in with me, and now they can assist their mentors. But I'm still either eating or playing games, and I don't even know all the tools yet. So I thought if I got closer to you, you might teach me more."
Winona was silent.
She realized she was at fault. She had never had an assistant before and wasn't used to having someone around while she worked.
Plus, with Michael's prestigious background, she assumed he was just here for a brief stint and didn't treat him as an assistant.
"Winona, do you not want to mentor me?"
Winona: "Do you really want to learn this?"
