Chapter 479 I Want to Pursue You

Zachary's good looks didn't match his cold demeanor as he absentmindedly rubbed the casing with his thumb, his eyes icy.

After a beat, a faint smile played on his lips, and his voice turned playful. "Alright."

With Timothy watching closely, Zachary dialed Winona's number. The mechanical voice on the other end was loud enough to hear even without speakerphone: "Sorry, the number you have dialed is temporarily unavailable."

He was still blocked from last time.

"I can't get through," Zachary said, just as Timothy shook his phone, the 'beep beep' sounds filling the air. "Last time I went to the Bailey Group to find Winona, we exchanged contact info. Looks like you've been blocked."

Timothy's voice had a smug edge to it.

"Yeah," Zachary said, unfazed. Being blocked by Winona didn't seem to bother him. He even glanced down at the document in his hand.

Timothy asked, "Did you piss off Winona? Want me to smooth things over for you?"

Without looking up, Zachary replied, "Just having this face is enough to piss her off."

He added, "If your wife died, and then someone who looks exactly like her kept showing up, reminding you of your loss, wouldn't you be annoyed?"

Just as Timothy was about to respond, the call connected, and Winona's voice came through. "Hello, who is this?"

"Winona, it's me. Are you free this afternoon? I..." Timothy glanced at Zachary, who still looked calm. He didn't believe Zachary could stay that way and said, "My brother wants to invite you for coffee. He has something important to discuss."

There was a long pause on the other end, but Timothy wasn't in a rush. He had waited this long; a bit more wouldn't hurt.

He enjoyed watching his prey struggle more than the kill itself.

Winona finally responded, "Something important? Has he decided to return the project he took from the Bailey Group recently?"

Her tone was all business, no personal feelings.

Timothy said, "If you really want it back, it's not impossible."

Winona asked, "Where should we meet?"

In a busy café, perfect for afternoon tea, Zachary sat like he owned the place. Winona spotted him immediately.

She walked over and greeted, "Mr. Ramsey, Timothy."

She had no strong feelings about Timothy before, but after hearing about his dog abuse from Evander, she was now repulsed.

Yet Timothy was all smiles, looking up at her with a bright, innocent grin. "Winona, what would you like to drink?"

Winona paused and said, "Hot milk, please."

She was dressed loosely today, with a small pillow around her belly, making it look bigger.

Zachary's eyes lingered on her abdomen for a few seconds. How had it grown so much overnight? But the internet said that after four months, the fetus developed quickly.Timothy's eyes were glued to her belly, his fingers curling around his coffee cup, excitement flickering in his gaze. "Winona, are you... carrying Mr. Bailey's child?"

He almost slipped and said 'my brother's.'

Winona instinctively glanced at him, and their eyes locked across the table. She could see her reflection in his pupils.

His eyes were smiling, but deeper down, they were empty, like a bottomless pit.

Winona immediately thought of the bloody little dog Evander had mentioned, and she shivered. In Timothy's eyes, she was probably the next little dog.

She responded vaguely, "Yeah, aren't we here to discuss cooperation? What does Mr. Ramsey want in exchange for returning the project he took from the Bailey Group?"

Zachary hadn't said a word since the beginning. If he wanted to see her, he wouldn't bring a creep like Timothy along, so it was likely Timothy was blackmailing him.

This invitation might be a test of her relationship with Zachary.

Zachary lifted his eyelids, his gaze filled with mockery and disdain, and let out a scornful chuckle, as if he were looking at a fool. "Would Miss Sullivan be willing to return what you have already taken in?"

"Then why did you call me out? Is this fun for you? Wasting time," Winona said, getting ready to leave. At that moment, a foot stretched out from the opposite side, gently rubbing against her leg.

He was wearing leather shoes with a hard toe, but his movement was light, as if afraid of hurting her.

Was this a tease?

Zachary and Timothy were sitting close together, so Winona couldn't tell whose foot it was. She hadn't noticed their shoes when she arrived, but they were both in suits and shirts, so they must be wearing leather shoes.

Winona suppressed her instinct to look down. If it were Zachary, looking down would give her away.

Although this move was a bit low, what if Zachary liked this kind of thrill?

After all, his methods of pursuing women were all learned from TV dramas, and this kind of scene often appeared in dramas.

And to see clearly, Winona would have to lift the tablecloth.

The foot slowly moved up her leg. Winona looked at them; both men's expressions remained unchanged, looking open and normal.

Winona smiled slightly at them and leaned back, but when the foot came up again, she kicked the other person's shin.

She regretted not wearing high heels today; the damage wasn't high, and the space under the table was too narrow, affecting her performance.

So this kick seemed full force but didn't hurt the other person much.

Winona kept watching the reactions of the two men opposite her, but there was no reaction; their expressions remained unchanged from beginning to end.

Then Timothy slightly lowered his head before quickly looking up at Winona, a faint blush creeping across his face as if he were shy. "Winona, actually, I'm the one who asked you out today. I like you, and I want to pursue you."
