Chapter 445 Twins

After dinner, Anthony was the first to leave. To dodge any nagging, Rebecca quickly said goodbye to her parents and dragged Winona out. "Thank God you were there today, or my mom would've nagged me to death," she said.

Winona replied, "I think she's pretty happy with Mr. Lewis."

Rebecca sighed, "She sees every guy as a potential son-in-law now, always worried I won't get married."

Winona asked, "So, you really don't have any feelings for Mr. Lewis?"

Anthony was rich, handsome, tall, successful, and scandal-free. Aside from his sharp tongue, he was super patient with Rebecca, basically the perfect husband.

Rebecca was about to start the car but paused, dropping her playful tone. "It's not that I don't like him; I'm just being realistic. I don't want to waste my energy on someone who doesn't like me back."

"He didn't come today to meet the parents; he was forced to apologize by his aunt," she explained. "That's my mom's friend. Yesterday, he asked me to marry him—not because he likes me or actually wants to marry me, but because he's at the age where he should get married, and I happen to be the least annoying woman he knows. That's how we ended up here."

She continued, "Even though he's young, he is so old-fashioned. He has to get married by a certain age, following that outdated mentality from our parents' generation. What's next, if he lives past the average lifespan, is he supposed to just die?"

Winona was left speechless. It was a bit much, but it made some sense.

Rebecca's sharp tongue could probably only be matched by someone as undefeated as Anthony.

That night, Winona crashed at Rebecca's place. They finally had a chance to catch up and they talked until midnight. The next day, their eyes were swollen, and they looked utterly exhausted.

Looking so rough, Winona decided to put on some light makeup. Ever since Evander announced her pregnancy, she hadn't worn makeup, and her skills had gotten rusty. But Frank had invited her to lunch, and if he saw her looking this bad, he'd definitely start nagging her again.

Winona used to see Frank as decisive, composed, and distant, but now he was no different from any other nagging father. Whenever he saw her looking a bit off, he thought she wasn't doing well with the Bailey family. Especially since she gave up artifact restoration to go into business, he always sighed over his collection in front of Winona, even though he said he'd support any decision she made.

Frank had picked a restaurant from Winona's favorites. After ordering, he got straight to the point. "What's the deal with that younger son from the Ramsey Group?" he asked.

Rumors were spreading that Nicholas looked a lot like the missing Zachary, and people were guessing he might be Evander's illegitimate son.

Frank continued, "Have you asked Evander about this? If he is an illegitimate son, it needs to be dealt with quickly to avoid complications."

Winona replied, "I haven't talked to him about it yet. Maybe he's not an illegitimate son."

Frank said, "Then what, a twin? There's no record of Zachary having a brother. With the Bailey family's status, they wouldn't skip prenatal checkups, and they used a high-end private maternity hospital. Such a bizarre thing couldn't happen."

Frank had been hanging out in Mode City lately and only popped into Dreamopolis every now and then. He hadn't seen Nicholas in person and was just going off the rumors.

"He..." Winona started to explain to Frank but then noticed two people walking in.

One was Nicholas, and the other was Abigail, the woman she met at Austin's place who claimed to have amnesia.

Since then, Austin hadn't mentioned her again, so it seemed like it was all sorted out.

Frank saw Winona's distraction and turned to look. He saw a guy who looked a lot like Zachary leading a woman inside. "Is that the younger son from the Ramsey family?"

They were sitting in a corner, kind of hidden by the decorations. Nicholas and Abigail headed to a private room without noticing them.

Once the waiter left the private room, Abigail frowned and said, "Mr. Ramsey, just get to the point. I'm not into beating around the bush."

She had been at a fashion event showing off her designs when she bumped into Nicholas, who then invited her to lunch.

Nicholas poured her some water with smooth, relaxed movements. He then said, "I hear the new president of Horizon Enterprises is pretty tight with the daughter of Horizon Enterprises. But she hasn't been seen since her marriage."

Abigail stared at the swirling tea, her eyes going blank for a moment. Then she looked up with a smile and said, "If you're curious, you should ask them. I'm curious too, but I don't know these high-society secrets, nor do I spy on the daughter of Horizon Enterprises to see why she hasn't left her house."

Nicholas looked at Abigail calmly and dropped a bombshell, "Ms. Watson, are you really okay with this?"

Abigail looked up reflexively, her face showing disbelief. She wanted to say something but bit her lip and held back. Her lips, bare of any makeup, had deep teeth marks.

Nicholas noted her reaction and said, "Horizon Enterprises is your father's hard-earned business. Are you really okay with watching it fall into someone else's hands? That guy married his childhood sweetheart but publicly claims to have married you to better control Horizon Enterprises. Your uncles are probably still working hard for him, completely fooled."

Hearing this, Abigail laughed bitterly. If that were true, would she have to pretend to have amnesia and cling to Austin?

When Abigail's father was alive, those people seemed loyal. Once he was gone, they each had their own ambitions.

Abigail asked, "Mr. Ramsey, did you bring me here just to provoke me?"

Nicholas responded, "I can help you take back Horizon Enterprises, but in return, I need Horizon Enterprises to do something for me."

Since Abigail's identity was already out in the open, there was no need to pretend. She thought for a moment and said, "If you help me take back Horizon Enterprises, I'll sell it to you at 20% below market value."

She didn't like the business world and wasn't cut out for it. Horizon Enterprises would go bankrupt in her hands sooner or later.

She could find a business-savvy guy, but after everything she'd been through, she realized she couldn't fully rely on anyone. It was better to have the money in hand.

Nicholas shook his head and said, "I need a public legal representative, someone completely independent of both the Ramsey family and the Bailey family."

Hearing this, Abigail was silent for a while before asking, "I can agree, but I need to know—am I negotiating with Nicholas or Zachary?"
