Chapter 246 Winning Back His Wife
Facing Zachary's chilly gaze, Samuel restrained the shock on his face, took a sip of wine, and only spoke up after a while, "No, but for your physical ailments, you should see a professional or maybe have some Viagra."
Sexual dysfunction really hurt a man's pride.
Normally, even if he and Zachary exchanged a few words in jest, it was just banter between brothers. If this turned into a real issue, those jokes they used to make casually wouldn't come out so easily.
Always calm and composed, able to face any storm with ease, Samuel rarely stumbled over his words, but this time, he hesitated a bit before continuing, then lowered his head and gulped down two more glasses of wine.
Zachary looked at him as if he wanted to dunk his head directly into the wine, gritted his teeth, and burst out word by word. "There's nothing wrong with my body."
He had all the reactions and impulses a man should have, but he always got stuck at the final step.
Samuel elongated his voice and responded, "Physically fine. So, you are having a psychological issue. Is it only like this with Winona? What about other women?"
"Samuel," Zachary snatched the wine glass from his hand, and said, "you can leave. Drinking like there's no tomorrow, aren't you scared you'll end up drinking yourself to oblivion?"
Samuel's hand got wet from the spilled wine. He initially wanted to mock him, but considering his inability to make love, he held back the words that were on the tip of his tongue. "If you don't want to change women, then just tell Winona. Nowadays, even Platonic love is acceptable. Maybe she truly loves you and is willing to accept your flaws."
In his heart, however, Samuel thought, 'with your fiery temper, if I were Winona, I wouldn't want to be with you.'
Zachary pursed his lips, despite his words, his countenance showing no sign of improvement. In spite of Samuel's attempt at solace, it seemed tinged with a dissonance that made each word ring harshly.
What did he mean by 'flaws'?
Seeing Zachary's silence, Samuel cleared his throat and asked again, "Or have you already told her? She couldn't accept it, right?"
Zachary, looking weary, said, "She divorced me because of this."
"She was just waiting to get away from me. If I tell her that it's not that I don't want her, but I can't make love to her, she'll probably grab a broom and sweep me out."
Confession would just made it more difficult for him to win her back.
Samuel raised his hand to his forehead, remaining silent for a moment.
They didn't turn on any messy lights. The warm yellow light shining on their heads shrouded their features in the shadows of their short hair, making them indistinct.
Zachary gritted his teeth. "Are you laughing at me?"
"No." Samuel's voice sounded a bit hoarse and unusually slow. "I drank too quickly and got choked."
Yeah, right!
Being accustomed to all sorts of things, Samuel quickly regained his composure. "Don't you like her? Why did you get stuck at the crucial moment when everything went well?"
Even though they were brothers who talked about everything on ordinary days, they wouldn't delve into each other's private matters. They knew Winona and Zachary got married because of a one-night stand, but the specific reasons beyond that were unknown.
He wasn't a pervert, interested in other people's bedroom affairs.
Zachary's face darkened as he hesitated for a while before saying, "As soon as it comes to the final step, I remember the time I hurt her in the hotel before. She bled a lot and later had to stay in the hospital for two days. The mere thought of these matters makes my palms sweaty, weakens my resolve, rendering me powerless to act further. Moreover, she harbors a strong aversion towards intimacy in the physical sense."
Although Samuel didn't want to mock him, he couldn't help it. "Are you stupid? You already lack practical experience and technical skills, and you're not gentle. If I were Winona, I wouldn't just have an aversion. I would give you a sound thrashing."
Zachary said fiercely, "If you were Winona, I doubt I'd even want to look at you."
Samuel was speechless.
Why bother quibbling with a fool?
"I have the contact information of a psychologist here. I'll forward to you later. Maybe there's still hope."
The next day, Winona went to the Watson family before heading to the villa.
She called ahead. When she arrived, Nova was arranging flowers. "Winona, you're here! Come and take a look at how I arranged these flowers. I've only been learning for two days, and your uncle, well, he's not one to appreciate such things, all he can say is 'looks nice.'"
Winona placed her gift on the coffee table, walked over, and glanced at the almost completed bouquet. "Uncle isn't lacking in appreciation. It's just that your floral arrangement is indeed exquisite, surpassing even the aesthetic sense of someone like me who has studied art professionally."
Although Nova knew this was a bit exaggerated, but who didn't love compliments? She wasn't a masochist, enjoying being nitpicked. She immediately smiled, "You're so sweet, if..."
Her expression changed, steering the conversation. "Why did you suddenly think of coming to see me today? Could there be ulterior motives, yet you're too embarrassed to say?"
This statement had a double meaning.
Winona didn't hide it. Although Nova seemed like a homemaker, being able to manage the Watson family meant she wasn't an ordinary person. An heiress of a wealthy family was typically required to learn certain essential skills from a young age, and beating around the bush would only annoy people. "Aunt, do you know the villa located halfway up Ethereal Peak?"
Nova was trimming rose branches. Upon hearing this, her finger accidentally pressed on a thorn, piercing her fingertip. She frowned and let out a hiss.
Winona hurriedly said, "Where's the first aid kit at home? I'll go get some alcohol to disinfect it for you."
"Don't bother. It's just a small injury. It's common to get pricked while trimming roses. I don't even know how many times I've been pricked in the past few days. Why did you suddenly ask about that villa? It has been abandoned for many years, and it is said to be not very clean. There used to be some residents around, but they've all moved out one by one."
Winona still found alcohol to spray on Nova's hand. "Whose property is it, Aunt?"
"It seems to belong to an overseas businessman, who has been abroad for many years, probably dead. He hasn't returned for so many years, leaving the property unmanaged."
"Someone has moved into that villa recently." Winona looked at Nova. "I took on a job, and the employer is the owner of that villa."
"Impossible..." Nova's response was decisive. Seeing Winona's puzzled look, she immediately reverted to her usual gentle demeanor...
