Chapter 470 He just couldn't Finish Peeing
Watching Zachary try so hard to prove himself, Winona couldn't help but mess with him a bit. She thought, 'You really think you can fool me? Your story's got more holes than Swiss cheese, and you still think you're slick.'
Winona said, "Mr. Ramsey, isn't it the one who doubts that has to provide evidence? I don't doubt you now."
Hearing this, Zachary let out a long sigh of relief and grinned. "So you believe me now?"
"I've always believed you, Mr. Ramsey," Winona said with a smile. "I've been out long enough. If I don't head back, they'll start to worry. Are you planning to keep holding on to me like this?"
Realizing that words weren't going to help, Zachary just pulled her into his arms and leaned down to kiss her.
The rich aroma of wine lingered between Winona's lips and teeth. Zachary kissed her eagerly, almost impatiently prying open her lips, entwining her tongue in a deep kiss.
It was restrained and oppressive, yet somewhat aggressive.
Winona was forced to lean into his embrace, enduring his plundering kiss.
When the kiss ended, Zachary released her, cupping her face and pressing his forehead against hers. "Do you recognize me now?" he asked.
Winona was speechless.
She rubbed her bitten lips, the skin on the back of her hand stained with a bit of red. Glaring angrily at the nervous Zachary, she said, "Mr. Ramsey, please show some respect for my ex-husband. He's still out there at sea, unaccounted for. And here you are, making moves on his wife."
Winona quickly turned her head away, unable to hold back her laughter.
She pretended to sob, suppressing her laughter. Just as she put on a serious face and turned to speak, Zachary couldn't help but say, "Then I'll take off my pants and show you. The scar from the snake bite last time is still there."
Winona had always wanted to take off his pants before but never succeeded. Now it was his turn to show her voluntarily.
Winona's pupils widened in shock, and her finger trembled as she pointed at Zachary. "How can you be so lewd?"
Zachary remarked, "Didn't you always want to take off my pants before?"
"When did I ever want to take off your pants?" Winona protested. "I didn't! Don't accuse me of that. I'm not interested in what's under them."
In the private room, Matthew, noticing that Winona had been gone for a long time, began to worry. He frowned, got up, and headed out to find her.
Austin also stood up and said, "Going to the restroom? Let's go together."
Matthew wasn't familiar with Austin, but he always maintained his politeness. He didn't show any impatience toward Austin's overly familiar behavior and responded coolly, "Winona hasn't been back for a while. I'm worried she might be in trouble. I'm going to go look for her."
Austin responded meaningfully, "Oh."
Then the two left the private room and walked towards the small terrace. Austin handed Matthew a cigarette and remarked, "Buddy, Zachary was your childhood friend, but you're already hitting on his woman."
Matthew retorted, "Didn't you invite Winona to dinner with the same intention?"
Not really.
Austin, though not a model of virtue, always kept his word. When he said he wouldn't pursue Winona any longer, he truly let it go.
Even if he couldn't completely let go, he would wait a couple of years—at least until Zachary was entirely out of the picture—before broaching the subject again. But Austin didn't bother explaining. They weren't close, and what he thought was none of Matthew's business. "I'm different from you. Zachary and I weren't friends."
Thinking of Nicholas's face, which resembled Zachary's, and the way he looked at Winona, Austin wondered if Zachary was truly gone. Austin continued, "Even if he's not dead, I'll still go after Winona."
Hearing this, Matthew fell silent.
Behind them, they heard unsteady footsteps. Both turned to see Timothy, who had been slumped over the table, now approaching them.
Earlier, Timothy had been insistent on searching for Nicholas, but Matthew had forcefully kept him in place. To their surprise, he had risen again after a brief pause.
Austin frowned, thinking, 'He's not a kid anymore, yet he's still so clingy to Nicholas.'
Timothy had waited for them to walk a bit before coming out, but the two hadn't gone far. The restaurant had only one corridor, so he couldn't avoid them and had to pretend to be drunk.
The bug in Nicholas's pocket was either silent or filled with the sound of running water. Unable to bear it, Timothy decided to come out and check.
The first time, Matthew had stopped him. After waiting for them to leave, Timothy finally came out of the private room, only to run into them in the hallway.
Matthew glanced towards the small terrace, frowned, sighed almost imperceptibly, and then resignedly walked towards Timothy, helping Timothy back to the private room.
His actions weren't forceful but left no room for refusal. Matthew said, "You're drunk. Don't run around. The floor is slippery. If you fall, Nicholas will be heartbroken," he said.
The floor was carpeted, so even in sneakers—let alone on roller skates—it wouldn't be slippery.
Timothy looked at Matthew with a pitiful expression, trying to free his hand from Matthew's grip. If it weren't for the upcoming operation, he wouldn't be pretending to be drunk.
Now he was in a passive position. They weren't even familiar with each other. Even if Timothy forcefully pulled away, it wouldn't matter. But who had the strength of a bull when they were so drunk they couldn't walk straight?
Thinking of this, Timothy remarked, "Nicholas has been out for a long time and hasn't come back. I'm afraid something happened to him. I want to find him."
Austin yawned and walked towards the private room. He said, "What could happen to him in the restroom? The worst thing is he can't finish peeing."
His tone was casual, and his walk matched it, not at all like a soldier. "Compared to that, your situation is more serious; if you slip and hit your head, you're done for," he said.
Hearing this, Timothy didn't respond.
After getting him back to the private room, neither of them mentioned looking for Winona again. A few minutes later, Nicholas returned, his face as expressionless as ever, giving no hint of his mood.
Seeing Nicholas, Austin nudged Timothy. "Look, he's back! I told you he just couldn't finish peeing, but you didn't believe me. This is Dreamopolis—what could happen in a restaurant? If you really care about him, go buy him some kidney medicine."
Nicholas remained silent.
Although he didn't know the whole story, he could guess from the conversation that Austin was mocking him again.
Winona returned shortly after Nicholas. Noticing they had finished eating, she asked, "Are you ready to go?"
At that time, Matthew and Austin stood up simultaneously and naturally walked towards her, saying in unison, "I'll take you home."
Zachary, who couldn't yet shed his false identity as Nicholas, remained silent.
