Chapter 34 Honey, I'm Not Hungry
Zachary's eyes darkened. Who would dare to think of gathering evidence of his affair?
"I was only lurking here to catch you off guard, Miss Clark. I never intended to harm you..."
"Did you get the pictures?" Zachary asked.
"No, Mrs. Bailey wanted photos of you both in bed. She said she wanted to leave you with nothing and post the pictures online so that Miss Clark's reputation would be-"
Zachary's eyebrows and eyes were calm, showing no emotions, but there was a hint of hostility emanating from him...
The commotion caught the attention of the hotel security, who arrived to find Zachary had already let go. "Take him to the police station," he instructed.
The security swiftly escorted the person away.
Zachary called Dylan, briefly explaining the situation and asking him to handle it.
He looked at Fiona and spoke in a calm tone, "The person who was following you has been caught. You can rest easy now."
Fiona raised her chin and had no intention of letting it go. "So, how do you plan to handle Winona? She sent someone to track me and even attempted to publish my private photos online. That's an illegal act."
Zachary's expression remained unchanged, his tone still distant. "This is merely one person's claim. We need to investigate further to ascertain the details. It's late, you should get some rest."
After saying this, he walked away, leaving Fiona standing there, lost in her thoughts for a long time.
During the following days, Winona went to work in the studio during the day and was busy repairing Fiona's painting at night. She slept only six hours a day and barely had time to eat.
That night, she received a sudden call from Rebecca. Before she could even speak, she heard an angry outburst through the phone, "That scumbag not only refuses to divorce you but also has an affair with his mistress. Doesn't he fear retribution for such actions?"
Winona had been engrossed in examining those intricate things all day. When she finally looked up, the ceiling seemed to be spinning. She instinctively asked, "What?"
"Don't you know? Zachary was caught by paparazzi going to the hotel where Fiona lives! Although they didn't spend the night, he stayed for quite some time before leaving. They seemed to have had a fight, as Zachary looked gloomy when he left the hotel... Fiona, that venomous snake, only Zachary, a masochist, would treat her like a precious treasure."
"Is that so..." Winona's tone didn't reveal whether it was good or bad news. She hadn't had time to keep up with the gossip lately.
"The news was suppressed right after it came out, but luckily, I took some screenshots. I'll send them to you later. They will be evidence for our future lawsuit against him!"
Hearing about a lawsuit, Winona couldn't help but laugh and cry at the same time.
It's not like it's a scandalous photo; it can't be considered evidence. Besides... does she even have the means to sue Zachary now?
Just as she was thinking, Anthony called. Winona frowned involuntarily at the sight of Anthony's name. She told Rebecca and then ended the call, answering, "Mr. Lewis."
"Mrs. Bailey, I apologize for disturbing you at this hour." Probably due to his profession, Anthony's voice sounded cold and impersonal. "Mr. Bailey hopes that you can repay that money within this month."
For Winona, this was like a bolt from the blue. It was already mid-month, and half a month's time wouldn't be enough to come up with three hundred million dollars, even if she emptied herself.
That man obviously did it on purpose!
Winona couldn't help but laugh bitterly, "And what if I can't repay it?"
"That would be considered a loan to you, and the interest will be calculated according to the bank's rates for late payments."
Three hundred million US dollars in monthly interest was an enormous sum for her! She didn't say much to Anthony, as he was only relaying someone else's message. After hanging up the phone, she dialed Zachary's number directly, wanting to ask him what he was up to.
But the call was immediately disconnected after two rings!
Winona was so angry she felt like grinding her teeth. She didn't call Zachary again, but she knew that the matter of losing money was no joke.
She glanced at the calendar, and amidst her worried thoughts, she noticed a special day...
An idea formed in Winona's mind.
The next day at noon, she made plans to go shopping with Rebecca, with a clear destination in mind; A boutique dress shop.
"When did you start thinking about wearing dresses?" Rebecca was puzzled.
Winona selected a few styles and said, "It's almost my mother-in-law... madam's birthday, and I'm choosing a gift for her."
Although Lydia lacked nothing, it was the thought that counted, and Winona had other intentions as well.
Upon hearing that the dresses were for Lydia, Rebecca couldn't help but sigh, "Zachary really has a kind mother. Otherwise, for all the sins he has committed, he would've been struck by lightning by now!"
Winona agreed with this point.
She picked up a dark green dress and asked, "How about this one?"
Lydia had fair skin, a good temperament, and was well-maintained, without an ounce of excess fat. This style, with a cinched waist, suited her well.
Rebecca took a look and said, "It looks good, quite suitable for your mother-in-law..."
Before she could finish her sentence, a slender hand reached over and snatched the dress from her, saying, "Please wrap this up for me."
"This is the one we picked, why are you..." Rebecca followed the person's arm and, upon seeing their face, burst into laughter, "No wonder you like to snatch things, turns out you're a mistress, used to snatching men?"
The person snatching the clothes was Emily, and standing beside her was Fiona.
These two were like poisonous snakes.
"Miss Davis, please watch your words. Without evidence, I can sue you for defamation," Fiona glanced at her coldly, her face showing a hint of arrogance, "Taking something after paying isn't considered stealing. Now that I've bought it, it's mine."
The last sentence seemed to have a different meaning, and for a moment, Winona didn't know whether Fiona was referring to the dress or a man.
Just as Winona was about to say something, Rebecca didn't mince her words and snatched the clothes back, handing them to the shop assistant, "Wrap it up, we'll take them."
Every dress in this store was a designer original, and each style had only one piece. The shop assistant took the clothes but hesitated for a moment.
Fiona took out a black card directly from her bag and said, "I'll pay ten times the price."
Rebecca raised her chin, "I'll pay twenty times."
Fiona smirked, a hint of provocation in her smile, "Miss Davis, should this be what Winona wanted to buy? You immediately suggest twenty times the price, but have you considered that she can't come up with that much money in her current situation?"
Furrowing her brows, Winona wondered how Fiona knew about her situation. Did Zachary tell her about the three hundred million dollars?
The person who took out the card this time was Winona, with the sole intention of giving this dress to Lydia.
"Swipe the card."
Seeing that she was really going to pay, Fiona's expression changed from indifference. "You don't have to clash with me just because of money."
Winona smiled at her, "It's not me who can't get along with money."
Who suddenly grabbed something and who suddenly raised the price?
Rebecca didn't want to talk to a person like her. She pulled Winona towards the cashier, but as they passed Fiona, she bumped into the woman's shoulder as a warning.
But unexpectedly...
"Ah..."
Fiona suddenly cried out in pain, staggered, and fell to the ground.
She held her spine, biting her lip tightly, as if the pain was unbearable in an instant!
Emily's face changed drastically. She raised her hand and slapped Rebecca, "Do you know how important her body is? What kind of thing are you to dare push her!"
Fiona was her biggest cash cow. Who knows how much she cared about Fiona's health during this period, even putting her dance practice on hold for fear of any mishaps.
But this woman dared to bump into her and make her fall!
Rebecca was not someone to be bullied. She slapped back with her hand, "You're nothing but a slut descended from whores! You want to blame me? Then let me show everyone what happens to mistresses!"
Speaking, she slapped the pitiful woman on the ground...
