Chapter 568 Restoring Identity

The crown Eva donated months ago was still sitting in the glass case, untouched.

Winona had a special attachment to the artifacts she worked on. Once she started, she wanted to see it through to the end. If someone else took over midway, it felt like someone had taken her child. She wondered if others felt the same.

Caleb waved the group over and said, "They've been waiting for you to come back to start the restoration. This crown has been on hold for a while, and now that you're back, I feel a huge weight lifted off my shoulders. Get started as soon as you can and aim to finish it quickly."

With that, Caleb left, not wanting to waste a second of their time.

When the crown was first brought back to the country, it caused quite a stir. Both domestic and international restorers were watching closely. If the restoration failed, it would be a huge embarrassment, and even high-level officials were paying attention.

Before Winona could say anything, Caleb was already at the door and out of sight.

The team leader patted Winona on the shoulder. "Windy, thank goodness you're back. We didn't dare start without you. It just didn't feel right."

Winona looked at the kind, smiling man in his fifties. This wasn't praise; it was flattery.

In their field, while there was less scheming, the master-apprentice tradition was strong, emphasizing respect for elders and teachers.

Winona clasped her hands together in a pleading gesture. "Team leader, if you keep flattering me, I'll have to do a backflip right here to celebrate the project's restart. Seriously, if you want more rest, just say so. But without you all, I might finish this crown by the time I retire. Then I'd be famous for taking a lifetime to restore one artifact. I'd be a legend."

Her self-deprecating joke lightened the mood considerably.

After a brief meeting, Winona dove into her work. When she finally looked up, it was lunchtime. She had two hours for lunch, so she ate while scrolling through Facebook and saw an interview with Wyatt.

"My youngest son, Nicholas, passed away two years ago. The current president of the Ramsey Group is the missing president of the Bailey Group, Zachary."

This revelation caused a frenzy. Reporters and netizens went wild. Rumors that Nicholas was Zachary had been circulating, but Nicholas was so low-key that he was hard to reach, and he refused to answer any questions unrelated to business.

Reporter asked, "Is this true? Is Mr. Ramsey the missing Mr. Bailey?"

Wyatt replied, "Yes."

"Since he's your son and he's in Dreamopolis, why hasn't he returned to the Bailey family? Why stay with the Ramsey family and become its president?"

"Because he has amnesia and doesn't know he's Zachary. To be precise, he was hypnotized to believe he's Nicholas."

Hypnotized? Amnesia? Believes he's Nicholas?

The reporters were stunned. If not for the bodyguards, they would have shoved their microphones in Wyatt's face.

"Since you knew he wasn't Nicholas, why did you let him take over the Ramsey Group? Did you hypnotize him? Are you trying to leverage the Bailey Group to save the Ramsey Group?"

The more they thought about it, the more it made sense. Since Zachary became president of the Ramsey Group, the Bailey Group had lost several deals. It seemed likely that knowing it was his son, the Bailey Group had secretly helped.

Winona was so engrossed she forgot to eat.

Wyatt said, "I didn't hypnotize him; Timothy did. The Ramsey Group may still bear the Ramsey name, but Timothy is the real decision-maker."

Wyatt didn't mention the illegal fundraising to avoid backlash, fearing people would think he was using Nicholas to shift blame onto a dead man.

To make his story more credible, he presented documents signed by Timothy and phone recordings, though Timothy had used a voice changer. Experts confirmed it was him, and an authoritative institution certified it.

Whether people believed it was up to them.

Shortly after Wyatt's interview, the Bailey Group issued a statement condemning Timothy and providing a mental health evaluation and a paternity test proving Evander and Nicholas were father and son. They promised to help the police recover the money Timothy had illegally transferred abroad.

The internet exploded with discussions.

Regardless of opinions, Zachary's identity was restored.

Dylan watched the interview, and nearly moved to tears. After all these years, he hadn't recognized his boss. Not only that, he had obstructed Zachary and Winona's relationship. If anyone deserved to be fired, it was him. If anyone should be sent to Zephyria, it was him.

He had seen Zachary's new assistant, who was highly competent. Compared to him...

Dylan felt increasingly despondent. He wasn't worried about being fired but about whether he could stay in Dreamopolis.

Lost in thought, he heard the elevator ding.

Since Winona left, Dylan had become the chairman's assistant. Hearing the elevator, he instinctively turned and saw Zachary emerge.

Even in a wheelchair, Zachary's tall, commanding presence was unmistakable. How had he not recognized him? "Mr. Bailey."

Dylan rushed over. "You're finally back. You have no idea how excited I was when I saw the news. I almost... gave a grand... salute..."

The last words stumbled out as he noticed someone standing behind Zachary.
