Chapter 336 It's His Child?
At the hospital.
Before heading upstairs, Winona grabbed a boxed meal from the convenience store downstairs.
The reporters were still in the ward.
As soon as Winona walked in, Eva looked eagerly at the door. When she saw it was just Winona, she looked away. "Winona, I didn't expect you to come so late. Why are you alone? This place is so remote. What if something happens?"
Anyone would think they were close friends.
"No, he's parking the car downstairs," Winona said, pulling out a cheap-looking takeout box from a plastic bag. "Didn't you say you were hungry? I brought you dinner. Here, let me feed you."
Winona smiled and brought a spoonful of rice to Eva's lips.
The food looked old and probably pre-made.
Eva's smile stiffened, and she pressed her lips together, worried Winona would force-feed her.
Eva had always eaten the freshest food, prepared by top chefs, with utensils worth thousands. Now, this woman was giving her a cheap boxed meal.
Leaning in, Winona whispered, "Not eating? The reporters are watching."
Eva was furious but stayed silent.
"Hasn't Mr. Turner asked you to return to A City for reflection recently?"
Eva gritted her teeth and took a bite despite her disgust. "You're ruthless."
The taste of low-quality oil made her gag, and she couldn't hold back, vomiting it all out.
This garbage food, was it even fit for humans?
Winona was clearly mocking her, but by now, Zachary should have parked the car and come up.
Men had a natural instinct to protect beautiful women, especially someone as pretty as Eva.
Eva didn't believe that after all her efforts to seduce him, Zachary wouldn't take the bait.
Biting the inside of her cheek hard, the pain brought tears to her eyes. When she looked up again, her eyes were already wet and red.
Sure enough, the next second, the ward door opened, but it wasn't Zachary who entered; it was Frank.
Eva's pitiful expression froze. "Why are you here?"
Frank glanced at Winona, while Rodolfo had already "escorted" everyone else out of the ward.
Once it was quiet, Frank spoke, "I've already discussed the marriage alliance with the Bailey family with your father. There's no need to talk about it anymore."
Eva couldn't believe it. She pointed sharply at Winona. "Uncle Frank, you're doing this because of her, right? Because she's Zachary's woman, my arranged marriage has to be canceled? You know if I don't get married soon, I'll..."
Realizing the reporters might still be nearby, Eva swallowed the rest of her words. "I just don't understand. What makes her so special that you favor her so much? Is she your woman, or..."
Her gaze shifted between Frank and Winona.
Frank had never married, but a normal man would have a few women, right?
All these years, she had never seen Frank treat any woman specially, except Winona.
A tall, handsome, and wealthy man like Frank had countless women wanting to marry him. In wealthy families, illegitimate children were not uncommon.
If Winona was Frank's child...
The thought thrilled Eva, and she eyed Winona eagerly, almost wanting to grab a few strands of her hair for a DNA test.
"Eva, you've been spoiled rotten, forgetting basic respect for elders," Frank scolded, looking disappointed. "Your marriage? A one-sided love? Did the Bailey family agree? Would they ever agree?"
Eva sneered, "Of course, you're not in a hurry; you don't have a daughter."
Listening any longer might spill the Turner family's secrets. Winona took the chance to interject, "You two continue talking. I'll leave now. Mr. Turner, I hope Miss Turner won't call me again. As for her saving me, she can ask for any reward she wants."
The driver who caused the accident had woken up, and the reason for the crash was clear: his company went bankrupt, he was in debt, his wife ran off with someone else, his daughter wasn't his, and his father died of a heart attack from the stress. In a moment of despair, he wanted to take revenge on society.
Whether he had any connection with Eva was still unclear.
Eva said, "I want you to set me up with Mr. Bailey."
"Can't do that."
"Then during my hospital stay, let us be alone for more than three hours a day."
"Can't do that either."
Eva scoffed, "And you said I could ask for any reward? You say it so easily, but you can't do this or that."
Winona replied, "I said you could ask, but I didn't say I'd fulfill it. Do you think I'm God, here to grant your wishes?"
She turned and left the ward, hearing footsteps behind her. Without looking back, she knew who it was. "Mr. Turner, if you're here to apologize for Eva, there's no need."
Frank walked beside her, and with a slight turn of his head, he could see her face, which resembled Yara Sullivan's. "Your mother taught you well."
Decisive, brave, unyielding to pressure and challenges, and able to fight back immediately when bullied.
As they reached the elevator, Winona stopped and looked at Frank, who was staring at her with a complex expression. She smiled slightly. "This is the temperament I developed from fighting with Carlos's daughter. My mother always taught me to be tolerant and kind. Since you were old friends, you should know her nature. She was bullied to death because she was too easygoing."
Frank asked, "You didn't have a good life in the Sullivan family all these years?"
The elevator arrived, and Winona didn't answer his question, stepping inside. "We're not going the same way. I'll go first."
After her mother died, anyone with a bit of curiosity could ask the neighbors about her life in the Sullivan family. If they didn't care, telling them would only provide gossip material.
The elevator doors closed.
Rodolfo walked over. "Mr. Turner."
"Look into Winona's life in the Sullivan family over the years."
After Yara left him, she disappeared. At that time, the old man suddenly passed away, and the Turner family was in chaos. He had no time or ability to look for her. By the time things stabilized, she was nowhere to be found.
He glanced towards the ward. "Have someone watch Eva, contact the accompanying doctor, and send her back to A City."
