Chapter 502 He Is a Hypocrite

Zachary suddenly stopped in his tracks and shot Winona a puzzled look. "Where'd you get that crazy idea? If I thought like that, there wouldn't be any room for women in Regal Oaks, let alone a spot for you to take in Austin."

Even after all this time, he still held a grudge. Winona shrugged, "From TV shows, obviously. You know, those bossy CEOs always chasing after the ones who don't give a damn about them."

Zachary scowled. "You should cut down on those dumb shows."

Winona smirked, "So, you still watch dramas?"

Zachary sighed, "That was Dylan's dumb idea..."

Dylan had said women loved romance and were hooked on how the male leads chased their love interests. Zachary wasn't into those shows, but he had sat through a couple for Winona's sake, though he could barely stand it.

Winona burst out laughing. "He's single, and you actually listen to him? If he really knew how to woo women, he'd probably have two kids by now."

Dylan, still burning the midnight oil at the office, felt a shiver, like someone was talking about him behind his back.

Zachary seized the moment, "So, what kind of guy do you like?"

Winona thought for a second and said, "Someone like Mr. Anderson."

Loving his wife, loyal, no scandals, emotionally intelligent, and given his status, he could have had so many women. Yet, he stayed faithful.

Though he could be pretty sharp-tongued, he definitely wouldn't use that on Julia.

Thinking of this, she shot Zachary a disdainful look. This guy's sharp words spared no one, attacking left and right.

Zachary, with a sneer, said, "So you think Julia's ungrateful? Having such a good man doting on her every day, and she still wants to dump Samuel?"

Winona glared at him and pinched his hand hard. "I never said that. Feelings aren't about liking someone just because they're good. Maybe Samuel isn't Julia's type."

Zachary smirked, "So, you think he's good, and you're planning to like him?"

He thought of Samuel's looks, which were definitely attractive to women, and said, "He's just a fake gentleman. Strip away that facade, and he quickly goes from a polished man to a beast. You think he's good because his looks fool you. Julia doesn't want to be with him because of his past mistakes, and he deserves every bit of it."

With Matthew as an example, Zachary was a pro at badmouthing his friends, painting a vivid picture.

Though he didn't go into detail, Winona could sense Samuel's scumbag nature from his tone. She remarked, "You even badmouth your friend? Mr. Anderson brought Dad to the hospital tonight. Doesn't your conscience bother you?"

"Matthew is also my friend, and he became a rival in love, the most annoying and troublesome one. Samuel is just good at putting on a show. Matthew and I, as his friends, both hope Julia dumps him and finds someone new." To make his point, Zachary specifically mentioned 'Matthew.'Winona sneered and tried to yank her hand out of his grip, but after a few tries, she couldn't. She shot him an angry look. "I swear, sometimes I think your brain's just mush."

If she liked Samuel, would she be out here in the middle of the night, freezing her butt off with Zachary? She would've ditched him and gone back to catch the TV finale.

Thinking about the finale she was dying to see, Winona patted Zachary's hand. "Let's head back."

Feeling her urgency, Zachary picked up the pace, frowning a bit. "What's the rush?"

"Got a show to catch. Found a great one recently, and tonight's the finale. The male lead still doesn't know the female lead likes him and stupidly thinks she likes someone else," Winona said, giving Zachary a side-eye. "Just like you."

Zachary stayed silent, feeling a bit foolish.

In the dim light, Winona's urgency was clear in her eyes and expressions, just like when they first met. Ever since Zachary had orchestrated their relationship—marriage, divorce, and reconciliation—he hadn't seen such intense emotions on her face.

And now, it was all for a TV show.

Zachary felt a mix of bitterness and slight joy. Bitter because these emotions weren't for him, joyful because Winona was happy.

As soon as they got back to the apartment, Winona rushed to the room to watch her show. Zachary had work to do and didn't want to disturb her, so he stayed out. From the occasional sounds coming through the door, he could tell it was a period drama.

After a while, he noticed the room had gone silent. Not only was the TV off, but Winona's voice was also gone. The only sound in the apartment was his fingers tapping on the keyboard.

Zachary frowned, got up, and walked to the room door. After a polite knock, he pushed it open.

Inside, Winona lay on the bed, eyes open, motionless, like she'd just taken a huge emotional hit.

The TV had ended, frozen on the final frame.

Zachary glanced at it. Yep, definitely a period drama.

"Winona," he knelt by the bed and nudged her. "I ordered some late-night snacks. Get up and eat something before you sleep."

Winona gritted her teeth. "Don't touch me. I feel like killing someone right now."

She said, "I want to make a TV show."

Zachary didn't even ask why and replied, "Okay, tell Dylan tomorrow. If you have any preferred actors, directors, or writers, let him know. He'll arrange it."

Winona exclaimed, "I'm the writer. I want to pair the evil maid with the male lead, the female lead with the rival's suitor, the second female lead with a guard, the crazy sister with her ex-husband, and the original writer with his nemesis. If I can't live, no one can."

Zachary couldn't keep up with Winona's train of thought. As a boss, he thought about her pairings. He said, "That would probably lose money. If you're the writer, the company won't invest."

Winona turned to glare at him. "So what's the benefit of being with you? I might as well..."

Zachary quickly added, "But being Mrs. Bailey of the Bailey Group means, as long as you're happy, I'll invest no matter the loss."
