Chapter 95 Even pregnant with a child

In the hospital room, Zachary was leaned against the head of the bed, talking on the phone. When he heard the voice, he looked up and glanced past Winona. His eyebrows immediately furrowed. "Did Samuel call you?"

Annoyed, Winona rolled her eyes. "He said you were dying and told me to come sign the consent form to give up treatment and have you cremated."

She walked in and sat down on the chair next to the hospital bed.

When she passed by the doctor's office earlier, she had asked and been informed that it was just a stomach spasm caused by drinking on an empty stomach. Once it eased, he could leave.

Zachary threw his disconnected phone onto the bedside table. "I'm hungry."

Winona stared at him for a few seconds, resigned, and took out her phone to order takeout. She just wanted to serve him the meal quickly, each going their separate ways after it eased. She didn't want to go home and receive another call from Samuel summoning her back.

Zachary's gaze fell on her, his tone indifferent. "When the food arrives, I might have to go to the emergency room again."

"Setting aside the serious matter of saving the patient's life, is this how you take care of them?"

"After taking the medicine, the intense pain in my stomach, as if it was being pulled apart by two hands, had slightly eased, but it hadn't completely disappeared. Occasionally, it would flare up with a sharp pain."

Winona stared at him fiercely, then abruptly stood up and wordlessly walked towards the door.

Zachary frowned, "Stop, where are you going?"

"To buy dog food," she gritted her teeth, her tone filled with annoyance, "to feed the dogs."

Behind her, the man seemed to chuckle, but Winona had already opened the door and walked out, not hearing it clearly.

Following Samuel's instructions, she went downstairs and bought a bowl of chicken soup. "Eat quickly so I can go back home."

Zachary was laying on the bed without any reaction to her at all, as if he were asleep. Since he was facing away, Winona couldn't see his face. After hesitating for a few seconds, she leaned closer and bent down to take a look.

The man's eyebrows were tightly furrowed, his forehead covered in cold sweat, and his lips and complexion had a tinge of blue.

He was definitely not asleep, but in intense pain!

After a moment's hesitation, Winona's urgent tone couldn't help but sound nervous, "Zachary, is your stomach hurting again? Should I call the doctor?"

She looked around and found the call button connecting to the doctor's office by the bedside, and after pressing it, the doctor came rushing in.

After finishing the examination, he pressed down on the outer side of Zachary's thigh, just above the knee joint, and said to Winona, "Massaging this area can relieve stomach pain. Since he just took medicine, it's not suitable to take more in such a short space of time. You can give him a massage or rub his stomach, which can also provide some relief."

Buy food and also give a massage?

Seeing her hesitation, the doctor's expression didn't show any concern, but his voice unintentionally became more serious, "Are you a family member? The patient is in so much pain, yet you seem indifferent, just standing there watching?"

Winona snapped out of her thoughts and apologized sincerely, "I'm sorry, I am a family member, his wife. But it's usually his lover who does these things, and I'm not very familiar. Could you please show me where to massage? Doctor, could you point it out?"

The doctor only mentioned a few words out of duty, not expecting to uncover such a secret. For a moment, his gaze towards Zachary changed.

He awkwardly coughed and withdrew his hand, standing up straight, "Actually, there's no need to massage. The medicine should be taking effect soon, and the pain will ease."

After the doctor left, Zachary gritted his teeth and asked, "Did you do it on purpose?"

Winona raised an eyebrow at him, "I can't let Fiona have all the good things, can I?"

Zachary's stomach pain had already eased in the latter part of the night. Although Winona was extremely tired, she still managed to handle the discharge procedures.

The environment of a public hospital could not be compared to a private one. The bed was small, and the curtains didn't block the light. She had a habit of recognizing beds, and after staying up most of the night, she wanted to sleep in a little longer. Clearly, that wouldn't be possible in the hospital.

This time, she didn't dare leave Zachary halfway. Who knows what kind of unexpected situation he might cause again?

The next day, just as Winona woke up and opened her eyes, she was startled by Rebecca's enlarged face leaning close.

Winona quickly shrunk back, a look of exhaustion on her face as she examined the person in front of her. She frowned and weakly laid back down, saying, "What are you doing? It's early in the morning, and you almost scared me to death."

Rebecca, sitting on the edge of the bed, looked at her with a sneer and replied, "You've got some nerve! Who scared whose soul away? I called you many times, but you didn't answer. I thought you were so heartbroken that you wanted to die for love! Look at the time now!"

Having just woken up, Winona was still groggy and subconsciously reached for her phone, asking, "Die for love? What are you talking about?"

After she got home last night, she had put her phone on silent.

Sure enough, there were several missed calls from Rebecca on the screen, and when she checked the time, it was already almost four in the afternoon!

Rebecca sneered, "That Zachary guy is such a scumbag, even God couldn't stand him. He ended up in the hospital last night, and this morning, as soon as the news came out, Fiona came knocking at the door with nutritional supplements to offer her warmth. Not only did Zachary let her in, but they also stayed together for hours. Who knows what they were up to in there? They probably even conceived a child!"

Although it sounded a bit exaggerated, it could still be true.

Not satisfied yet, Rebecca warned, "If you dare to turn back, I'll send you to a deserted desert and make you understand the importance of cherishing the present."

She even rolled her eyes a few times, causing Winona to worry that she might strain her eyelids.

Unable to say anything in response, Winona had to change the topic, "How did you know I live here?"

She hadn't told anyone about moving.

"A while ago, I bumped into Matthew at an auction, and he told me," Rebecca replied angrily, unable to resist poking at her, "You didn't have a place to live, and you didn't even think of coming to me? If you hadn't coincidentally bumped into Matthew, were you planning to sleep under a bridge?"

Matthew only mentioned that Winona didn't have a place to live, but he didn't say why. However, Rebecca could guess to some extent that it could only have been that asshole Zachary's doing.

"Fortunately, I bumped into Matthew. Because, if I suddenly couldn't reach you, I wouldn't know where to find you."

Winona got up and freshened up, asking, "How did you get in?"

"In high-end apartments like this, the homeowners have emergency access," Rebecca said, crossing her arms and leaning against the bathroom door frame. "By the way, I found out about Layla's situation. She is not just a senior executive at Mean Company but also a shareholder in their group, holding a significant stake. When your dad fled the country with a pile of debts and didn't make any groundbreaking achievements abroad, do you want to guess where Layla's investment money came from?"
