Chapter 20 Matthew, I Regret It
She kicked him off the bed with one foot, the air was filled with a strong and heavy smell of alcohol.
Zachary looked down at the mess on his shirt, finally realizing what Winona had said earlier, "Zachary, I feel like throwing up."
"Winona!" These words almost burst out from between his teeth.
The standoff lasted for more than ten seconds... Zachary didn't know if he was too lazy to argue or couldn't bear to continue wearing this outfit with her. He forcefully rinsed her mouth with a bottle of mineral water, then went into the bathroom with an unpleasant look on his face.
Ten minutes later, Zachary came out wrapped in a towel, and Winona was already lying on the bed, curled up, fast asleep.
He dried the water droplets off his hair and made a call to have a set of clothes delivered.
The hotel room was on the 45th floor, with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking half of New York's night view. The bustling and noisy atmosphere couldn't reach here. The splendid and colorful night view entered his eyes, resembling a silent and splendid painting.
Behind him was the quiet sleeping face of a woman.
Zachary lit a cigarette and turned around, looking through the hazy smoke at Winona, who was sound asleep on the bed.
Under the light, the woman's palm-sized face sunk into the soft pillow, with a thin layer of powder showing on the half that was exposed.
She was quite well-behaved when she was drunk this time.
Zachary extinguished the cigarette and walked over, lifting the blanket to prepare for sleep. However, as soon as he sat down, the "well-behaved" woman next to him suddenly kicked him in the waist and murmured, "Get out of here..."
This forceful kick caught Zachary off guard, and he took the full blow. It hurt so much that he let out a painful sound, feeling like his kidneys were shifting places!
"Winona!" his anger wrapped around his heart, he turned his head and reached out to pinch her face, "You did that on purpose, didn't you?"
The woman closed her eyes, sleeping soundly, showing no signs of being awake or pretending to sleep.
Winona slept very deeply this time. She woke up to the glaring morning light, staring at the ceiling in a daze for a while before realizing that this was not her rented house.
She had a splitting headache after a hangover, and she slowly sat up, supporting her head with her hand. Her gaze scanned the surroundings, clearly recognizing it as a hotel setup.
She instinctively looked down at her own attire and noticed that the outfit she wore yesterday had been replaced with an oversized men's shirt, visibly luxurious in fabric.
Having been married to Zachary for three years, she knew his scent very well. Even though there was no one else in the room besides her at the moment, she could still confirm that this shirt belonged to him.
After freshening up, Winona searched the room but couldn't find her own clothes, so she planned to go outside and take a look.
She got very drunk last night and completely forgot what had happened. But judging from Zachary's indifferent attitude towards her before and the sensations in her body, he probably just changed her clothes for her.
Of course, she didn't think he did it out of kindness. Most likely, he just found her dirty.
As Winona opened the bedroom door, about to step out, she heard Samuel's voice coming from the living room, "Matthew is at River Garden, shall we go there for the banquet together?"
Winona lifted her foot and then quickly brought it back down. She hadn't expected someone to be outside. At this moment, she was wearing Zachary's shirt, barely reaching the center of her thighs, and nothing else inside.
She was about to close the door again when her hand landed on the doorknob, but before she could make any movement, Zachary's gaze turned towards her. As his eyes touched the shirt on her body, the man squinted slightly.
Samuel noticed his peculiar expression and subconsciously followed his line of sight.
Zachary took a step forward, blocking his view. "Got it, you can go first."
In that moment, Winona had already closed the door.
Samuel sensed something and instinctively withdrew his gaze. He let out a sound of agreement and turned to leave the suite.
In the bedroom, Winona wrapped her almost half-naked body in the blanket. Half a minute later, Zachary pushed open the door and saw the woman cocooned in bed. He sneered mockingly, "Now you know how to be reserved?"
Winona understood what he meant and also knew what he was implying about previous incidents.
She retorted without showing any weakness, "People can become blind sometimes. I should thank you."
Zachary narrowed his eyes, feeling that this wasn't a good comment.
"If you don't encounter a scumbag in life, this flaw can't be cured. Thanks to you, compared to you, I will definitely be happy with any man in the future, even if it's just a dog."
Zachary's face twisted with anger, but before he could speak, Winona changed the subject. "Where are my clothes?"
The man coldly sneered from his higher position, "Ask a dog to get them for you."
"Tonight, come with me to River Garden."
River Garden was Matthew's residence. Winona frowned, "I'm not going."
She didn't know about Matthew's return, and there was no invitation for the banquet. Because of some past events, she didn't want to see that acquaintance and especially didn't want to go with Zachary...
"Accompanying me to attend the necessary banquet is your duty as Mrs. Bailey."
"Mrs. Bailey!" felt like needles poking into her tense nerves.
Winona felt it necessary to remind him, "If it weren't for my mother suddenly fainting yesterday, we would already be divorced."
As a couple on the verge of divorce, there was no need to pretend to be affectionate and disgust oneself and others!
Zachary, who was changing his clothes, turned around. His tone was indifferent, "Since we haven't divorced, you are still Mrs. Bailey. Hold on to that title and enjoy the benefits it brings you. Fulfill your own obligations."
The benefits of being Mrs. Bailey?
Winona couldn't help but laugh. She slightly curled her lips, "The greatest benefit being Mrs. Bailey has given me... Just a general handyman at the Bailey Group for three years."
"Dingling..." the intercom on the wall buzzed, and Zachary walked over to open the door.
"Mr. Bailey, these are the clothes you ordered for Mrs.," Winona recognized the voice of the Night Club manager, "Tim said he wanted to personally apologize to Mrs. He waited all night, I didn't dare make a decision, so I came to ask for your opinion."
Last night, Tim unwillingly caught up with Mr. Anderson and inquired about Winona's identity, but unexpectedly heard a terrifying name, "Mrs. Bailey."
In that moment, Zachary turned to look at Winona. "Without the identity of Mrs. Bailey, do you think Tim would take the initiative to apologize to you?" His words implied the mockery from earlier.
On the other end of the intercom, the manager was still waiting for a response.
Winona didn't need any apologies at all and replied coldly, "I won't be Mrs. Bailey very soon, don't look for me."
