Chapter 466 Play the Extra

Nicholas's Adam's apple bobbed a bit as he said, "No need, we're not that close."

Austin and Winona walked over just in time to catch that. They were chatting and hadn't noticed Nicholas and Timothy by the door until they heard the voices and looked over.

Timothy gave Winona a small smile and asked, "Winona, here to grab a bite with a friend?"

Winona nodded, "Yeah."

She wasn't in the mood to chat with Timothy. So after a quick nod, she whispered to Austin, "Let's go."

Austin had been in the military for the past few months and had no clue about Zachary's situation. Seeing them act like strangers now, he couldn't help but ask, "Did you guys have a fight?"

It didn't seem like a fight; it felt more like a breakup, the kind where you never want to see each other again.

Winona was worried Austin might mention Zachary's name in public, especially with Timothy around. Plus, Nicholas had warned her the night before to be careful around Timothy. So she quickly pulled Austin aside and said, "This is Mr. Ramsey from the Ramsey Group, the young master of the Ramsey family."

Austin raised an eyebrow, "Oh, nice to meet you, Mr. Ramsey."

After the greeting, he and Winona went inside.

Timothy, with his boyish charm and energetic vibe, looked like one of those cute guys who'd been all the rage lately. He said, "Winona, my brother and I haven't eaten yet either. Since we bumped into each other, why not eat together? I wanted to have a meal with you last time, but you were too busy, and I didn't dare to ask. Now my brother is here too."

He even gave Winona a playful wink.

Honestly, Timothy didn't buy Nicholas's excuse for a second. In a city as big as Dreamopolis, how could they keep running into each other if there wasn't some interest? When did it become so easy to bump into acquaintances?

Even if it was to get info about the Bailey Group, what could Winona possibly know?

Even today...

Timothy glanced around at everyone present. He suspected it was all pre-planned.

Hearing Timothy's words, Winona stayed quiet.

Did he not get it? She'd made it clear she didn't want to get close, yet he still suggested they eat together. How could he be so clueless?

At that moment, Timothy's eyes drooped slightly, giving him an innocent, almost sad look. If Nicholas hadn't warned her, Winona might have instinctively reached out to pat his head, drawn in by his soft, touchable hair.

But Austin didn't see it that way. To him, guys were either weaklings or rivals. Seeing Timothy's pitiful look, Austin just wanted to slap him and make him run twenty laps with weights.A guy who looked like he'd blow over with a light breeze—if the country was in trouble, could he be counted on to charge into battle or just whip up something in the kitchen? He'd probably scream for an ambulance at the slightest paper cut, way less capable than even Abigail.

Thinking about Abigail back home who wouldn't leave, Austin felt a headache coming on. How did a simple bump lead to amnesia?

Was amnesia really that easy to get these days? He almost wanted to try it himself.

Austin then used his deep, stern tone, the one he reserved for training new recruits. "Even if you have zero emotional intelligence, at least consider the occasion. We're talking about marriage, and you still want to play the extra?" As Austin spoke, he even glanced at Nicholas.

Though it wasn't polite, it was the best way to shut Timothy down. He was single now, and from Winona's demeanor, she seemed to be single too. Since they were both unmarried, discussing marriage shouldn't be a big deal.

Hearing this, Nicholas stayed silent.

When Austin said the first part, Nicholas almost considered becoming friends with him, eating together with Timothy every day. But the last sentence made that thought vanish instantly.

Friends? More like mortal enemies.

Why were they all so rude and unethical? In just a few months, they were all eager to mess with Winona.

Nicholas was furious but couldn't show it because Timothy was staring at him.

Seeing this, Nicholas said, "Since Timothy wants to have dinner with you, it must be fate. Let's eat together." He then said, "Excuse me, could we get a table for four in a private room, please?"

Austin was speechless.

Damn.

He forgot about this annoying Nicholas. That was a big mistake. Why did Austin have to add that last part?

Austin commented, "Kids like that need some discipline. If he wants to eat with us, we'll eat with him. But if he wants to hit us, should I just stand there and let it happen?"

Nicholas glanced at him and replied, "He doesn't want to eat with you; he wants to have dinner with Winona, the one he likes. As his brother, I have to accommodate this small request. And as for you..."

He looked Austin up and down with disdain, "Stop being so self-righteous."

Austin fell silent, thinking to himself, 'If I don't bring him to his knees today and make him cry for his parents, then I'm not being true to myself.'

It was the same private room Nicholas had used to entertain Jackson earlier. It was mealtime, and the other rooms were full.

Winona and Austin walked behind. She briefly explained the situation, and when she mentioned that Zachary was still missing, she subconsciously glanced at Nicholas ahead.

The room had just been cleaned, and there was a faint lemon scent. Winona reached out to pull a chair, and Nicholas did the same. They both grabbed the same one.

Nicholas was a step slower, and his hand landed on the back of Winona's hand.
