Chapter 266 Push Her Down

Upon seeing the newcomer, the faces of the two individuals in the car tensed simultaneously, their teeth clenched. "Damn, how did he come here? Alvin Weaver should have held him back."

They were originally planning to abduct Winona last night, but this man named Rodolfo intercepted them, forcing them to back off.

They weren't sure whether it was just bad luck or Rodolfo had been following Winona all along, so they decided to split up today. Upon inspection, they found our that he was indeed following her.

Alvin led a group to distract him while they kidnapped Winona.

The person in the passenger seat continued to exclaim, "He shouldn't be following Winona. Do they already know?"

Rodolfo's features were stern, resembling a drawn sword.

The driver suddenly jerked the steering wheel, attempting to pass by from the side. In just a few short minutes, sweat began to bead on his forehead. "Shut up. Instead of wasting time, think about whether he has seen your face. If you expose the identity of the boss, not only you but your whole family may be at stake."

His eyes widened, filled with bloodshot veins. "We don't know if he's after us or that woman behind us."

It was highly likely he was after Winona.

A flash of determination crossed his eyes. "No matter how powerful he is, he's just an ordinary person. At this moment, he's outside the car, while we're safely inside. There's no way he could overpower a vehicle made of steel."

After saying this, he glanced at Winona, who had already passed out in the back seat. "If necessary, we have to push her down."

Failing to complete the task would at most result in severe punishment, possibly even risking his own life. However, if the boss's identity were exposed, his whole family would be in jeopardy.

The car passed by Rodolfo's body, and unless it was an emergency, he didn't want to get involved in taking a life. He had hoped to get rid of him, but Rodolfo was not an ordinary person. Instead of dodging, he deftly grabbed the side mirror and climbed into their car.

Climbing onto a moving car while maintaining balance to avoid being thrown off was no ordinary feat. Through the glass, one could see the muscles bulging on the man's arms and the tense veins.

The passenger in the seat excitedly exclaimed, "Drive faster and throw him off. There's no way he can hang onto the mirror at these speeds."

Even a gecko couldn't achieve such a feat.

He didn't dare to roll down the window to smash the mirror, apprehensive that Rodolfo might seize the opportunity to pull him out. Despite the challenge, for someone like Rodolfo who had managed to climb onto a speeding car, it could be a walk in the park.

However, their excitement didn't last long. Rodolfo raised his hand towards the windshield, holding a small safety hammer.

The sound of shattering glass echoed.

"Push her down."

The sound of shattering glass and the driver's rough shout resonated simultaneously.

But it was too late. Rodolfo, relying on the strength of just one hand, steadied himself amidst the swaying of the car. He wasn't thrown out, and with a few kicks, he shattered the mesh-like windshield.

As the man in the passenger seat leaned back, poised to seize Winona from behind, the chilling point of the safety hammer pressed against the major artery in his neck.

The door opened.

Fresh air rushed in, and Winona began to regain consciousness, but she could only vaguely hear voices and couldn't open her eyes.

"How is she?" a deep and mature voice inquired. She couldn't pinpoint his exact age, but he seemed mature.

"It's nothing; she just had a bit of sedative and has no other injuries," a young man remarked, his voice unfamiliar yet oddly reminiscent in its intonation. "It was my negligence. I'll head back and accept the penalty."

Confident that Winona would be safe with Zachary and Matthew accompanied, Rodolfo hadn't anticipated her slipping away from their watchful eyes, voluntarily placing herself in harm's way. "Though she had someone tailing her for safey, those individuals proved insufficiently robust."

Shaking his head, the middle-aged man said, "Not that they are weak. It's just that the mastermind is exceedingly formidable. She hasn't entirely slipped away from Zachary, but here, after all, is not Dreamopolis."

Even if one possessed great strength, it was unwise to provoke the locals in the area.

Although the Bailey Group had a branch in Mode City, Zachary wasn't stationed here permanently, and he couldn't save her from such a distance, especially with limited time.

He seemed to remember something and couldn't help but reach out, touching Winona's face. "Looks so much like her, with the same stubborn temperament. Zachary should have been led elsewhere by someone. Get him to come pick her up."

Before Rodolfo could finish his sentence, the semi-conscious Winona suddenly reached out and tightly grabbed his hand.

But his hand was large, and she couldn't hold on. Winona, still under the influence of the drug, managed to grab a string of bracelets on his wrist.

Frowning, the man tried to pull the bracelet from her hand, but Winona held on tightly. She didn't seem like a person under the influence of drugs, and in the struggle, the bracelet fell to the ground, shattering into pieces.

Rodolfo answered a call, his face serious. "Zachary is already heading this way. We have at most five minutes left. We need to move quickly."

Before the call was even made, Zachary was almost there, surprising them with his speed.

The middle-aged man nodded in satisfaction.

Rodolfo bent down to help pick up the broken bracelet pieces. Due to the rush, he didn't have time to examine them closely, and he asked, "What about those two individuals?"

The middle-aged man replied, "Take them away, clean up the scene, and make sure to leave no trace of us. This was just a couple of thugs kidnapping for the sake of money. You know what to do."

Winona could hear their voices but couldn't manage to open her eyes no matter how hard she tried. When she finally managed to open one eye, all she saw were two blurry figures, like a double image. She could hardly see anything.

Faintly, she heard the sound of the car driving away, followed by silence.

Winona lay in the back seat, the cool night air blowing over her. Her groggy consciousness gradually began to clear, and images started to form in her half-open eyes.

Outside, the scene was the same as before she passed out: the car was in disarray, with shattered glass everywhere.

Struggling, she sat up against the door, slowly opening her palm—inside lay a fragment of a bracelet.

Her palm bore deep impressions from gripping it too tightly.

Who were those two men just now?

She felt the tone of the young man's voice was somewhat familiar, but she couldn't recall where she had heard it before. While a person's voice could be altered through practice, the tone was a matter of habit. Unless one was very attentive, it was difficult to disguise their tone.

Her thoughts were interrupted by the screeching of brakes. Winona turned her head to see Zachary getting out of the car through the window.

With an austere countenance, he pursed his lips and strode towards her direction.
