Chapter 376 Don't You Need to Suck with Your Mouth?
Winona was hunched over, wrapping gauze around the top of Zachary's leg like her life depended on it. Zachary could only see the top of her head and some loose strands of hair.
The bite was close to his groin, so his underwear had to be pushed aside to get a good look.
Two fang marks were still oozing blood, looking all red and puffy.
Winona said, "The blood looks normal. Does that mean the snake isn't venomous?"
"Nope, you can't tell if a snake's venomous just by the color of the blood."
She looked up, and they were super close. Zachary could even see his own face in her eyes. His breathing got a bit heavier, and he reached out to touch her face.
Winona's face was very soft; even a light touch would leave a mark.
The vibe got real intense.
Just as Zachary's fingers were about to touch her, Winona's voice snapped him back to reality, "I told you to hold up your underwear, why are you touching my face?"
Zachary stayed quiet.
Winona held a sterilized scalpel, "This might sting a bit, try to hang in there."
She'd only read about basic first aid for snake bites in books and had zero hands-on experience. She tightened her grip on the scalpel and placed her other hand on his wound, "Are there any major blood vessels here?"
Zachary looked a bit let down, "Aren't you supposed to suck it out with your mouth?"
Winona looked at him, surprised, "Who told you that?"
Even if he was a CEO who didn't need life skills, he should have some basic common sense. Didn't Matthew say they trained with professional instructors every summer and learned survival skills?
"That's how it is in TV dramas," Zachary answered smartly.
"TV dramas don't need logic. All the plots are for romance. As long as the guy is handsome and the girl is beautiful, and the story is engaging, it's fine. In real life, If I use my mouth to suck out the poison, I might get poisoned just like you."
What if there were wounds in the mouth? What if some of it got swallowed?
"Watch less of those brainless shows and more survival programs, so you don't become stupid."
Zachary stayed quiet.
He didn't really want Winona to suck it out. Even if she wanted to, he wouldn't agree. Although it wasn't a venomous snake, it ate mice and frogs, and who knew how many bacteria were in its mouth.
Winona took a deep breath and made a cross-shaped incision on the wound with the scalpel. The scalpel was sharp, and she didn't dare to use too much force. She wasn't a professional, and if she cut a major blood vessel, the poison wouldn't be drained, but the blood would.
Everything went smoothly, except when she was squeezing the blood out, Zachary got an erection.
She couldn't believe it. If it weren't for the fact that he was bitten by a possibly venomous snake, she would have walked away, "Can you control yourself? Aren't you afraid the venom will spread?"
Zachary was also embarrassed, his ears turning slightly red, his hoarse voice sounding very suppressed, "Just squeeze, don't touch everywhere. If it doesn't react, you're going to criticize my performance down there again."
Winona didn't respond.
She decided to keep quiet and ignore it. She didn't know how much to squeeze out, so she stopped when she thought it was enough, sprayed iodine for disinfection, and loosened the gauze tied to his thigh.
The doc had seen pics before coming over and knew it was a non-venomous snake, but he double-checked just to be sure.
He also brought a bunch of common antivenoms, just in case.
He'd run all the way and was out of breath, talking in broken sentences, "Mr. Bailey, I just checked, that snake is definitely..."
Zachary cut him off, "Winona, get the doc a glass of water."
"No need."
Before the doc could finish, Zachary added, "I'm also a bit thirsty."
The doc shut up, realizing Zachary was the one who wanted water, and he was just an excuse.
After Winona left, he asked the family doc, "Is the snake venomous?"
"Nope, it's a common non-venomous snake," he checked Zachary's wound, "The treatment was good. I'll prescribe some antibiotics. It's hot lately, so watch out for infections."
Zachary said, "I think the snake was venomous. I'm feeling dizzy and weak."
The doc stayed silent.
He even started doubting his own skills.
Winona was already on her way back with water, her footsteps getting closer. The doc met Zachary's dark gaze and suddenly got it, "Ah, yes, it is venomous. Mr. Bailey, you should stay in bed and avoid moving around to prevent the venom from spreading."
Zachary was really shameless in his pursuit of his wife.
As Winona reached the door, she heard the words "venom spreading" and rushed in, looking worried, "What venom spreading? Is it serious? Should we go to the hospital?"
There were no professional medical instruments at home, and many detailed tests couldn't be done.
"Mrs. Bailey, the snake is venomous. The blood wasn't drained in time, so there might be a risk of amputation..."
Zachary kicked him, signaling him not to exaggerate.
The doc got the hint, "But the wound has been cleaned again. Just avoid moving, don't do any strenuous activities, don't get emotional, and keep someone in the room to monitor the situation."
He left some antibiotics and went to check on Lydia.
Sarah brought dinner to the room, still looking scared, "Mrs. Bailey, is Mr. Bailey okay?"
"Just needs bed rest for a while."
Knowing Zachary was fine, Winona finally relaxed. She set up a small table for him to eat, but he didn't even pick up the fork.
Zachary pouted, "You need to follow the doc's orders."
"The doc advised against strenuous activities, but that doesn't mean you can't feed yourself. After all, you were bitten on the leg, not the hand."
"It's normal if you don't want to take care of me. Taking care of a patient is tiring, and now I can't even get out of bed, almost like being paralyzed," he lay down, staring at the ceiling, and continued pitifully, "You go ahead, I'll eat when I have the strength. Missing a meal or two won't kill me."
Winona said, "Don't ever say Matthew is a drama queen again; you're even more of that than he is."
Matthew would never say something like that.
After feeding Zachary, Winona quickly ate a few bites and went to the garden. Because of the incident, the villa's security was tighter than usual.
She directly called Frank and got straight to the point, "Zachary was bitten by a snake. A package was delivered here, and inside it was a snake."
