Chapter 316 Where You Went Wrong

'Why would Uncle Frank's people be here? Wasn't he supposed to be busy with international affairs, leaving Dreamopolis to my dad?' Eva wondered.

Before she could figure it out, Rodolfo approached her. "Miss Eva."

He glanced at Winona, pursed his lips, and said nothing.

Winona raised an eyebrow, about to speak, but Rodolfo's gaze shifted away. He headed straight for Room 2018.

The reporters had already been "escorted" out by security, and the guests were moved to the first floor.

The entire corridor, apart from Rodolfo's people, only had Winona, Eva, and a disheveled William left.

Rodolfo entered the room, and a few seconds later, Ian, also disheveled, was brought out, looking dejected. He saw William standing at the door and noticed the bright red kiss marks on his body.

Ian couldn't hold it in and started retching.

Earlier, in the dark, and later being cornered by reporters in the room, he was too agitated to recall that he had kissed a man he didn't know.

Now was the moment his psyche took a hit.

William was equally devastated. He kicked Ian in the butt. "You have the nerve to puke? Is your brain controlled by your dick? You rushed in and kissed me. If you had just turned on the light, this wouldn't have happened."

In the entertainment industry, everyone was required to stay slim to look good on camera. Ian's last role was a patient, so he was even thinner than his fellow stars. The kick sent him sprawling on the ground.

He scrambled to his feet and turned to fight William. "You dare blame me? I'll beat you to death."

Before his fist could land, Rodolfo grabbed him by the collar.

Seeing there was no more drama to watch, Winona turned and went back to her room.

A few minutes later, she received a message from Rodolfo: [The Turner family will give you an explanation for this.]

Winona didn't reply.

She sat in her room for a few minutes, estimating that everyone outside should have left by now, and got up to leave.

As soon as she opened the door, she saw Zachary standing there, about to knock.

He was wearing a semi-formal black suit, with a tie and cufflinks, and there was a hint of fatigue in his eyes.

Zachary stepped inside. "Wait a little longer."

Winona asked, "Wait for what?"

"Wait for the Turner family's explanation."

Zachary checked around the room. When he turned back, he saw Winona still standing there. "Are you planning to stand there waiting for the Turner family to invite you?"

Winona closed the door and walked over. She had just sat down next to Zachary and hadn't had time to ask anything when Zachary leaned his head on her shoulder. "I just checked the room card. It was all randomly assigned, and they probably registered the wrong room. So this might end with Eva and Ian getting a scolding."

But that was just the Turner family's idea of an ending.

Zachary's head rested on her shoulder, his familiar scent enveloping her. Winona uncomfortably shifted her shoulder and raised her hand to push his head upright.

As soon as her hand touched him, Zachary grabbed it. His hoarse voice sounded in her ear. "I asked a lot of people just now. I'm really tired."

"Aren't these things handled by your subordinates once you give the order?"

"Have you ever seen anyone attend a banquet with a group of people? That's not attending a party. That's a gang fight." Speaking of this, he gritted his teeth in anger. "Who told you to come here? Do you never listen to what I say?"

Zachary was fuming.

He had only planned to send Dylan over today. After all, Lydia's presence meant the Bailey family was represented. But then his mom had sent him a photo of Winona and Ian chatting happily.

Both of them were smiling, clearly enjoying the conversation.

He had canceled his meeting and rushed over. As soon as he walked in, he heard the gossip: William and Ian were caught by the media in a hotel room.

Although this had nothing to do with Winona, his gut told him she was involved, so he sent Dylan to investigate the details.

Winona felt a bit guilty. "Eva gave me an invitation."

"She gives you an invitation, and you accept just like that? You're so obedient. But when I told you to stay away from her, you didn't listen. Even animals know to avoid danger. But you, you run towards it. Do you think you're invincible?"

Winona was very confused.

'Was he deliberately picking a fight? What did he mean by even animals know to avoid danger? Was he saying I was worse than an animal?' she thought.

Winona angrily pushed his head off her shoulder. "She invited me as your fiancée. Of course, I had to come and offer my congratulations. Otherwise, she might think I still have feelings for my ex-husband and might secretly harm me. I'm just a small, powerless person. I have to protect myself."

Zachary wrapped his arms around her waist, hugging the angry Winona tightly. "I'm sorry."

It was rare for the proud Zachary to apologize.

Winona asked, "Do you even know where you went wrong? You don't even know where you went wrong, so why are you apologizing? Let go of me."

Zachary, helpless, with a hint of subtle grievance in his voice, said, "If I let go, you'll run away. I didn't plan to come today. My mom texted me saying you were here, so I canceled my meeting and rushed over. When I got here, I immediately checked the room card situation."

"You said I don't know how to avoid danger. Staying away from you is avoiding danger." Despite her words, Winona's attitude softened. She struggled a bit. "Don't hug me like this."

At that moment, there was a knock on the door. Zachary released his hand from her waist. Winona was about to get up to open the door, but he pressed her back onto the sofa. "I'll get it."

The person standing outside was Rodolfo.

"Miss Sullivan..." He stopped mid-sentence when he saw Zachary. "Mr. Bailey?"

"What is it?"

"Mr. Turner wants to ask Miss Sullivan a few questions."

Zachary glared at him. "Tell him to come and ask himself. If he can't give my ex-wife a reasonable explanation for today's incident, I'll have to investigate it myself. But if it comes to that, the Turner family's banquet will be meaningless."

The Turner family wanted to extend their influence to Dreamopolis, so they hosted this banquet to connect with the city's powerful figures. If this matter wasn't handled to Zachary's satisfaction, he wouldn't let the Turner family establish themselves in Dreamopolis.

Rodolfo's gaze shifted past Zachary to Winona. "Mr. Turner just wants to understand why Miss Sullivan's room card was swapped with Mr. Simmons'. Did she know anything beforehand?"

"So you're saying my wife should have been in that room, harassed by Ian? Mr. Simmons was in that room because he had the card for 2018, but Ian didn't. Why don't you explain why he was there?"

Rodolfo said, "Sorry, I misspoke. I'll call Mr. Turner right away."

As soon as he finished speaking, a deep voice of a middle-aged man came from not far away.

"Rodolfo, bring Ian and Eva over."
