Chapter 411 Bring Zachary Over
The firelight flickered in Winona's eyes, like two tiny flames.
Everything went down so fast, no one had a chance to react.
Eva, who was just about to kill Winona, was stunned. "How could this happen? My dad's still on the boat."
She was scared of Kyle, but she knew her fancy life was all thanks to him. If he was gone, what would she do?
Thinking about all the stuff she'd done, Eva shivered. She'd pissed off a lot of rich ladies, though none as powerful as the Turner Family. Even if they were mad, they had to suck it up. If they found out she was ditched by the Turners...
Explosions kept going off in the distance, messing with her head. Eva, not being the sharpest tool in the shed, could only scream.
She grabbed Frank's sleeve and cried, "Frank, save my dad, he's still on the boat."
Frank was on the walkie-talkie, telling the rescue boat to hurry. Eva's tug almost sent him and the walkie-talkie into the sea. Rodolfo steadied him and then tossed Eva into the water. "If you don't behave, you'll stay in this sea forever."
He didn't care about her at all.
Eva didn't dare mess with Rodolfo and stayed in the water, her eyes begging Frank. "Frank, you have to save my dad!"
A cold dagger pressed against her neck, cutting a long gash. Winona's voice shook as she said, "Get your people to bring Zachary here. I won't go after Kyle for trying to kill my mom. I swear."
"Winona..." Frank hesitated. He knew how much it took for Winona to make this call. But he couldn't argue; Zachary's life was on the line.
Winona's eyes were locked on Eva.
Normally, Eva would jump at the chance to humiliate her. But now, with Kyle's fate up in the air, a dagger at her throat, and surrounded by Winona's people, she pleaded, "Keep your hand steady."
She was terrified Winona might lose it and slit her throat.
If that happened, Frank would cover for Winona. Rodolfo did whatever Frank said. If they dumped her body in the sea, no one would find it.
"Are you gonna talk or not?"
Kyle still cared about money, so he must have had a backup plan. He wouldn't do something that would get them all killed. If he wanted to live, he wouldn't kill Zachary. Even with money, crossing the Bailey Family meant he wouldn't live to spend it.
Winona pressed harder, drawing more blood from Eva's neck.
The saltwater stung, making her hair stand on end from the pain."I don't know. My dad didn't plan this part. He just wanted to grab the money and skip town. He even got his visa ready. You guys stopped him from leaving,"
Eva pleaded, looking at Frank. "Frank, you know my dad. He's ruthless but scared of dying. Otherwise, he wouldn't have shown himself as soon as you took that crazy woman away."
A boat came to pick them up.
Frank held Winona's trembling hand and said, "Winona, let's get on the boat first. We'll keep Eva for now. Kyle's secretary has a special relationship with her, and he must know something."
Winona nodded blankly. "Okay."
She grabbed the rope hanging from the big ship and gritted her teeth as she climbed. This kind of non-slip hemp rope was rough even for men to hold, let alone climb using just arm strength.
Winona climbed silently, her eyes red and her palms raw and burning with pain. The searing pain traveled from her nerve endings to her heart, making even her breaths taste of blood.
She stared at the hand reaching down to her from above, climbing relentlessly. Just a second faster, even a second, and she could find Zachary sooner.
Winona didn't dare look at the blazing fire. Even from this distance, she could feel the scorching heat. She didn't dare think about Zachary's current situation, fearing that any bad thoughts would flood her mind, sapping her strength and making her lose her grip on the rope.
Eva was pulled up by Rodolfo, who tied the rope around her waist. Frank and Rodolfo followed quickly.
By the time they reached the boat and sailed to the accident site, the fire was still raging.
No one had expected the fire to break out so suddenly and spread so quickly. The boat wasn't equipped with enough firefighting tools, and the seawater evaporated as soon as it touched the flames.
Faced with such a massive fire, everyone was helpless and could only do their best.
The scorching heat turned Winona's face red, but she still stood there, gripping the hot handrail, squinting to see the burning boat.
The interior of the cabin had been completely burned out. There was nothing left but fire.
Frank frowned and said, "From the moment we saw the fire to when it fully ignited, it was only a matter of seconds. Under normal circumstances, it couldn't have burned so quickly unless gasoline was poured beforehand. So this wasn't an accident; it was premeditated.
When people encountered danger, they instinctively avoided it. If the boat caught fire, they would have jumped into the sea. But we didn't see anyone jump off the boat during this time. It's very likely that the boat was already empty before it caught fire."
He was afraid Winona would lose control and insist on going to find someone.
It took a long time for her to let out a single sound, her voice so hoarse it was almost inaudible.
Frank didn't know how to comfort her. In this situation, no one could help unless she figured it out herself. He could only pat her hand, saying, "Go rest in the cabin for a while. I'll call you when the fire is out."
After a series of blows and with Zachary's life now uncertain, he worried she wouldn't hold up.
Winona shook her head, a sudden flash of inspiration in her mind. She turned and said, "Didn't Kyle say there were cameras on the boat that could stream live footage to the police? Check his account."
