Chapter 565 We Found Something

Zachary and Wyatt had planned to meet at a café. Zachary got there first, and not long after, a middle-aged man burst through the door. He hesitated when he saw Zachary in a wheelchair, then awkwardly said, "Nicholas, what do you need from me?"

Zachary's face looked so much like the missing member of the Bailey family that Wyatt always did a double-take when he saw him.

Zachary nodded and motioned for Wyatt to sit. "What do you have to say about the illegal fundraising?"

Before Zachary became president of the Ramsey Group, he had met the Ramsey family once, pretending to be Nicholas. Except for Wyatt, the rest of the Ramsey family didn't know he wasn't the real Nicholas. The decision to make Zachary president was met with unanimous opposition from the Ramsey family.

A frail guy brought back from the countryside, who hadn't even gone to a proper university, let alone studied abroad—how could he suddenly become the heir to the Ramsey Group? Wyatt's son was the most against it.

Timothy had gone to great lengths to make sure Zachary's implanted memories felt real.

Wyatt was taken aback, then frowned. "What do I have to say? What can I say? The Ramsey Group is under your control now. I'm just a shareholder who gets dividends. What can I say?"

"You should know that Timothy is the mastermind behind this. I never gave him any authority. I don't know how he got the Ramsey Group's seal or managed to get the employees to follow his orders."

"Nicholas, could there be some misunderstanding? I don't know any Timothy, nor do I have any dealings with him. Didn't the company say Timothy is your brother? Since he's your brother, you can't just walk away. The Ramsey Group's stock had just started to rise, and now it's plummeting again. What are we going to do?"

Zachary sipped his coffee slowly. "Mr. Ramsey, I won't keep the Ramsey Group. Even without Timothy's illegal fundraising, it would go bankrupt for other reasons. You should know why."

The person targeting the Bailey family had the Ramsey Group as one of their assets in the country. Despite annual losses, the company hadn't declared bankruptcy, which was suspicious. Zachary wouldn't leave such a hidden danger for himself or the Bailey family.

"But if you're willing to explain to the police, like why I became Nicholas, who orchestrated all this, and what the purpose was, I can compensate you for your losses, considering we were nominally father and son for a few months."

Wyatt gritted his teeth, his face twitching. His losses were enough to ensure a comfortable life for several generations. It was a tempting offer, but money is only useful if you're alive to spend it.

Zachary's phone rang. He glanced at the caller ID and stood up. "Take your time to think about it. I need to take this call."

He moved to the window and answered. "What's up?"

"Someone broke into Timothy's house, seemingly looking for something. We didn't catch them, but we've sent people to pursue."

"Was anything taken?"

After the case was closed, Zachary had people keeping an eye on Timothy's house, just in case the person behind everything showed up.

"We're still checking. Nothing found so far, but we discovered something on Timothy's computer..." The person paused, not specifying what it was. "I'll send it to you."

The information came through as photos. Zachary took one look and frowned deeply.

He pressed his temples, feeling a dull pain spreading from his fingers, as if his brain was being pulled and hammered. The world seemed like a giant kaleidoscope, his mind briefly blank and chaotic.

But it didn't last long. Once Zachary recovered, the person on the other end was still waiting for instructions. "Where did you find these?"

"On Timothy's computer. Not sure if the intruder was looking for this. They were discovered just as they opened the computer and didn't have time to check."

"Delete everything. No records left. Check if these were sent to him by someone else."

Zachary rubbed his head as he spoke. Though the pain had subsided, he still felt uncomfortable. "Search the house again. There should be paper copies."

Hanging up, Zachary wheeled back to the table. "Mr. Ramsey, have you made up your mind? If you're worried about safety, I'll have people protect you until this is resolved. Afterward, you'll be sent out of town or abroad immediately."

Wyatt opened his mouth, wanting to say something but swallowed it back. Coming from someone who had nearly been blown up and now relied on a wheelchair, the promise lacked credibility.

Zachary, preoccupied with the information from his team, had no patience for further discussion. Seeing Wyatt's silence, he wheeled away.

Even if Wyatt didn't testify, Zachary could handle it, though it would be more complicated and time-consuming. If not for wanting to resolve it quickly and marry Winona after reclaiming his identity, he wouldn't have bothered with this meeting.

As Zachary left, Wyatt hurriedly said, "I'll do it, but don't forget your promise. Not just for me, but for my wife and kids too."

"Alright."

That evening, Winona planned to have dinner at the Bailey Estate. She first went to the mall to buy gifts for Evander and Lydia and got a wallet for Zachary. Realizing that most people now used mobile payments and rarely carried wallets, she also picked out a tie.

Remembering Zachary's bright eyes when he thought the preserved flower she held last night was a gift for him, Winona couldn't help but smile and gently caress the tie's gift box.

After shopping, she drove home.

Zachary, still under the guise of Nicholas, was dealing with the Ramsey Group's issues and had many tails following him. He didn't want to risk those people targeting Winona if they couldn't get to him.

Sarah was busy preparing dinner in the kitchen, while Lydia sat on the couch, distracted by her phone. She didn't even notice Winona's arrival until Sarah called out, "Winona's here, come over."

Winona noticed Lydia's haggard appearance, with dark circles under her eyes, and frowned. "Mom, are you okay?"
