Chapter 327 No Regrets

A black sedan came barreling straight at her.

Winona was on the phone, and by the time she turned around at the noise, it was too late.

The car was so close that debris from the impact even grazed her skin; there was no time to dodge.

Her eyes locked with the driver's through the windshield.

All sounds seemed to fade away, leaving only that crazed face growing larger before her eyes.

Suddenly, a strong force shoved her from behind.

Winona stumbled forward, tripped over the debris, and rolled out in a disheveled heap.

"Bang."

The car crashed.

Winona lay on the ground, her elbows and knees burning with pain, snapping her back to reality.

The surrounding noise gradually became clearer. "Call 911, oh my, so much blood, it looks grim."

"Dear family and friends, I'm on Maple Road, and I just saw a horrific car accident. That driver definitely came prepared, just plowed straight through, no signs of braking. It's either a vendetta, a crime of passion, or revenge spree!"

Winona gritted her teeth and sat up, pushing away a phone that was almost shoved in her face.

Someone had pushed her away when the car came.

She wasn't hit, and the pain was from the wounds caused by the broken debris when she fell.

Winona scanned the surroundings, trying to see how the person who pushed her was doing, but instead, she saw a crowd of onlookers taking photos and videos with their phones.

The person who had pushed her was a woman, dressed and styled similarly to her, and quite wealthy, judging by the bag that had fallen nearby, worth tens of thousands.

The woman had her back to her, and it was unclear if she was alive or dead, with blood pooling around her.

People around were afraid of getting into trouble and stayed far away from the potential corpse.

Winona hurriedly got up and ran towards the woman. Although she couldn't help much, the person had been hit while saving her, so she had to check on her out of both emotion and reason.

But after seeing the woman's face clearly, she regretted it.

If she had known, she would rather have been hit herself.

The person who saved her was Eva!

Winona felt weak all over and didn't care about the dirt on the ground, sitting down directly. "Miss Turner, what were you thinking?"

Eva lay there with her eyes closed, motionless, whether truly unconscious or pretending.

But judging by the amount of blood, she was seriously injured.

Winona muttered to herself, "If this goes wrong, she could die."

Although she didn't know Eva's true intentions, it was clear she had gone to great lengths. Seeing the blood all over the place, Winona suspected Eva might have hidden blood packs.

Judging by the sound of the impact and the distance she was thrown, it shouldn't have been that serious, so why was there so much blood?

Soon, the ambulances arrived, one in front and one behind.

The doctors first lifted the severely injured and unconscious Eva and the driver onto stretchers and into the ambulances before coming to help Winona.

At the hospital.

Knowing she wasn't hit by the car, the nurse simply treated her wounds and then left to attend to other matters.

Winona sat outside the emergency surgery room, scrolling through her phone. In no time, the incident had already blown up online.

A popular influencer with millions of followers had been live-streaming at the scene, capturing Eva's heroic act clearly on camera. Now, the internet was full of praises for Eva.

Terms like "most beautiful angel," "selfless hero," and "kind-hearted beauty" were everywhere.

Some even dug up Eva and Winona's identities, with self-proclaimed fans thanking Eva in the comments, speaking as if they were the ones saved.

In the noisy corridor, hurried footsteps approached.

A shadow fell over Winona, enveloping her.

Just as she was about to look up, Zachary squatted in front of her, holding her calf and examining the wound on her knee. "Didn't you say you weren't hurt?"

Zachary had come straight from the office, still impeccably dressed in his suit, with Dylan standing watch nearby. The corridor bustled with people, and Zachary's distinguished presence drew eyes wherever he went. Curious glances and whispered speculations began to ripple through the crowd as they slowed their pace to take in the scene.

Winona looked down, unable to meet his intense gaze. She couldn't help but notice how well-defined his hands were, with long, slender fingers that moved with gentle precision as he wiped away the dirt from her wound. His fingertips brushed lightly against her skin, sending an unexpected shiver up her spine. "I didn't see you for one day, and you managed to get yourself into this mess?" he chided softly.

A faint blush spread over Winona's ears, and she awkwardly moved her foot back. "I just scraped it when I fell, it's just a scratch, not serious."

Zachary frowned, looking at the thick bandages on her knee and elbow. "It's wrapped up like this, and you say it's not serious? From now on, I'll have the driver take you to and from work."

Winona was about to refuse when she saw a member of the Turner family approaching, someone she had seen at a previous banquet, probably an assistant.

A reporter followed behind him.

Zachary followed Winona's gaze and introduced the person. "Kyle's secretary."

The secretary was heading towards Eva's surgery room but changed direction upon seeing Zachary, walking towards them. "Mr. Bailey, how is Miss Turner?"

The surgery room door opened, and the doctor came out. Winona was about to stand up but was pressed back into her seat by Zachary. "Sit, I'll go."

The doctor said, "The patient has a fractured leg and multiple soft tissue injuries. Here's the consent form for surgery. Once signed, you can proceed with the hospitalization procedures."

Kyle's secretary signed the form and turned to go downstairs to handle the paperwork. Dylan quickly followed. "I'll go with you. Miss Turner was injured saving Mrs. Bailey, so we should cover the hospitalization costs."

Eva was wheeled out of the surgery room by a nurse.

She was awake, lying weakly on the bed, her face pale from blood loss, with a cast on her leg and covered in dirt and blood, looking very disheveled.

As soon as she came out, the reporters rushed over, pointing various cameras at her. "Miss Turner, weren't you afraid when you pushed Miss Sullivan? Did you think about what if..."

"It's said you weren't in the car's path initially. Do you regret getting injured so badly to save Miss Sullivan now?"

Eva turned her head and saw Winona, who was blocked by the reporters. She smiled slightly. "Winona and I are very good friends. I don't regret getting injured to save her, not even if there were consequences."
