Chapter 472 Are You Planning to Take Off Your Pants and Show Me?
Winona couldn't help but blurt out, "Wow, you're really ready for this."
Rebecca, rubbing her butt, grumbled, "That little punk thinks he can dodge me by ignoring my calls. Today, he's getting a lesson. That beating was pointless. I should've made him study management. My dream guy's probably got kids by now. Just thinking about it breaks my heart. I won't marry anyone but him."
Winona shot back, "Not only does he not have kids, but he's also divorced. You still have a shot. If you kept up with entertainment news, I'd believe you when you say you won't marry anyone but him."
Rebecca had already texted Howard before showing up.
At that moment, Howard was hiding behind a tree near the school gate, waiting for the security guards who usually chased away students sneaking out for food deliveries to scare off his sister. He didn't have high hopes, but he was smart enough to call for backup.
But maybe the backup was a bit too late; his sister was already on her way in.
She was really coming in.
Howard hesitated for a bit. To keep his tough-guy image in front of his classmates, he decided to take the risk. Getting beaten up outside was better than being humiliated in front of them.
He took a deep breath and was about to rush out when his phone chimed with a WhatsApp notification.
With shaky hands, he opened it.
[Savior: I'm at the school gate. Where are you?]
Howard made a video call and said, "Bro-in-law, don't ask where I am. Just look at where my sister is."
In his excitement, he didn't lower his voice, and Rebecca heard him from not far away.
Even in public, Rebecca knew to save face for her brother despite her anger. She followed the sound and, upon spotting him, gritted her teeth and said, "Howard, get over here."
Howard pleaded, "Bro-in-law, help!"
Rebecca could only see him holding his phone but not who he was calling. She squinted and asked, "Who are you calling bro-in-law?"
"Miss Davis." A familiar voice came from both the phone and behind her.
Rebecca turned around and faced Anthony's stern face.
This was really troublesome.
She forced a smile and said, "Mr. Lewis, what a coincidence."
Anthony raised his chin, gesturing towards Howard. "Not a coincidence. Your brother called me."
Rebecca's gaze shifted between the two. When did they start teaming up behind her back? Calling Anthony for help with family matters? She suspiciously stared at Anthony and asked, "Why did he suddenly want to change his major? And to law, no less. Did you mislead him?"
This was the second time today that Winona had heard the term "mislead." She couldn't help but recall Zachary's desperate attempt to prove his identity to her earlier, and she couldn't help but smile.
How could he be so clueless and still run a company as big as the Bailey Group?
Winona used to work at the Bailey Group. Although she was just a low-level worker, she could see that the company was well-organized back then. Everyone knew their roles, unlike the chaos now.It seemed like without Zachary, the company was totally lost. Everyone was running around like headless chickens; even the security guards at the gate weren't as sharp as they used to be.
Howard might have been scared of Rebecca, but he wasn't about to throw anyone under the bus. He knew Anthony could handle his sister, and he’d probably just end up getting smacked around, but he raised his voice and said seriously, "This has nothing to do with bro-in-law. I want to change my major. I want to be a lawyer to protect myself, and you, Mom, and Dad. Last time, the other side was powerful, and a lot of lawyers were too scared to take the case. If it hadn't been for bro-in-law, I'd still be in jail."
Rebecca was touched by his words, especially the part about "protect you," but she got a headache from him calling Anthony "bro-in-law" over and over. "So, you think he's impressive, and now you want to be impressive too?"
She took a few deep breaths to calm down.
Howard's voice was steady. "No, I want to be like my brother-in-law, to stand up for those who face injustice and have no one to turn to."
Rebecca turned to Anthony and asked, "Do you feel ashamed hearing that?"
Back then, she had tried everything to get him to take the case. She even went to his place and stripped, only to be ruthlessly rejected. If it weren't for Winona's connection with Zachary, her foolish brother would still be in jail crying to the moon.
She even tried to use a romantic drama plot to move him: "Mr. Lewis, this is fate. You're a lawyer, and my brother got into trouble, proving we are destined."
But this jerk coldly replied, "So, does that mean funeral directors are destined to be lonely forever?"
At that moment, Anthony's expression remained unchanged. "I've always been this principled."
Howard was still passionately discussing his grand ideals. Rebecca couldn't listen anymore and interrupted expressionlessly, "He took your case because I seduced him. My bra strap even got torn. Oh, and Winona seduced her husband, who hadn't come home in three years. So, don't talk about lofty ideals. Think of ways to repay me and Winona."
The scene fell silent instantly.
After a while, Howard's voice, like a pig being slaughtered, rang out, "Anthony, you bastard! You took advantage of my sister. I'm going to kill you."
When Winona returned to the apartment, she saw Zachary standing at her door like a loyal dog. He was still dressed in the same clothes from noon, his features especially pronounced in the shadows.
He looked at her like a golden retriever locked out by its owner.
Winona raised an eyebrow and asked, "Mr. Ramsey, what brings you here?"
Zachary replied, "To prove to you that I am Zachary."
Winona was silent for a while, her gaze moving from his face to his legs. She swallowed and said, "Are you planning to take off your pants to show me?"
