Chapter 232 The Arena of Asura
Samuel raised an eyebrow. Although they hadn't personally participated in team-building activities before, they had seen them. These games that required teamwork were always a necessary part of such gatherings.
"Matthew, this is your first time joining such a group activity, right? You seem quite enthusiastic. I'll make sure to participate next time too," he said, but before he could finish his sentence, Zachary suddenly walked away, too fast for anyone to stop him.
Winona had initially planned to go through the motions casually, thinking it didn't matter if they dropped the keychain. However, her colleagues in the same group were nervously cheering them on, "Stay steady, don't drop it. This is the final step."
"Team A will win, come on, Winona! Whether we can get the five hundred dollar bonus per person depends on you. Stay focused," they encouraged.
Caught up in their emotions, Winona involuntarily adjusted her indifferent mindset and felt a newfound sense of honor in teamwork. She nervously aligned her straw with Matthew's, and then they cooperated to transfer the keychain from her end to his. The straw was soft, and a slight mistake could easily crush it under the keychain.
The more they progressed, the more nervous she became. The weather was pleasant that day, and the hall wasn't air-conditioned, causing sweat to form on her palms and back.
However, just as she concentrated all her focus and finally managed to transfer the keychain to Matthew's straw, someone suddenly grabbed her arm and forcefully pulled her back a few steps.
The metal keychain fell to the ground, making a crisp sound. The surrounding cheers instantly died down, and the lively atmosphere seemed to freeze as everyone looked in shock at the two unexpected intruders.
Winona's left and right arms were both held by someone. On her right was Zachary, and on her left was Austin. Despite their contrasting personalities and temperaments, their facial expressions were surprisingly cold and intimidating at that moment.
Matthew stood upright and took the straw from his lips. "We're having a team-building activity. Unrelated individuals, please leave, or I'll have security escort you out."
Winona being the central figure, felt none of the joy from being pursued by the three men. She was so embarrassed that she wished she could dig a hole and bury herself on the spot.
The coach tactfully led the other employees to the adjacent hall to continue the team-building activities. Once the door was closed, only the four individuals remained, along with Samuel, the only one brave enough to stay and watch the drama. He had asked the waiter to bring a small sofa and ordered some snacks.
He had been woken up early by Zachary, thinking it was something urgent. Little did he know that after such a long drive, without even having breakfast, it was all for this encounter at the resort. Now that the encounter had happened, it was just a bit more dramatic than expected.
Winona forcefully pulled her hands out of the grip of the two men, her anger distorting her features. "We were having a good team-building activity, why did you come and cause trouble?"
The last time Zachary appeared at the Watson Group, she had been teased by her colleagues for nearly half a month. Now, with the addition of Austin, she was bound to become the subject of everyone's gossip again.
Zachary's lips curled into a sinister smile, his face devoid of expression as he mocked, "Team-building? Which company designs such vulgar games for team-building? Right now, it's just a straw between you two, but later on, will it be a kiss? Is that also part of the team-building?"
Winona raised her hand to cover his mouth. If she had a tool at hand, she would have stuffed something in it.
Zachary's mouth was more like a cesspool.
There was at least a twenty-centimeter distance between her and Matthew. They couldn't possibly kiss.
Matthew frowned, his face darkening. "Zachary, you've gone too far."
Zachary raised an eyebrow, a look of extreme disdain and contempt born out of his anger. "Do you think you have the right to interfere in my affairs with her?"
You may appear gentle and magnanimous, with the noble air of a gentleman detached from worldly matters, but in reality, you are more scheming than a lotus root. He couldn't believe that Matthew didn't have a hand in this team-building event.
Austin, on the other hand, remained quiet, completely detached from the situation. It was as if he wasn't the one who had dragged Winona away from Matthew with a cold face.
However, deep down, he was silently rooting for the two about-to-fight individuals. They should have gone outside and had a good fight, preferably one where both of them ended up on the ground, unable to get up.
Matthew's eyes narrowed slightly. "My employee is being harassed by unrelated people, so of course, I have the right to intervene. But what about you, an ex-husband? What business do you still have with her?"
With a cold expression, Zachary grabbed Winona's wrist and started pulling her out. His actions were completely unpredictable, catching even Winona off guard.
Winona stumbled and took a few steps to keep up. "Zachary, where are you taking me?"
In a low and gritted voice, the man squeezed out three words, "To the court."
