Chapter 682 The Second Half of the Video

After Zachary dropped Winona off at Rebecca's place, he got a call from Richard. "Mr. Bailey, we've found the person."

Zachary pulled over and rubbed his temples. "I'll send you my location. Come pick me up."

When Richard arrived, Zachary was already in the back seat, eyes closed, pretending to nap. The car was still running, with the air conditioning on. "Mr. Bailey?"

"Drive," he said curtly.

In the underground parking lot of a mall.

The car had been parked there for a while, but Zachary stayed in the back seat with his eyes closed, showing no intention of getting out.

He was silent, and Richard didn't dare disturb him or make any decisions on his own. He could only occasionally glance at the rearview mirror.

He couldn't tell if Zachary was asleep or suffering from a headache, unable to open his eyes. His face revealed nothing.

One glance.

Another glance.

Suddenly, Zachary's expression changed. He furrowed his brow, his breathing became heavier, and a thin layer of sweat appeared on his forehead.

"Mr. Bailey, is your headache acting up again? Let me help you with that. Although I don't..."

Richard stopped himself in time, opened the car door, and moved to the back seat. He took over massaging Zachary's temples, using the method Maeve had taught him. "Maybe I should go up instead."

After practicing for a while, his technique had become quite skilled, almost professional.

After a while, Zachary's symptoms eased. He opened his eyes. "No need, I'm fine. Let's go."

They headed straight to a luxury women's clothing store on the fourth floor.

In the lounge area, a group of women were gathered, eating pastries and discussing the latest arrivals in various stores, creating a lively atmosphere.

As soon as Zachary entered, the women noticed him. Although they didn't recognize him, his presence and expensive attire were unmistakable.

The women exchanged glances, communicating silently.

Zachary walked over and stopped in front of one of them. "Hey, we need to talk."

Before the woman could respond, Richard had already swiftly escorted her friends out, leaving her stunned by his speed.

"Hi, I'm Zachary, Winona's fiancé."

She nervously gripped her cup, her voice trembling. She didn't know Zachary, but as soon as he mentioned Winona's name, she understood his purpose. "What do you need from me?"

"About Maeve's drowning incident, I heard from the police that you were a witness and recorded a video? I'm here to ask about what happened."

"I felt a bit suffocated at the party, so I went outside for some air and happened to see it. I just told the police what I saw, and I didn't know her identity. You can't blame me for that."

"I've seen the video. It ends right after Maeve falls into the water. Can you tell me what happened afterward?"

The video only showed part of the incident, and that part had made Winona a suspect in the case.

"I don't know. I was scared and went back to the party hall. I don't know what happened afterward. I only found out the next day when the police called that someone had died, and it was the woman who was pushed into the pool."

Zachary raised an eyebrow, half-smiling. "Scared? You were so scared you didn't dare to watch what happened next, but you had the guts to record a video?"

Her nails dug into the ceramic cup, a sign of her nervousness and guilt.

Zachary glanced at her, pretending not to notice, but his voice grew colder, taking on the tone he used in negotiations. "Are you sure you didn't see what happened after Winona left?"

"No."

"The police follow procedures, every move is regulated. But I don't. When I want to know something or do something, I always get my way, so my methods can be quite forceful. If you're unsure about my reputation, you can Google it."

She actually took out her phone and Googled him. It wasn't that she didn't believe Zachary, but she instinctively followed his instructions.

Ten minutes later.

Zachary left the clothing store with the second half of the video on his phone.

As he left, he said, "Thank you, but I'll need you to explain the rest to the police."

He instructed Richard to drive to Rebecca's store. He needed to pick up Winona and head to the police station to hand over the video.

The car stopped in front of Rebecca's store. Richard said, "Mr. Bailey, we're at Ms. Davis's store."

Zachary was lost in thought, staring out the window. Richard's words snapped him back to reality, and his unfocused gaze found a target.

He looked at the various antiques displayed outside and frowned. "Why are we here?"

His words trailed off, and his gaze froze. Through the floor-to-ceiling window of Rebecca's store, he saw Winona, smiling brightly.

Richard reminded him, "You came to talk to Mrs. Bailey about the video, to take it to the police together."

With Richard's reminder, Zachary's mind cleared, and he remembered. He opened the car door. "Wait here."

Winona was chatting with Rebecca when she saw Zachary walk in. She quickly stood up and walked towards him. "Didn't you say you had something to take care of? Done already?"

"Yeah, it was simple. The woman was easily scared and spilled everything in a few words. I have something to show you."

He played the video. In the silent footage, Maeve clung to a swim ring, staring intently in the direction of the party hall.

Winona said, "I left from that direction. I'm not sure if she was watching me."

The video wasn't static, but Maeve was. She stood there, unmoving, her eyes filled with complex emotions. Suddenly, she shivered slightly, then pushed the swim ring away and submerged her head in the water.

The pool wasn't deep. When her feet touched the bottom, the water only reached her chin. Her survival instinct made her stand up when she couldn't breathe.

Drowning in such a prepared manner was both physically and mentally torturous.

Winona asked, "With this video, can we prove Maeve committed suicide?"
