Chapter 261 You Were Not Afraid Of Dirty
"It's just a casual remark, not asking you to take it seriously and report it."
such information was not received in Mode City before. Every city had its dark corners. As long as it didn't cause a public uproar, only a few people knew about it. However, a very serious incident happened in Mode City recently, where someone dared to openly rob women with the backing of dark forces, causing a nationwide uproar. So, things had been particularly strict recently.
This hotel was quite bold.
His brows furrowed as he gazed sternly at Winona, the authority and dominance of a superior vividly on display in this moment.
"If I can investigate, others can investigate too. Since the other party dares to do such a thing, they must have some backing."
Winona understood this point. Otherwise, she wouldn't have changed her phone card before reporting to the police. However, having lived a comfortable life for too long, she neglected it, forgetting to switch back the card after making the call.
Perceiving her silence, Zachary assumed she interpreted his words as criticism, leaving her feeling aggrieved.
Recalling what Dylan said, that women need to be soothed, not scolded, he couldn't help but poke his cheek with his tongue. "If you encounter such a situation again, you don't need to act personally. Just tell me, and I'll handle it."
Winona was already prepared to sleep. The bright lights in the room were all off, with only a faint yellow light strip still on in the gap in the ceiling.
The darkness was just right, easily creating a hazy and ambiguous atmosphere. Just a light gaze between a man and a woman could ignite the flames of love.
Truly a high-end hotel, Winona felt that the lighting was filled with magic, making her feel like Zachary was shining at that moment.
She hesitated for a moment. "I do have a favor to ask of you. In return, you may stipulate your terms as compensation."
Zachary stirred his lips.
Winona said, "Except for matters of the heart."
Zachary was incensed by her evident desire to draw a clear line between them with an attitude that reeked of distance.
With a wry smile, he retorted, "You need not hold yourself in such high regard. Even if I am currently pursuing you, I refuse to compromise my standards, nor shall I assume that your acceptance is owed to me merely out of gratitude..."
Unlike someone else who, despite countless rejections from Winona, refused to abandon their dignity in pursuit of her.
Winona pretended not to hear his words, and he began to talk about business.
The conversation between them was not pleasant. They even argued. Finally, Zachary said coldly, "Think about it." And then the topic came to a halt.
Winona did not achieve the desired impact, leaving her in a state of discontent. With an expressionless visage, she briskly ushered, "The matter is concluded, and you may depart."
"When you needed a favor, you didn't rush me out. But now, you seem eager to bid me farewell. Are you not concerned that I might simply refuse?"
After a brief pause, Winona corrected, "There may be a misconception here. Informing you of this matter was not a request for collaboration. Your concurrence or dissent does not alter my decision. You serve as a security measure I have put in place for myself. I could seek assistance elsewhere. However, the level of security would be somewhat diminished."
Perhaps it was because Zachary always reached out to help her when she was in danger, so she almost never doubted that he was the one who could best ensure her safety.
The man pursed his lips, his tone firm. "Matthew can't help you."
Winona fell silent.
"He can't protect your safety. You're really foolish and have poor judgment."
Winona's temples pulsed steadily, her fists clenched tightly, impervious to Zachary's affluent standing as her anger blazed forth.
Intolerable!
She shot him a sidelong glance, her eyes narrowed. "Do you have the audacity to claim moral superiority? Even when you are at odds with Matthew, he mostly praises you in my presence. All you do is denigrate others all day, hoping for everyone to mirror your heartlessness."
Zachary, observing the furious Winona before him, narrowed his eyes dangerously. "So now, for the sake of that man, you wish to quarrel with me."
"If I say yes, are you prepared to hit me?"
Zachary was too angry. His irritable mood instantly calmed down, and he smirked, "Winona, you dare to provoke me like this. It's just because I spoil you. I won't really do anything to you."
He got off the bed and said, "I won't lay a hand on you, but there are many ways for a man to bully a woman. You haven't carefully looked around this room after moving in, have you? Come, let me show you something interesting."
"I don't need to," Winona replied.
Although Winona didn't know what he meant by "interesting", she guessed it wouldn't be something good. She remarked, "The matter is settled, you can leave."
Zachary reached out and pulled her shoulder, forcibly bringing Winona to the edge of the bed. "You can't leave at this time."
If it were merely this statement, Winona wouldn't have thought otherwise, presuming that he was simply alluding to the presence of police outside.
However, as he spoke, he also took down a decorative painting from above the bed, a placement that had struck her as odd before, given that typical paintings are displayed higher up, while this one was within arm's reach.
Once the painting was removed, it revealed a hidden door behind it, similar in size to the painting.
Zachary's fingers glided over its surface, gently pressing downward, causing the door to open, exposing an array of assorted items tucked inside.
Winona remained silent.
He casually picked up a prop and played with it in his hand, the flesh-colored prop sliding back and forth between his slender fingers. He played skillfully, making a sound as the prop moved in its packaging.
After demonstrating how to use it, he raised an eyebrow at Winona. "Why don't you give it a try?"
Blushing with embarrassment, Winona couldn't help but curse, "Get out, you're not afraid of dirty!"
Such matters would evoke indignation in any woman.
"These are disposable items. Once opened, they are considered purchased. Even if not taken away, housekeeping will dispose of them. Why not give it a try!"
He handed the item to her, the tip of the prop almost poking her face. "It looks quite fun."
Winona was so angry she almost fainted. "It seems that woman just taught you a lot. This hidden compartment is so secretive unless an insider brings it, it won't be discovered."
No one would be so bored as to take down a hotel's paintings to play with.
Every time Zachary stayed in a hotel, he habitually inspected the room carefully, making sure there were no cameras or hidden dangers. He had discovered this hidden compartment last night, and as for the woman just now, he had already sent her away when he came out of the bathroom.
Winona was so angry she wanted to hit him on the head!
Unfazed, he stripped the item of its packaging, turning it over in his hands like a curious object, devoid of any hint of sensuality. "Don't overthink it. I haven't tried it, so I'm curious."
