Chapter 308 Move In And Live With Me

At Bailey Group, Eva strutted out of the elevator with her bag in hand, and before she could reach Zachary's office door, Dylan stopped her. "Miss Turner, I'll take you to the reception room."

She was displeased and said, "Is there a guest in Mr. Bailey's office?"

She had been to the Bailey Group several times, but except for the first time with her dad, she had never been in Zachary's office. Every time, she was led to the reception room.

Dylan replied, "No, but Mr. Bailey usually meets with women in the reception room. It's a long-standing rule, and I hope you understand, Miss Turner."

"You said 'usually,' which means there are exceptions. If someone can be an exception, why can't I? Mr. Collins, are you targeting me on purpose?"

'Mainly because every time you look at Mr. Bailey, it's like you want to devour him.' Dylan thought to himself.

Dylan didn't say that. "Miss Turner, you're overthinking. The exception is Mr. Bailey's ex wife."

Eva's gaze turned a bit cold.

'Winona, Winona, she's everywhere.' Eva thought.

After Dylan led her into the reception room, he left. Zachary didn't keep her waiting long. After they finished their business talk, Eva propped her chin and asked, "Mr. Bailey, do you like Winona so much because of her face?"

Even though they were already divorced, every time Zachary mentioned Winona, he referred to her as "my wife." Not just him, even his subordinates did the same.

Zachary looked up, his gaze falling on Eva's face.

Her eyes were clear, full of curiosity, innocent and pure.

If only looked at this face, one wouldn't associate it with "malicious."

Eva continued, "Winona is so beautiful, any man would like her, right?"

Zachary crossed his legs and leaned back on the sofa, lighting a cigarette. "I like her, not because she's beautiful."

He wasn't lying.

The first time he saw Winona, she had just fought with Layla and got slapped by Carlos. Her face was swollen like a pig's head, her hair a mess, her face covered in dirt, her clothes torn and dirty, looking like she had just rolled in a mud pit. There was no way to tell if she was pretty or not.

She went to River Garden to find Matthew but was stopped by security at the gate. He was the one who had brought her in.

Winona hadn't known him at the time, but when she heard him say he would take her to see Matthew, she got in his car without any hesitation.

One moment she was fiercely arguing with the security, the next she was sitting pitifully by the car door, tears streaming down her dirty face—a moment so surreal it could be a meme.

Thinking of the past, Zachary smiled wryly. If she had met a bad person, she would have been sold off.

"I like her because she's Winona..."

The next second, he stubbed out his cigarette on a metal doll ornament, right on its face, burning it black.

"But if anyone dares to ruin her face, I'll make sure they lose theirs."

After a brief silence, Eva rubbed her arms, looking scared. "Mr. Bailey, you scared me."

At the hospital, Winona followed Zachary into the elevator.

She had just returned home today when she saw Zachary waiting at the entrance, saying he wanted to take her to the hospital to see someone, but he didn't say who.

Seeing his serious face and obviously bad mood, Winona worried it was something wrong with Lydia's heart and hurriedly followed him.

"Who are we seeing?"

Just as she asked, the elevator arrived, and the door opened to reveal a large sign for the surgical department.

Zachary walked into one of the wards with familiarity. A young woman sat on the bed, half her face wrapped in bandages. Winona frowned, scrutinizing her, sure she didn't know her.

The woman said, "Mr. Bailey."

The address gave Winona a vague guess, but she wasn't sure.

Zachary said, "Take off the bandages on your face."

The woman obediently did so, revealing a long, jagged scar from her cheekbone to her jaw, looking very gruesome.

Zachary's next words confirmed her guess. "She was the waitress who drank with Eva that night. The doctor said the wound is too long and deep, no amount of money can completely remove the scar."

Winona looked at the scar on the woman's face, unable to imagine how a girl in her twenties would live with such a scar.

Even after leaving the hospital, she was still in a low mood. "Why did you bring me here? What are you trying to say?"

"No witnesses, no surveillance, the scene was a slope with signs of slipping, and the place where her face hit had a protruding stone. All evidence points to an accidental fall, and she was drunk that night, so she doesn't remember the details."

"So?"

"She has to accept her bad luck."

Winona asked, "Why are you telling me this?"

Zachary looked at her, his eyes deep and unreadable. "Eva asked me today if I liked your face."

Winona's heart skipped a beat, and she reflexively touched her face. "You're such a troublemaker, always attracting these kinds of women. Fuck! Who knows what a jealous woman like that might do! Stay away from me."

Thinking of the scar on that woman's face, she couldn't help but curse.

Although it looked like an accident, and the injured person said it was an accident, Eva had been surrounded by such "accidents" all her life. The injured were always those prettier and better than her, but after so many times, clearly it was no longer accidents.

Those people just didn't have the power of the Turner family and were forced to compromise.

Zachary sneered. "Is it my fault you were targeted in A City? Is it possible that Eva came to Dreamopolis with you as her original target?"

Winona fell silent.

Could it be that the people after her, seeing those photos didn't make Zachary abandon her, sent Eva to carry out the next step?

The Turner family is really a den of ruthless people, not a single good person. Eva, at such a young age, is already so vicious, her parents must be no better.

Zachary leaned in close to her ear. "Move in and live with me."

His voice was low and husky, easily evoking some steamy, suggestive images.
