Chapter 347 Let's Try Again

The woman paused in her movement and said softly, "My whole body hurts."

Austin remained silent.

For the first twenty years of his life, everything had gone smoothly for Austin, but this year, all the accumulated bad luck seemed to hit him at once.

Although it wasn't his fault, he still had to do what needed.

Austin surveyed his surroundings, noticing the absence of cars at that moment. However, he was aware that if one came by, both of them would be hit.

Austin had an injury on his leg, making it difficult to squat. He half-knelt and asked, "Can you move? If the injury isn't serious, I'll help you to the side of the road to wait for an ambulance. It's dangerous to stay in the middle of the road."

Just as he finished speaking, the call in his hand connected.

Austin said, "Hello, this is Sunset Boulevard. We need an ambulance. The injured person..."

He was about to ask about the woman's condition when she grabbed his hand holding the phone and said, "I'm fine. I don't need to go to the hospital."

The woman stood up from the ground, tucking her hair behind her ear to reveal a face that was beautiful even in its disheveled state. She had an oval face with big and expressive eyes, lively features, and long, thick black eyelashes that concealed her emotions well.

Seeing that she could stand properly and didn't seem to be in pain, Austin assumed her injuries weren't serious. Howevr, he still said, "It's safer to go to the hospital for a check-up. What if it's an internal injury?"

Abigail Watson glanced at him and then showed him her elbow, which was scraped and bleeding. "My hands and knees are scraped. Can you help me bandage them?"

Without a first aid kit in the car, Austin took her directly to a clinic.

After the doctor bandaged her injuries, he wrote a phone number on a sticky note from the doctor's desk and handed it to her. "Since you don't want to go to the hospital, let's deal with it this privately. I'll transfer five thousand dollars to you. If you feel uncomfortable..."

"I don't have a phone."

Austin thought she just didn't have it with her and said, "I'll get you cash."

Abigail looked at him intently. "You hit me, and now my whole body hurts. I need a place to recover."

Austin detected something unusual in her words and smirked, "So?"

"Let me stay at your home," said the woman.

It was the first time Austin had seen someone be so brazen. He leaned against the desk, one foot on the floor. "Miss, I live alone. I'm a strong man. Aren't you afraid I might take advantage of you?"

Abigail glanced at his face. "Then we each get what we need, and I don't lose out."

Austin coughed repeatedly, surprised by her boldness.

"If you're having a conflict with your family and don't want to go back, I'll book you a hotel room. You can stay there until you cool off," he suggested.

"I don't have any money," Abigail replied.

Now Austin was sure she had run away from home in a fit of anger without even bringing money.

Abigail frowned, looking troubled. "I don't seem to have a home."

"Seem?" Austin asked.

"I can't remember."

"Amnesia?" Austin felt a headache coming on and laughed. "Even TV shows don't use amnesia plots anymore. You might as well say you fancy me and want to come home with me."

Abigail held her head, frowning. "I got hit, and my head hurts. I can't remember."

'Is she really latching onto me?' Austin thought.

At Regal Oaks, as soon as Austin drove away, Zachary put his arm around Winona's shoulder and led her inside.

Quinn came out of the kitchen with a dish. "Mr. Bailey, Mrs. Bailey, dinner is ready."

"Okay," Winona responded. Just as she was about to walk over, Zachary picked her up. His face was expressionless, yet his anger was palpable.

The sudden lift made Winona instinctively wrap her arms around his neck. Once she adjusted, she dug her nails into Zachary's hard shoulder muscle. "Put me down."

Zachary carried her upstairs. "Keep the food warm, Quinn. You can go home now. Starting tomorrow, you don't need to stay here anymore."

Winona's face turned red with embarrassmentd and anger. She kicked her legs. "I'm hungry. I want to eat. Put me down."

Afraid Quinn would hear, she leaned close to Zachary and whispered.

Winona was in Zachary's arms, her head close to Zachary's chest. His warm breath seeped through his shirt, leaving a damp spot.

Zachary's body tensed as a tingling sensation was spreading from that spot, causing goosebumps all over. His Adam's apple bobbed, and a low, almost inaudible groan escaped his throat-sexy and husky.

Zachary looked down, his handsome features tinged with desire. "Do you want to try it on the stairs?"

Winona's eyes widened in shock. Before she could respond, Zachary had already opened the master bedroom door and carried her inside.

The curtains were open, and the golden sunset streamed in, covering the floor.

Zachary's breath was uneven. He set her down and kicked the door shut.

The moment Winona touched the ground, she tried to distance herself from him. "I'm hungry."

Zachary said, "I'm hungry too."

His gaze lingered on her, deep and intense, like an invisible net wrapping around her.

She felt suffocated.

Winona suspected that Zachary's "hungry" didn't mean the same as hers, but now wasn't the time to clarify.

She nodded and turned to open the door. "Let's go eat. The food won't taste good if it sits too long."

Before she could finish, Zachary kissed her.

Winona had her back to him. He didn't turn her around but pressed her against the door, one hand cupping her face as he kissed her.

Her back was tightly against Zachary's chest, their bodies perfectly aligned with no space between them.

Zachary didn't close his eyes. His gaze was fixed on her flawless, porcelain-like face. Their eyes met, and his chest heaved with his heavy breathing. "Winona, let's try again."

Compared to last time, his kissing skills had improved. Winona's mind went blank, and she instinctively asked, "Try what?"
