Chapter 202: Zachary, Do You Love Me?

Winona searched for news about her reunion with Zachary, wanting to see where the rumors came from, but she found nothing.

Oh well, it was probably just some crazy person spreading gossip. It didn't have any real impact, so she decided not to bother with it and threw her phone aside.

But as soon as she got back home, she received a call from Rebecca Davis. Her surprising and loud voice almost burst Winona's eardrums. "Are you getting back together with Zachary?"

"No."

"You scared me! I thought you were tempted by three billion dollars, wanting to lie down and become a standard rich housewife."

Winona was a bit hungry, so she put her phone on speaker and chatted with Rebecca Davis while cooking spaghetti. "Am I unworthy of being a standard rich housewife?"

The apartment didn't have a kitchen, so she bought an induction cooker. Sometimes, when she was hungry and too lazy to go out, she would just cook spaghetti.

"You are far from standard. Those rich housewives, they can endure anything. Even if their husbands have one mistress or seven or eight, along with a bunch of illegitimate children, as long as it doesn't threaten their own status, they turned a blind eye. Some even have affairs themselves."

A wealthy marriage was not just a marriage. It was also connected to two families and numerous properties. It wasn't easy to get divorced for rich people.

Winona, who spent three years involved on the marriage and ended up with three billion dollars in debt was an exception.

"You, with your straightforward nature, are not suited for this kind of marriage."

No matter how intense the emotions were, they eventually became dull. To have a lifelong partnership, you needed principles, boundaries and the ability to resist temptation. Did Zachary have that?

It had only been three years, and he couldn't withstand loneliness and had a fiery affair with Fiona. Even if he managed to stay faithful this time, what about the next time? A man like Zachary never lacked women who throw herself on him. How many times can he resist?

But Rebecca Davis didn't say these things. Even though she was Winona's best friend, she knew it was not appropriate to intervene too much in matters of love relationships.

Listening to this, Winona wanted to laugh. Her hands shook while cutting onions, nearly cutting herself. "Don't worry, I won't get back together with Zachary, and I won't become a rich housewife who finds mistresses for her husband. In my second marriage, I'll find a man who is afraid of his wife and use force to suppress him. No matter how many tricks he has up his sleeve, I'll keep him inline."

"Then why don't you find someone principled, like Austin Robinson?" Rebecca Davis who shipped this couple, was particularly enthusiastic when it came to advocating for her favorite. "Soldiers have strong principles, and they hardly see any women in the military all year round. He is good-looking and has that kind of attractive and bad-boy personality that makes women fall for him. With him, you will certainly not be lonely."

Unlike Zachary, who was as cold as a stone sculpture.

The problem was, he was not only gruff but also monosyllabic.

Winona asked, "Did you take his money? Zachary paid $500 to stop you from calling him a 'dog of a man,' but how much did Austin Robinson give you? Is that why you're praising him so much?"

Rebecca Davis responded, "Talking about money can hurt relationships. Can't it be that I think you are a good match and I want to help create a beautiful marriage?"

At that moment, there was a knock on the door. Winona looked towards the direction of the door.

Lately, she had been leaving early and coming home late, and it had been a long time since anyone visited her. "Let me hang up, someone is knocking on the door."

She walked to the door, taking a look outside through the peephole.

As if he knew she was looking out, Zachary lifted his gaze and locked eyes with her. "Open the door."

Winona held onto the doorknob and said coldly, "What do you want?"

Zachary smirked, his tone filled with mockery. "Let's talk about our remarriage."

Thinking that he came because of the rumor that she didn't know how it started, she opened the door. "I didn't spread that rumor and I'm actually investigating who the lunatic was that spread it. But I have already issued a statement to clarify."

However, she was a small figure with insignificant words, so not many people probably noticed.

"You can also have the PR department of the Bailey Group issue another one."

She stood in the doorway, not intending to let Zachary in.

Zachary was taller than her and his gaze shifted beyond her. In one glance, he saw the bowl of hot spaghetti on the coffee table. He licked his lips, and his Adam's apple rolled gently. "I'm hungry."

Winona didn't understand. "If you're hungry, go eat."

The man stood still, and his expression wasn't great either. Winona finally realized that he wanted to eat the bowl of noodles she had just made. "You can forget it. That's for me."

"Didn't you want to know who spread that crazy rumor? I'll trade it for that bowl of spaghetti."

Winona wasn't particularly interested in knowing who spread it. As long as it was clarified and didn't cause any misunderstandings, it didn't matter who spread it. "What if I refuse?"

Zachary smiled, but it was not as warm as Matthew Watson's smile. It was rather an eerie smirk. "Then I'll just stand here, and no one can eat."

No wonder it took five million dollars to force someone to change their nickname. Without a bit of money, the label of "dog man" cannot be removed.

Zachary sat on the couch like a master. "Where are the forks?"

Winona threw him a fork and sat angrily next to him.

"Aren't you going to eat?"

"I only cooked this one bowl."

Zachary frowned. "Then go cook another bowl. Do I need to teach you something so simple?"

Winona gritted her teeth. "This is the only bowl and fork I have."

"..."

"Spit it out. Who spread the news?"

"Why make a statement?"

"Well, what else can I do? Should I let the rumors fly all over the place?"

Zachary silently ate his spaghetti. Winona knew about their family rule of not speaking while eating, but this was her home, not the Bailey family's. "If you're not going to speak, then get out..."

"You agreed to remarry."

"When did I agree to remarry you?" Winona's voice suddenly stopped, and her eyes widened slightly. "You spread it, didn't you?"

Zachary lost his appetite. He put down his fork and his face turned cold, with a daunting glare in his eyes. "I said I would eat the meal you ordered and fulfill my husband duties. You didn't object. Wasn't that agreeing to remarry?"

Winona, ‘You're really clever. I was clearly being sarcastic and ignoring you!’

Winona didn't explain. She directly brought up the issue between them. "Remarry? Why remarry? Why should I remarry you, Zachary? Do you love me?"

Zachary was speechless.

His silence was expected by Winona. She wasn't disappointed, she just sneered. "If you want to remarry, do it in your next life. I hope to be as far away from you as possible."
