Chapter 567 Ambiguous Atmosphere

After dinner, Zachary and Winona headed back to Regal Oaks.

Once they parked, Winona took the wheelchair out of the trunk. After Zachary settled into it, she opened the back door and grabbed a shopping bag.

Zachary knew Winona had gone shopping that afternoon and had bought gifts for his parents. Seeing the shopping bag in her hand, he didn't think much of it. He wasn't worried about Winona spending money; he was more concerned she wouldn't spend enough. If she spent so much that no other man could afford her, then no one would try to take her from him.

Thinking about this, Zachary felt the urge to hand over his bank card again.

Inside, Winona took a gift box out of the shopping bag and handed it to him. "Here's the wallet I promised you. See if you like it."

Mr. Bailey, usually quick to react, was momentarily stunned by the gift box in front of him. He quickly recovered and took it. "If it's from you, I'll love it."

Winona glanced at his leg in a cast. "Don't use body wash tonight. Use dish soap to get rid of the grease."

Zachary suspected that glance was her calculating if she could hit him. "But when the male leads in those dramas say things like this, don't you all smile and wish you could bring the courthouse to them?"

Zachary had learned these lines from watching dramas and reading the comments.

Winona replied, "Stop watching those dramas. Watch some fantasy shows instead."

Though the lines were absurd, at least they weren't greasy and disgusting.

Zachary was speechless.

What do you do when your wife has no sense of romance?

Faced with Winona's bluntness, Zachary swallowed his sweet words and silently opened the gift box, afraid that if he said another word, his body wash would be replaced with dish soap.

The wallet was simple in design, just the kind Zachary liked. He took out his old wallet, transferred his cards and cash to the new one, and then looked up at Winona. "Thank you."

Feeling a bit deflated, Zachary didn't even say he liked it.

Winona took another gift box from the shopping bag and handed it to him, her voice a bit low. "Congratulations on being discharged. Welcome home."

Zachary was speechless.

Having never received a gift from Winona before, getting two in a row left him feeling overwhelmed. "Is this for me too?"

Who would have thought that Zachary, who lacked for nothing, would one day be so excited over a not-so-expensive gift, almost flailing in disbelief?

Winona knelt. "Yes."

She opened the gift box and took out a tie. "Do you like it? I spent a long time choosing it, my eyes hurt from looking."

She had strained her eyes. She had gone to the largest luxury shopping center in Dreamopolis and picked one tie out of thousands, almost giving herself a squint.

The next second, Zachary leaned in, cupping Winona's face, and his cool lips brushed her eyelids lightly, as if afraid of hurting her. "Does it still hurt?"

As he spoke, his lips brushed her skin, tickling her. His breath fell on her forehead, making Winona tense up, her fingers curling and gripping his sleeve. "It doesn't hurt anymore."

This action created a subtle, intimate atmosphere.

Zachary straightened up, his voice low and magnetic, "Then put it on me."

Ties need to be worn to see their effect, ideally with the right outfit. But under Zachary's intense gaze, Winona felt nervous, holding the tie without moving. "We're about to sleep. Let's try it tomorrow. Besides, this outfit doesn't match well."

Zachary laughed freely, his already handsome face even more captivating with his good mood. "It's okay. I'm good-looking enough to pull off any mix."

Winona was speechless.

You were shameless, praising yourself like that.

But Zachary's words dispelled her nervousness. She draped the tie around his neck and focused on tying it. During this time, Zachary's gaze remained on her, making it hard to ignore.

Five days later, at the Dreamopolis Museum.

Returning here, Winona felt a mix of emotions. Although she had only worked part-time and had distant relationships with her colleagues, seeing the familiar environment made her feel a bit nostalgic. She had casually mentioned to Rebecca to keep an eye out for job opportunities, and the next morning, she received a call from Caleb inviting her back to work at the museum.

Caleb personally came to pick her up, smiling warmly. "Windy, it's wonderful that you agreed to come back."

"I genuinely love this field. I had to leave temporarily for certain reasons. Even if you hadn't called, I would have thickened my skin and come back eventually."

This was just polite talk. Everyone knew that with Windy's skills and reputation, she wouldn't lack work. But it was still nice to hear.

Winona sincerely thanked him. "Thank you and Mr. Stokes for helping with the appraisal show incident."

"Someone specifically invited us. I was puzzled why an appraisal show would give us tickets and insist we attend. Later, I found out..." He smiled at Winona. "You know who it was, right? Even if we weren't there, you could have handled it."

The show was live, and all the viewers saw the dispute. Afterward, Matthew called to apologize, indicating he hadn't known about the incident beforehand. Hearing Caleb's words, Winona immediately thought of Zachary.

Winona smiled, her eyes bright. "But I still appreciate you and Mr. Stokes. It would have been troublesome otherwise."

In this field, seniority mattered a lot. She was a newcomer in appraisals, and other appraisers disagreed with her, including a highly respected expert. And it was a live show, with no time to prove her point.

Even if she proved her appraisal was correct after the show, how many people would know? The production team could buy a few articles, and her hard-earned reputation could be ruined, possibly leading to harsh criticism.

Caleb led her to the A team's workspace. "I have something to show you."

Winona followed him, and when she saw what was in front of her, she couldn't believe it. "How is this possible?"
