Chapter 494 Rabies Shot

Matthew knew, Samuel knew, and their parents definitely knew—Zachary was the only one clueless. He was making a fool of himself in front of them. Even if Winona was mad at him now, he thought having this kid would eventually help him win her back. But then...

Zachary looked down at the pillow in his arms, which he had squeezed out of shape, and remembered the cheap ten-dollar pillow Winona had given him. At the time, he thought her words were weird, but he didn't think much of it.

Turns out, that was his kid.

Winona knew Zachary must be feeling awful right now. She had planned to find the right time to tell him the truth, but in a moment of impulse, she...

She said, "Zachary, there was no other way at the time. After you disappeared, the other shareholders of the Bailey Group were all eager to make their moves. Although Dad wanted me to join the Bailey Group, it wasn't legit, and I faced a lot of pushback, so..."

Even if Winona didn't say it, Zachary knew. He had come to confirm whether Winona was pregnant, but after confirming it, he didn't know how to react.

He lowered his hand, gripping the pillow like he was strangling it. He said, "I know. I'll go back tonight. We'll find a time to talk about the kid."

He opened the door and stepped out, seeing Matthew still standing there with no intention of leaving. Zachary grabbed him and pulled him out. "You've delivered the person; now leave. Do you need to be kicked out?"

Matthew confidently said, "Don't worry, Winona won't..."

Before he could finish, Winona slammed the door shut, leaving the two childish men outside. Finally, there was silence.

Winona stared at the closed security door, still able to hear the faint sounds of their argument outside. Only when the noise faded did she let out a long sigh. It was a miracle the company hadn't collapsed under their management.

After taking a shower, Winona lay on the bed and video-called Rebecca. She had left without saying goodbye last night, and when she called Rebecca later, Rebecca only said a few words before hanging up. She wondered what Rebecca was up to.

The video connected, and Rebecca's enlarged face appeared on the screen. She was wearing a face mask, and her voice was muffled. "What's up, baby?"

Winona shivered. "Talk properly. Isn't your baby that group of men you were drinking with last night?"

After a few seconds of silence, Rebecca didn't respond to the joke. She quietly massaged her face with her fingers.

Winona asked, "Did Mr. Lewis take you home last night?"Although Anthony was a shark in business, he was quite the gentleman in person. He also had a thing for Rebecca, so he probably took her home.

But Rebecca got all riled up at the mention of it. She didn't care if talking with a face mask would cause wrinkles. "How dare you! You left me alone. If Anthony had any bad intentions, I might be dead by now."

Winona was speechless.

Last night, she got a call from Dylan about some urgent business. Knowing Anthony would keep Rebecca safe and seeing Rebecca in the middle of an argument, Winona didn't want to disturb her.

Rebecca, tired of holding the phone, placed it on a stand and leaned back on the sofa.

She was wearing a low-cut nightgown, and as she moved away from the camera, most of her body was exposed. Winona immediately noticed the hickey on Rebecca's collarbone, partially hidden by her neckline. Winona asked sternly, "Did he mess with you last night?"

Hearing this, Rebecca instinctively touched the mark on her neck, her voice seething with anger. Even the face mask couldn't hide her furious expression. "He's like a dog. He bit me! I even saw a doctor today to find out if I need a rabies shot."

After she had called him all sorts of names like pervert, creep, and sleazebag, Anthony had surprisingly taken it all in stride, not retaliating at all. Rebecca had found it strange at the time, wondering when he had become so easygoing.

She had naively thought he had realized his mistake and decided not to argue back.

In reality, she wasn't just naive; she was foolish. Anthony hadn't just tossed all her little gifts in the trash—he had bitten her the moment they got in the car.

And he bit her on the collarbone, such an intimate spot.

It was a genuine bite, the pain jolting right to Rebecca's brain, leaving two rows of tooth marks.

Rebecca continued to rant while pulling down her neckline to show the bite mark on her collarbone. She exclaimed, "Do you think he's crazy? He might even be a domestic abuser in the future."

Hearing such explosive news, Winona was silent for a while before responding. "You're thinking too far ahead. Shouldn't you be thinking about beating him up every time you see him or never seeing him again? Besides, domestic violence refers to violence between family members. You and him, at most, would be considered assault."

After waiting for a while without a response from Rebecca, Winona was about to speak when the video call was cut off.

Winona couldn't help but laugh. She didn't call back; instead, she grabbed the water cup from her bedside table, took a sip, and opened WhatsApp to check for any urgent messages. Spotting an unread message from Zachary at the top, she nearly spat her water out.
