Chapter 363 Mr. Bailey, You Have Quite a Few Tricks Up Your Sleeve

Afterwards, Winona sprawled on the bed, totally wiped out, with a hint of desire still hanging in the air. She glanced at the open box of condoms on the nightstand. "Why the hell are there condoms in my room?"

Zachary scooped her up and carried her to the bathroom, his voice dripping with post-coital smugness. "Just in case."

Winona's hands couldn't get wet, so she had to settle for a bath. He plopped her on the vanity and went to fill the tub.

Bored out of her mind, she started fiddling with the drawer under the sink. She only cracked it open a bit, just to kill time, not planning to grab anything. But one time, she yanked too hard, and the drawer slid open about a hand's length. She peeked inside and saw a glaring box. Winona's eyes went wide. "You even stash 'just in case' stuff in the bathroom?"

The tub was almost full. Zachary walked over but didn't rush to get her in. Instead, he knelt, spread her legs, and lowered his head, signaling her to look. "This spot's pretty prime."

Winona stayed silent.

She started to fume. When Zachary leaned in for another kiss, she lifted her foot and pressed it against his chest. "From now on, keep your distance, or you'll blow your probation period."

She quickly pulled her foot back and hopped off the vanity. "Now, get out."

Zachary hugged her from behind, scared their hard-earned closeness would vanish. "You asked, so I answered. I couldn't just say it was for decoration, right? Or would you rather I make up some lame excuse?"

Winona's anger cooled a bit. She glared at him, still annoyed. "Where else do you have these?"

What if someone came over and found this stuff? She'd die of embarrassment.

Zachary held her tighter. "Let's take a bath first. I'll spill the beans later."

Winona sensed something fishy. She broke free, grabbed a bathrobe, and marched to the tub. She opened the cabinet on the wall. It usually held aromatherapy stuff, but now it had a box of condoms and a pair of handcuffs.

The room went dead silent, the steam making it feel even more eerie.

Winona pulled out the items. She thought she was mad before, but now she was fuming. The word "dildo" on the box made her blood boil, her whole body felt like it was on fire.

"Mr. Bailey, you've got quite the stash of sex toys, even handcuffs? Quite the pro, huh?" She spat out each word through gritted teeth, clearly pissed. "You haven't even learned to walk, and you wanna run? You're still on probation and already thinking this far ahead. Why don't you just fly to the moon?"

Zachary said, "The handcuffs were from Austin."

Winona looked puzzled.

'Blaming others when you can't explain yourself? Zachary, how low can you go?'

"You saw it last time, didn't you? He used them on me. If you don't like them, we can toss them." The pair Austin used on him had long been broken, but it had given him an idea. He later asked Austin for another pair, though he didn't say it was for Winona. Otherwise, even if Austin were dead tired, he'd jump out of bed to beat him up.

As Zachary spoke, he reached out to grab the items, planning to ditch them fast. Winona raised her hand to block him. "Oh, you like using handcuffs, huh? Next time, I'll use them on you."

She tossed the handcuffs and condoms into the storage box. "Get out. I need to bathe. And keep your distance from now on."

"We just hooked up. Can I be your boyfriend now?" Zachary was dead set on making it official. Probation was too shaky; one slip-up and he’d be out. Unlike regular interns with labor law protections, his status was all about Winona's mood.

Winona decided to mess with him. "Mr. Bailey, how can you be so playful and yet so naive? Having sex means we have to get married? If that were the case, experts wouldn't need to go to great lengths to promote marriage rates."

Given her current situation, how could she even think about that?

This time it was acid, what if next time it had been a knife?

Zachary pursed his lips, clearly bummed, but he didn't push her. "Don't let your wound get wet, or I'll have to bathe you next time."

He headed to the master bedroom, took a shower, changed clothes, and went to find Anthony.

In the bathroom.

Winona closed her eyes and carefully replayed everything, including the details she hadn't noticed or had forgotten.

The last time she went to see Xavier, nothing happened because he didn't say anything. This time, he was about to tell her something when his son was kidnapped. Coincidentally, just as he was about to speak, a prison guard rushed in with a phone. Was it really such a coincidence?

So, all these years, someone had never stopped monitoring Xavier, and there were people in the prison working for them.

The only ones who could contact him at any time were the prison guards or Xavier's wife.

She had always had a private detective keeping an eye on Xavier. A few days ago, his wife visited him. His son's condition suddenly worsened, and he was sent to the ICU. So, although the monthly visitation quota was used up, the prison guards secretly allowed a few more visits due to Xavier's good behavior and the special circumstances.

She must have known about the conditions Winona proposed and that she would visit the prison today.

Winona changed clothes and went downstairs. Rebecca was sitting on the living room sofa, munching on fruit that Quinn had cut for her. Zachary and Anthony were nowhere to be seen.

Rebecca waved her over. "Winona, come have some fruit."

Winona walked over, holding a sheet of A4 paper. She sat down and started scribbling.

Rebecca peeked over. "What are you drawing?"

"The Turner Family's family tree."

"You think today's mess was the Turner Family's doing?" Rebecca knew Winona was digging into her mom's death, but she wasn't in on the details.

Winona didn't look up. She had been investigating the Turner Family for a while and had a clear understanding of their tangled relationships. So, she could draw it out without checking the computer. "Not suspect, I'm certain."

She recounted the unexpected events during her prison visit. When she mentioned the phone call, Winona paused, feeling a bit melancholic. "I'm thinking, if I hadn't hesitated for those few seconds, Xavier might have told me everything he knew."

Rebecca said, "Do you want to know what I would do if I were Xavier?"
