Chapter 269 Annoying Smell

Dylan immediately closed his eyes, disregarding that Zachary was his boss, and shoved what he held into Zachary's hands. "Oh, Mr. Bailey, my eyes hurt so much. What are these? See for yourself."

At that moment, he wished he was blind. Why was he so unlucky? Why did he come down to pick up a delivery just now? And why did he have to open it in front of Mr. Bailey?

The envelope contained photos, probably taken at some entertainment venue, with decorations from over a decade ago, lavishly adorned, resembling a place frequented by the wealthy.

But all of that didn't matter. What mattered was that the protagonist of the photos was madam!

She was being half-carried and half-supported by a man. Although madam's attire was much more conservative compared to those skimpy dresses worn at nightclubs, there was still a distinct difference between choosing to present oneself in this manner and having another person strip you down to such a state.

Zachary put the photos back in the envelope and glanced at Dylan, who was still covering his eyes, "Go find out who sent this."

When Winona entered the museum, she immediately heard a man shouting, agitatedly, "Aren't you afraid of damaging such an irreplaceable treasure of the world? That merchant is completely ignorant, talking about patriotism and cultural relics. Even if you brought them back, you don't have the expertise to restore them."

"Restoring cultural relics is not the same as commercial restoration. It's about restoring them to their original state. Our country's technology for restoring cultural relics is globally leading. Although I'm not the best in our country or this industry, I'm still among the top. if you don't appreciate my participation, it will be fine, but to reject me and proceed with such reckless restoration is simply damaging the relics."

The voice was coming from Caleb's office.

Winona walked in and happened to meet a colleague, she raised her chin slightly towards the office. "What's going on?"

"This person is here to gain experience for himself."

Winona was puzzled.

In restoration industry, experience was greatly valued because the items requiring restoration were irreplaceable treasures. Once damaged, the losses incurred would be immeasurable. Therefore, the more tricky relics one had restored, the higher their status in the field and the more job opportunities they would have.

Even though experience was valued locally, the breadth of job opportunities vastly exceeded that of overseas. Our country was renowned for its cultural relics, with an estimated collection of over thirty million items at various levels, and it was still growing rapidly. However, there were only over two thousand professionals who had mastered the mature technology of restoring cultural relics.

So, most people weren't so keen on accumulating experience.

The colleague continued, "He's been in Caleb's office all morning. You didn't see his initial attitude, it was as if he was pitying us with his offer to join. I thought he was some kind of amazing expert!"

"Did Caleb agree?" Winona had heard that Caleb didn't want to involve foreign experts unless it was certain that no one domestically could handle the restoration.

Those relics belonged to our country, , and yet they were stolen and damaged.  He didn't want to seek help from the thieves.

As an old artist, he was very angry.

He wanted those arrogant foreigners to know that the restoration technology in our country had been improving over the years and was no less than that of any other country.

The colleague shook his head. "No, if Caleb had agreed, that person wouldn't be shouting so loudly. The whole museum is annoyed by him. Let him shout, even if he loses his voice, no one will pay him any attention."

Winona was speechless for a moment. "That's quite a brazen thing to say."

After chatting for a while, the two went about their own business.

As Winona was leaving, she saw Daniel Ross sneakily standing at the office door, trying to peek inside.

They were supposed to have a meeting today, but Caleb received a last-minute notice from his superiors and had to leave, so the meeting was postponed to tomorrow.

After work, instead of going to the hillside villa, she went straight home because it was still early. She bought groceries, intending to cook for herself. She had thought of calling Rebecca to join her, but Rebecca had been on a diet lately, only eating light meals for dinner.

As she stepped out of the elevator, she saw Zachary standing at her door.

"Why are you here?"

Zachary glanced at the groceries in her hands and instinctively hid the folder behind him, "I helped you in City A after all. It's about time you treat me to a meal to show your gratitude."

Winona should be grateful.

She was also thinking about how to thank him. He wasn't short of money, and he wasn't a professional bodyguard. If she gave him money, it would be a bit insulting. Now that Zachary had taken the initiative, Winona also casually said, "When will it be convenient for you? I'll call you after I book a restaurant."

Zachary pursed his lips and reached for the groceries in her hands. "I'm free now."

Actually, Winona didn't want to go out again, but since he had come to collect his reward, she couldn't refuse. She dodged Zachary's reaching hand. "Wait for me, I'll change into something else."

When inviting someone to dinner, the taste of the food isn't as important as the sincerity. It should match the other person's style. For someone of Zachary's status, the more expensive, the better.

Many high-end restaurants required formal attire. Winona had been on a business trip for the past few days and had been dressing comfortably. With her T-shirt and jeans, she probably wouldn't even be allowed into a high-end restaurant.

Zachary's extended hand fell to his side, empty. His mood, already sour, darkened further when he heard her intent to change clothes - it wasn't hard to guess what she was planning, and it did not please him.

If Zachary had a tail, it would definitely be drooping now. "Why do you need to change clothes?"

"To take you out for dinner, right?"

"Being with me, you don't need to change wherever you go. Wear whatever you want, even a bikini, and they wouldn't dare not let you in."

Winona remained silent.

Such an arrogant man. No one would wear a bikini to a meal. It was not a beach.

"You've bought groceries, there's no need to go out again. It would be a waste if you don't eat them."

Winona opened the door. "They can go in the fridge, and I can have them tomorrow."

Zachary's head was pounding with frustration, and he became more straightforward. "I don't want to eat out. Winona, I want to eat what you cook. If you want to thank me, you need to show some sincerity."

Afraid of her refusal, Zachary decided to be direct.

Winona shrugged. "Alright, as long as you don't mind."

Since there was no dedicated exhaust system, cooking wasn', and she couldn't cook heavy-flavored dishes. Usually, she could only make noodles.

Today, she had bought groceries out of a sudden interest in making light dishes.

Zachary followed her inside, still feeling displeased with the apartment. Although Matthew didn't live there, his personal preferences were evident everywhere.

He stared at the trinkets on the shoe cabinet, the scent of Matthew's favorite perfume lingering in the air, which annoyed Zachary greatly!
