Chapter 601 Guess Wrong, Must Be Punished

Zachary said, "No, I just think this doctor is really milking it, scheduling every possible test."

Not just every possible test, but even going overboard, including tests for HIV and syphilis.

The doctor remained silent.

Zachary asked, "Could you at least say that behind my back?" He was about to defend himself when the door closed.

At a private hospital, there's no need to wait in line for tests. They were done by eleven, but except for the ultrasound, the other results wouldn't be ready until the afternoon, and some would take two or three days.

Zachary held her hand, his thumb gently caressing her fingers. "Shall we head back? We can have Dylan pick up the results later."

Winona replied, "It's the weekend, let's not make him run errands. He might be on a date with his girlfriend. Besides, we need to show the results to the doctor this afternoon."

Zachary fell silent.

As soon as the door opened, a biting cold wind rushed in, making Winona shrink her neck, wishing she could bury her entire head in her thick scarf.

Zachary took off his coat, wrapped it around her, and pulled her into his arms, positioning himself to block most of the wind.

Winona reached out to refuse. "No need."

Zachary was only wearing a thin turtleneck sweater underneath. He pressed her hand down. "We're almost at the car. Just wear it."

Once in the car, Zachary started the engine. "Let's grab some lunch and then catch a movie?"

Winona slumped against the seat, yawning. "How about we get a room for a nap after lunch? I'm so tired."

She had gotten up purely on willpower this morning, and now she was so sleepy she could barely keep her eyes open. If the car wasn't so cold, she might have fallen asleep right there.

Zachary's eyes lit up visibly. "Sure."

Winona couldn't help but poke his shoulder, gritting her teeth. "Just for sleeping, don't get any ideas."

You didn't need to see his face to know what kind of thoughts were running through his head just from his tone.

Zachary weakly defended himself. "I wasn't thinking anything."

Winona rolled her eyes at him. "Yeah, right."

Zachary had originally planned to take her to a fancy restaurant in the south of the city, known for its good food and stylish decor. But when Winona saw the estimated time on the GPS, she immediately refused.

It was too far. Even without traffic, it would take fifty minutes one way. By the time they got there, ate, and came back, there wouldn't be any time left for a nap.

Winona opened a food delivery app, found a hotel, then picked a nearby restaurant, set the GPS, and clipped her phone to the holder. "Let's go."

The whole process took less than five minutes.

The restaurant Winona chose was just an ordinary diner. Forget about style, it didn't even have private rooms. But given her current state, where she could barely keep her eyes open while walking, Zachary thought it was already considerate of her not to choose a fast-food place with pre-made meals.

After lunch, they headed straight to the hotel.

Zachary handed her his ID. "You go check in. I'll grab some things from the store next door."

Winona eyed him warily. "What are you planning to buy?"

Seeing her expression, Zachary knew exactly what she was thinking. He leaned over, pressing her hand that was unbuckling her seatbelt, and whispered in her ear. "Since Mrs. Bailey is so curious, why don't you guess what I'm going to buy? If you guess right, there's a reward. How about it?"

Winona raised an eyebrow. "And if I guess wrong?"

"Then there's a penalty."

Winona snorted, turning her head away. "Boring."

Zachary's lips were close to her ear, and when she turned her head, her lips brushed against his face.

Zachary seized the opportunity, capturing her lips in a quick kiss. "Alright, it's a deal. So, what do you think I'm going to buy?"

Winona didn't want to engage, fearing her words would give him ideas. But even if she didn't, Zachary wouldn't let her go easily.

When she stayed silent, he kissed her, nibbling at her lips as if to torment her. "Say something."

The cramped car limited Winona's movements. She couldn't break free, and the warm air soon made her break out in a sweat.

Finally, exhausted from struggling, she slumped, letting him do as he pleased, her breath coming in quick gasps. "Condoms."

Zachary chuckled. "Wrong guess. There's a penalty."

Winona didn't believe him, but to get to the room and sleep as soon as possible, she played along. "What's the penalty?"

Zachary said, "You get what you want."

Winona fell silent.

She pulled the pillow from behind her back and threw it at his head in frustration. "Get lost."

Zachary laughed and let her go. Winona, like a cat whose tail had been stepped on, angrily opened the door and stormed out.

Watching her retreating figure, Zachary waited a moment before turning off the car and getting out.

He went to the store, bought a pack of cigarettes, and picked up some of Winona's favorite snacks and fruits. When he entered the hotel, Winona was already sitting on the sofa with the room key, waiting for him.

As soon as they entered the room, Zachary pinned her against the wall. Before she could make a sound, he kissed her deeply.

A mint candy slipped from his tongue into her mouth, the cool sensation waking her up instantly.

Zachary's shopping bag fell to the floor, its contents scattering.

His kiss was fierce and urgent, giving her no chance to breathe. Winona instinctively tried to push him away, but he pinned her hands to the wall.

The kiss lasted so long that Winona felt dizzy. When Zachary finally stopped, he leaned against her, almost whimpering. "Winona."

Winona turned her head and bit his wrist.

It wasn't hard enough to hurt, but she growled. "Let go, I need to sleep."

It wasn't that she didn't want to be close to him, but she was exhausted. She had felt like her back wasn't her own since she got up this morning. Any more and she'd be done for.

"No," Zachary propped himself up, staring at her intently, his eyes burning like two small flames. "Winona, you'll be gone for over a month. Will you forget about me?"

Winona was about to scold him for not trusting her or himself, but she held back and answered seriously, "No."

She pulled her hand from his grip, showing him the ring on her finger. "Zachary, we're getting married. I'm just going for a competition. Or do you think our relationship is so fragile that we can't handle a month apart?"
