Chapter 672 Not Taking Drugs
Noticing Zachary's gaze, Richard quickly clarified, "Mr. Bailey, just pretend I'm not even here."
As long as the money's right, disappearing wouldn't be a problem.
Winona pushed Zachary's hand away, "We'll deal with this later."
Austin stood up, his eyes sweeping over Zachary, "Winona, he's awake now. How about you go downstairs and grab him some breakfast? It'd be a shame if he starved after all we did to save him."
Winona could tell Austin had something to discuss with Zachary, so she nodded, "Sure."
Once she was out of earshot, Austin turned to Zachary with a serious expression, "Your headache was that bad. Did you mess with something you shouldn't have?"
Zachary knew what he was getting at and replied, "No."
"Are you sure? Could you have accidentally taken something without knowing? You mentioned hypnosis earlier. Is it possible you encountered something but forgot for some reason?"
The doctor said the test results were fine. If his body was okay, what could cause such severe pain? It couldn't be without reason.
Zachary firmly denied, "No, I had all the medication tested by the doctor afterward. There were no illegal substances."
Seeing his certainty, Austin relaxed a bit. Once drugs get involved, a person's life is ruined. Just then, Matthew arrived, so Austin didn't press further.
Matthew had been busy all night without sleep. As soon as he entered the hospital room, he collapsed onto an empty bed, looking more like a patient than Zachary.
Zachary said, "Thanks for your hard work. Ask for any reward you want."
"Anything?"
He asked casually, but Zachary, that dog, actually paused to think seriously for a few seconds before saying, "No, I think the only thing you're missing is a girlfriend. How about I ask Winona to set you up with someone? You look pretty lonely by yourself."
When it comes to hitting where it hurts, Zachary is the master. Suggesting Winona set him up was a clear jab, implying he might still have feelings for her and might use this favor to ask for something related to her.
Matthew didn't want to engage, so he briefly explained the situation and closed his eyes to sleep.
Zachary asked, "Where's Samuel?"
"At this hour, he's definitely at home making breakfast for Julia," Matthew checked his watch, "He told me to tell you to ask him yourself. He's in the holding cell, not your servant. Handle your own mess and don't waste his time making breakfast for Julia."
Zachary pursed his lips and snorted, "Love bug."
The room fell silent. He looked around and saw everyone staring at him, "Why are you all looking at me?"
Matthew and Austin snorted in unison, "Love bug."
Winona wandered downstairs, figuring they must be done talking by now, and went to buy breakfast before heading back up.
"Winona!"
Rebecca rushed over from across the street and hugged Winona tightly, her voice trembling with tears, "You scared me to death."
Rebecca had seen Winona being dragged into the car yesterday but wasn't as quick or strong as Zachary, so she couldn't catch up. She could only watch helplessly as Winona and Zachary were taken away.
The Fields family had hired bodyguards, but they were useless.
Zachary's men tried to intervene, but with two hostages in the car and the kidnappers willing to risk everything, they couldn't make any bold moves and had to retreat.
Rebecca hugged her so tightly that Winona could barely breathe. She patted Rebecca's back, signaling, "Let go, you're choking me."
Rebecca quickly released her grip and anxiously looked her over, "Are you hurt? Did they do anything to you?"
"I'm fine. How did you know I was here?"
Her phone was with Rebecca, and she hadn't had a chance to check it since escaping, being preoccupied with Zachary's condition.
Winona noticed Rebecca's swollen eyes, "Did you cry? Your eyes are so puffy."
How long did she cry to get this bee-stung look?
Rebecca covered her eyes, "I didn't cry, just didn't sleep well. I had Anthony call to find out. How's Zachary? He saw you being dragged into the car and immediately rushed in, even using his arm to block the closing door. Just watching it hurt."
She admitted reluctantly, "Most men wouldn't do that. I bet his arm is pretty badly injured. Don't let him move it for a few days to avoid any lasting damage."
Winona nodded, "I know."
External injuries are easy to heal; she's more worried about his headaches.
Anthony parked the car and walked over, seeing Rebecca's red eyes, he frowned, "She's standing here perfectly fine. Why are you still crying?"
He stared at her eyes, curious, "Did you cry all night? Don't your eyes hurt?"
Rebecca glared at him, "You talk too much."
She had just snapped at him, and he immediately exposed her. Doesn't she have any pride?
Rebecca's eyes naturally carried a hint of allure, every expression adding a touch of charm. Normally, her gaze would feel like a feather brushing his heart, leaving a tingling sensation.
But now, with her eyes swollen shut, he couldn't muster any romantic thoughts, only the urge to laugh.
Knowing that laughing would anger Rebecca and she'd avoid him for a long time, Anthony suppressed his laughter, coughed into his fist, "Let's go upstairs. The breakfast will get cold."
They went upstairs together. Austin and Richard had left, Matthew was sleeping on the empty bed, and Zachary was urging him, "Go home and sleep. These hospital beds are small and uncomfortable."
Matthew, annoyed, pulled the blanket over his ears, "Shut up."
He felt weak and just wanted to sleep, not move.
With others around, Winona politely knocked before entering with breakfast. Zachary's cold demeanor immediately softened, reaching for the food, "Why did you take so long?"
