Chapter 425 What Exactly Do You Want to Do
Winona had no clue the invite had been tossed. On the day of the party, Rebecca swung by to pick her up. "There's gonna be a two-minute blackout during the party. Use that time to shove Nicholas into the pool and check for a scar. If it's not Zachary, no biggie. He won't know who did it."
Winona chimed in, "His scar is flat. I can't feel it; I can only see it."
"Oh, then scratch that. Don't get in the water. Find a way to lure him into a room and yank his pants down."
"Is this party that wild?" Winona had never been to one and was starting to second-guess. She wanted to pull Nicholas's hair but hadn't thought about doing it in such a crazy way.
"It's split into two groups. There are wild ones and not-so-wild ones. If you don't wear a swimsuit and stay out of the water, no one will mess with you. Everyone here comes from wealthy families. Even if someone wants to act out, they won't go too far."
When they arrived, Winona finally got why everyone at the party was loaded. The entrance fee was a whopping $500,000.
As Rebecca swiped her card, she explained, "It covers everything tonight. If you find a partner, there's even a gift."
Winona grinned, "You seem pretty familiar with this."
"I came once before with a friend."
As soon as they walked in, the place was buzzing, and the air was thick with humidity. People in bikinis brushed past her now and then.
In the outdoor garden, there were drinks, desserts, and a buffet. Well-dressed men and women gathered in small groups, chatting. The lighting was dim and suggestive, with mist rising from the ornamental pool nearby. Further away, the light was even dimmer, with tables and chairs for people to chill.
It was definitely a matchmaking party, and the vibe was stirring up some primal desires.
Winona scanned the room but didn't spot Nicholas. She frowned slightly, thinking, 'Is he not coming tonight?'
Rebecca put her arm around Winona's shoulder and led her inside. "Stop looking. It's a rare chance to relax. Come on, let's go see something cool."
At that moment, there was a performance in the hall. Male models in swimwear were diving off a springboard, entering the water like fish and swimming away gracefully, drawing cheers and shouts from the crowd.
The atmosphere was electric.
Rebecca grabbed a male model walking by. He had a well-trained body with broad shoulders and a narrow waist, a perfect V-shape. His muscles were lean and powerful, not overly bulky, and he had a very handsome face. His chiseled features and sharp contours were highlighted by water droplets trickling down his muscles.
Rebecca, still with her arm around Winona, said, "Come on, let's get a picture."
She fumbled with her phone and turned to the male model. "Can you take the picture for us?"
As soon as she asked, she felt her phone being taken away, followed by the sound of the shutter.
Then she heard Winona's voice, "Mr. Lewis, are you here for the matchmaking too?"
Anthony replied, "Yeah."
The lively atmosphere suddenly quieted down as the male model's performance ended. Winona thought she heard a familiar voice. She turned and immediately spotted Nicholas in the crowd, talking to someone.
He was wearing a mask, showing only his eyes, which were locked on the person in front of him. Although she couldn't clearly see his expression, she could still sense his intense displeasure. Winona could even see the tension in his jaw as he clenched his teeth.
After a while, Nicholas finished his conversation but didn't seem to have any intention of coming over. Winona wasn't sure if he was here for the matchmaking or if he came here because of her.
With his face covered by a mask, no one recognized Nicholas. Plus, with so many handsome male models around, no one approached him.
He didn't seem interested in talking to anyone either. After standing there for a few minutes, he turned and headed towards the restroom.
Winona turned to tell Rebecca, only to find that she was alone with the male model.
The male model was already looking at her. When Winona turned her head, their eyes met, and he said with a charming smile, "Can I add you on WhatsApp?"
Winona felt a gaze on her, straight and focused, very invasive from behind. But when she turned to look, she didn't see anyone watching her. Nicholas had already walked away.
"Sorry," Winona said quickly and then chased after Nicholas.
The guy had long legs, taking one step for every two of hers. Winona was wearing high heels, and the ground was slippery, so she couldn't walk fast. By the time she reached the corridor leading to the restroom, she had lost him.
She looked at the empty corridor, frowning. Just as she was about to turn back, the door to a temporary restroom suddenly opened a crack.
A hand reached out, grabbed Winona's wrist, and pulled her inside.
The door closed with a click. Nicholas let go of her, his cold gaze looking down at her.
Nicholas said in the coldest tone, "Miss Sullivan, what exactly are you trying to do by following me so closely?"
He had taken off his mask, revealing a handsome face.
