Chapter 55 Zachary Usually Spoils Me

Mrs. Miller took it eagerly and said, "Thank you, how could I mind."

She took out a gift box from her bag that contained a diamond bracelet. It wasn't particularly valuable, nor was it a unique design. "I bought this while shopping. It's not anything precious, but it represents my sincere thoughts. Thank you for the perfume you gave me."

Winona definitely couldn't accept it, trading a brand-new diamond bracelet for a bottle of used perfume worth a few hundred dollars.

"Mrs. Miller, I can't accept this. I only spent three hundred dollars on that bottle of perfume. I can't let you suffer a loss..."

"Winona, I'm making it up for my husband. His behavior this morning was inappropriate... He loses control when he drinks, which caused him to unintentionally offend you."

Winona arched an eyebrow, but Mrs. Miller had already stuffed the gift box into her hands.

Since it was a compensation, Winona didn't need to be overly polite. The only regret was that the other party didn't simply write her a check!

After receiving the gift, she casually remarked, "You and Mr. Miller have a great relationship."

Mrs. Miller bitterly tugged at the corner of her lips, perhaps because they had just exchanged gifts. She opened up, "We have a family alliance. Before we got married, we barely saw each other. There were several options from my family, and I thought he looked honest and reliable, definitely someone who cared for his family..."

As soon as Winona heard the first half, she guessed the second half. The melodrama was all too familiar.

Sure enough, Mrs. Miller's words confirmed her speculation, "Little did I know that he only appeared honest on the surface. Things were fine for the first two years of our marriage, but later on, after we had children, his true nature was revealed. Not only did he openly kept and maintained mistresses outside, but he also rarely came home."

Winona wasn't familiar with Mrs. Miller, so she felt no sympathy upon hearing such intimate matters. She only felt awkward.

"Fortunately, he is generous towards me. Whatever he gives to the other women, he gives to me as well. Over the years, I've gradually come to terms with it, and we both do our own thing." Mrs. Miller added, glancing at Zachary with a meaningful tone, "I envy you and Mr. Bailey, having such a good relationship."

Winona remained silent for a moment, feeling like it wasn't genuine envy, but just empty words.

She smiled lightly and played her role dutifully, "Zachary tends to spoil me."

She felt disgusted by her own words!

After finishing her sentence, Winona turned and picked up a piece of broccoli, a vegetable that Zachary never touched.

Zachary was in the middle of discussing cooperation details with Mr. Miller when he noticed her action. He first looked at the broccoli in his bowl, then at the woman who was smiling at him affectionately.

He remained calm and picked up the vegetable to eat.

Winona scoffed inwardly, "Keep pretending, you jerk!"

Mrs. Miller witnessed this scene and her eyes flickered. She turned her head and glanced at her husband.

While Mr. Miller went to the restroom, Mrs. Miller followed suit.

As soon as they left, Mrs. Miller said bluntly, "Don't think I don't know what you're trying to do. I suggest you don't have any ulterior motives. The Baileys have a great relationship, and don't ruin the contract."

Mr. Miller grew impatient. "Even if I ruin it, it's my own business. What's it to you?"

He was wealthy and had no shortage of women. Many beautiful women willingly threw themselves at him. Although Winona was attractive, he was not stupid enough to offend Zachary for a woman.

But there was still an irksome feeling that scratched at his heart and liver. He closed his eyes and imagined the smooth and tender skin he had touched at noon, delicate enough to melt in his palm. The mere thought of it made his blood rush.

Looking at his wife by his side, with her dull and rough skin, average looks, and lackluster demeanor, he felt even more displeased.

Mr. Miller's tone became increasingly unpleasant. "I told you to test their relationship, not to teach me how to do things."

He glanced at Mrs. Miller with disgust. "Just looking at your face brings bad luck!"

In this way, Winona spent the entire afternoon wholeheartedly portraying the perfect couple act with Zachary.

Later, she accompanied Mrs. Miller to enjoy the flowers, walking through the lush flower field for over two hours. Dinner was finished before they returned to their rooms separately.

She deliberately made an excuse to delay and didn't take the same elevator as Mr. Miller and the others, taking a moment to catch her breath.

Leaning against the elevator's mirror-like wall, Winona sent a message to Zachary: "Please have someone bring my luggage down for me."

Back in the room, Zachary didn't respond to her message. If she had known he would be so unreliable, she would have left her luggage at the front desk.

She had booked a regular room without a separate bathtub. After changing into disposable hotel slippers, Winona was ready to go downstairs for a relaxing bath. Today, she had been wearing high heels all day.

After walking more than 20,000 steps, Winona felt like her legs weren't her own anymore.

There was a clothing supermarket downstairs, which she noticed when she arrived. Although they didn't have a complete range of options, they could still meet her basic needs.

Leaving her room, she had thought she could enjoy a relaxing bath without any distractions. However, she unexpectedly ran into Mr. Miller in the elevator. Winona cursed silently in her heart before putting on a professional smile and greeting him, "Mr. Miller, what a coincidence."

Mr. Miller glanced behind her to see an empty corridor before shifting his gaze back to her. Then, in one swift glance, his eyes landed on her slippers. "Mrs. Bailey doesn't share a room with Mr. Bailey?"

Winona remained unfazed and lied, "I have a friend living on this floor, and I came down to talk to her about something."

Mr. Miller cast a meaningful look at her...

Zachary's room was next to his, but he hadn't seen Winona return with Zachary earlier. Now, she was wearing slippers...

Perhaps her relationship with Zachary was similar to his own, where they both did their own thing. Winona had rented a separate room on this floor.

It seemed this woman wasn't as favored by Zachary as she appeared to be.

"Mrs. Bailey," Mr. Miller took a step forward, his belly almost touching Winona's back, "are you planning to go downstairs and soak in the hot springs?"
