Chapter 464 Can't Let Go of This Face

The next morning, as soon as Nicholas walked into the office, he spotted Timothy already there. He frowned a bit but quickly covered it up by rubbing his temples. "What are you doing here so early?" he asked.

Nicholas had a lunch meeting with Jackson to talk about Timothy's beating. Since it was Timothy's issue, he figured Timothy should be there too.

Timothy shrugged, "I was bored at the hospital, so I thought I'd come hang out with you. The doctor said I could be discharged and just need to come back later to get the cast off."

Nicholas headed to his desk, sat down, and started up his computer while flipping through some files. "Have you had breakfast?" he asked.

Timothy shook his head, "Not yet. I came straight here from the hospital."

Nicholas frowned and scolded, "If you can't remember the doctor's orders, I'll have someone follow you around to remind you."

Timothy grinned, "Don't be mad. I already asked Richard to grab me something for breakfast. I know you're worried, but my stomach's been fine lately. It's okay to eat a little later sometimes."

But deep down, Timothy was feeling super anxious. Ever since he found out yesterday that Nicholas had run into Winona again, he felt like things were slipping out of his control.

He then asked, "Why didn't you come to the hospital to see me last night?"

Nicholas replied, "I had some business to take care of."

Timothy's innocent look quickly changed, a dark and hard-to-read emotion flashing in his eyes. "Was it something to do with the Bailey family? Haven't the two families already completely fallen out? What's there to talk about?" he pressed.

Nicholas paused and looked up at Timothy.

Timothy continued, "A friend of mine saw you with Winona at a baby store yesterday. We were chatting, and he casually asked if you were married."

Nicholas responded, "There's a business partner's kid's hundred-day banquet coming up. I happened to pass by the baby store, so I went in to see if there was anything suitable to buy. I didn't expect to run into Miss Sullivan."

But Timothy wasn't buying it.

"Was it also a coincidence that you sent her home and stayed at her place for so long?" His face darkened, and he bluntly said, "I can accept that you like her and want to pursue her. Marriage and having kids are normal parts of life, but why did you lie to me?"

He leaned forward, his fingers covering Nicholas's files. "Did you listen to some ill-intentioned people and confuse yourself with Zachary? Those people are all liars. Don't trust anyone but me. Think about it, if you were really the Bailey family's son, would you have ended up being picked out of a trash can by Dad?"

He stared into Nicholas's eyes, not with anger but with an inexplicable allure. "Just because you were born weak, they abandoned you and threw you into a trash can to fend for yourself. Are you really okay with this?"

Hypnosis could change a person's memory, but it couldn't change their DNA. As soon as Zachary disappeared, Nicholas, who looked exactly like him, appeared. People would definitely be suspicious. Timothy didn't want to change his face again and was afraid something might go wrong without his knowledge, so he had to use this excuse to cover the loophole.Nicholas shot up from his chair, his face flushed with anger. "If I'm your brother, why are you spying on me? You've got someone reporting my every move. Do you even know how many times I eat and go to the bathroom each day? Is there anyone in the entire Ramsey Group who isn't your spy?"

He continued, "Since I woke up, I haven't seen Dad. Sometimes I even doubt if he exists. Timothy, have you been lying to me from the start?"

Seeing Nicholas's anger, Timothy quickly softened his tone. "No, I haven't lied to you. Dad's been busy with a major issue at the company and really can't leave. Once we bring down the Bailey Group, I'll take you to see him."

Nicholas said, "At least tell me his name. My memory seems to be damaged, and I can't remember."

Timothy looked deeply hurt, his eyes turning red. "I don't know. Like you, I was adopted by Dad. Although he treats us well, he's also very strict. I didn't dare to ask."

Nicholas knew Timothy was tight-lipped, so he wasn't surprised he didn't get an answer.

Nicholas decided not to push the topic, worried that more confrontation would make Timothy suspicious. Just then, the secretary brought in breakfast, and Nicholas said, "Go have breakfast."

The tension lingered until noon. When they got into the car to meet Jackson for lunch, Timothy softened his tone. "I'm sorry. Don't be mad. I was just afraid you'd be deceived by them."

Nicholas replied, "I won't be deceived by them, and I'm not angry because of them. I'm just disappointed that you don't trust me at all."

Timothy kept apologizing and promised never to have anyone track Nicholas's whereabouts again. Only then did Nicholas's expression soften.

When they arrived at the restaurant, they waited over half an hour before Jackson finally showed up.

Short and stout, Jackson wore a thick gold chain around his neck and a gold watch on his wrist. The lighting had been dim that day, and Timothy had been too dazed to look closely. Today, he realized Jackson was muscular, not fat, with solid muscles.

Seeing Jackson, Nicholas stood up and extended his hand. "Jackson."

But Jackson glanced at his hand with disdain. "What kind of status do you have to shake hands with me? If you went to the trouble of arranging this meeting, didn't you look into the kind of people I typically shake hands with?"

Hearing this, Timothy gritted his teeth, his hand clenching into a fist under the tablecloth, hiding the flash of murderous intent in his eyes.

But before coming, Nicholas had told him not to say a word.

Nicholas calmly withdrew his hand, showing no embarrassment. "Sorry, Jackson, please have a seat."

The people around them were busy wiping chairs and utensils, making such a big scene that one might think a high-ranking official was visiting.

"Jackson, what did my brother do to make you have him beaten like this?" Nicholas asked.

Timothy's arm and leg casts hadn't been removed, and the bruises on his face hadn't faded, clearly showing he had been severely beaten.

Jackson squinted at Timothy for a few moments before suddenly realizing. He said, "Oh, it's this guy. Damn, he used his good looks to seduce my woman. I'll beat him every time I see him."
