Chapter 13 The Ice Age Arrives

Steven cleared out the entire warehouse in the southern Walmart!

Goods worth billions of dollars all entered his extradimensional space.

He pretended to know nothing and immediately reported to Walmart's top management.

Soon, this news spread throughout the entire southern region of Walmart.

A large group of executives, shocked, rushed to the scene and reported the incident to the police.

Tom Watson, the general manager of the southern warehouse, saw the empty warehouse and turned pale.

"Oh my God! How am I going to explain this to headquarters?"

In fact, orders had already been issued from Walmart's Star Country headquarters to transport all goods back to the country as soon as possible.

It was said to be a directive from the top brass of Star Country, and the ship they sent was about to arrive at Seabreeze Port.

This was the end of everything!

On the other hand, Steven was not worried at all about his actions being exposed.

After all, goods worth billions of dollars disappeared from the entire warehouse in just two hours, which was too incredible. Even with the police investigating vigorously, they couldn't find anything in such a short time.

However, he still pretended to be nervous and scared, cooperating with the police investigation.

After a night of interrogation, Steven was released.

The police were also very suspicious about the incident.

They investigated the footage inside and outside the warehouse.

Although the internal footage had been turned off, it was impossible for someone to steal millions of cubic feet of goods without leaving any other traces.

However, through the footage around the warehouse, they found no traces of any vehicles passing by.

In other words, the disappearance of goods worth billions of dollars either vanished into thin air or was a carefully planned trick by Walmart itself.

And logically speaking, the latter was more reasonable.

After all, unless a supernatural phenomenon occurred, it was impossible to explain how millions of cubic feet of goods disappeared without a trace in just two hours.

As for Steven and the other ordinary employees, although they raised some suspicion from the police.

Explaining the logical problem of the missing goods, even if there were issues with internal employees, was not the main contradiction.

Since there was no official involvement from The Astralium Kingdom, the case was too big, so the efficiency of the police investigation was naturally slow, and the government needed to control public opinion, while the company leaders needed to minimize the impact on the corporate image.

They wanted to get to the bottom of this, but it would be tough even for three months!

For Steven, he was ordered not to leave Starlight City for a short period.

And he had to cooperate with the police and Walmart's internal investigation at all times.

Steven was very cooperative, so he was released.

After returning home, Steven looked out through the blinds of the French windows.

Today was December 10th, and there were only two days left until the Frosty Apocalypse arrived.

In the time that followed, he just needed to stay at home and not go anywhere to effortlessly get through the rest of his life.

Thinking about the billions of dollars worth of goods in his extradimensional space, which included almost everything he needed in life, Steven felt very reassured.

He returned to the bedroom and lay down. After a busy night and cooperating with the interrogation, he was a bit tired.

Steven fell asleep until evening, and when he turned on the TV, the news was reporting the theft at the southern Walmart warehouse.

Due to the significant loss in this theft and its bizarre nature, major news channels across the country were reporting on it.

"Someone must have embezzled it! Such a large warehouse was emptied in just a few hours!"

"It must have been an inside job, most likely by Walmart's top management, to claim insurance."

"That's millions of cubic feet of goods; even with large trucks, it's impossible to haul it all in one night."

Steven smiled slightly. No one would know the answer to this before the apocalypse arrived.

Over the next two days, Steven stayed at home and didn't go anywhere.

He knew that time was running out for this world.

For safety reasons, he wouldn't leave his room without permission.

During this time, the police and Walmart headquarters investigators called him in for questioning.

Although they were suspicious of Steven's behavior that night, the investigation was short, and there was no concrete evidence, so while they had doubts, they couldn't arrest Steven.

During this period, some acquaintances messaged Steven, inquiring about the inside story, but Steven managed to evade their questions.

Finally, December 12th arrived.

The gamma rays passed through the earth at two in the morning, just for an instant, but the impact on this planet was devastating.

A few hours earlier, Steven had completely sealed the room and started a fire in the fireplace.

Soon, with the depletion of energy, things like air conditioning and heating would completely fail.

All heating would have to be done by the most primitive means.

At two o'clock, he sat on the sofa in front of the huge French windows, holding a bottle of beer, staring intently outside.

Suddenly, a white light appeared at the end of the sky. Even though it was midnight, the earth seemed to brighten like dusk.

But this brightness only lasted for two seconds before falling silent.

Most people were already asleep at this time and didn't notice the momentary change.

But Steven, who knew what it meant, felt a chill down his spine.

He took a big gulp of beer, the refreshing Budweiser beer bringing him some calm.

Steven thought as he casually threw a few more pieces of good wood into the fireplace.

He reached for the TV remote, watching the programs while waiting for the world to change.

Just a few minutes later, snowflakes began to drift outside.

At first, the snowflakes were just the size of a fingernail, but in less than two minutes, they turned into goose feather-sized snowflakes!

The wind outside started to howl, and the snow seemed to become terrifying in an instant!

The entire city's sky was suddenly filled with a sudden snowstorm!

This was the power of nature. When it changed, it didn't give you any warning.

Steven's heart began to feel a bit nervous.

Although the safe house he built was perfect, he had experienced a Frosty Apocalypse before, so he couldn't help but worry.

He didn't know if this $1.1 million safe house could withstand the upcoming deep freeze!

But as the flames blazed in the fireplace, the indoor temperature became extremely warm.

Even a bit too hot.

Steven glanced at the indoor temperature, which had reached 32.6°C.

He looked outside and found the snowflakes had already engulfed the entire city.

Steven felt a lot more at ease.

He reduced some charcoal, as the indoor temperature was uncomfortably high.

Steven wasn't in a rush to sleep; he wanted to continue observing the changes to come.

As for resting, he had plenty of time for that; after all, he didn't have to go to work.

In less than half an hour, the snow on the balcony had already accumulated a thick layer.

Steven checked the news on his phone and found that news of the sudden drop in temperature had spread across the entire internet.

The internet was full of complaints, with netizens lamenting that winter had come too early this year and they hadn't had time to prepare for the cold.

"This damn weather, why is it already below freezing?"

"The roads will probably be frozen tomorrow, how could I get to work?"

Some people, however, expressed joy.

"With so much snow, I won't have to go to work tomorrow, haha!"

Especially some friends from the South, who were excited to share photos of themselves with the heavy snow.

They said they had never seen such heavy snow in the South.

Steven shook his head; this was just the beginning.

Over the next few months, the heavy snow would continue, and the temperature would drop even further.

By then, they wouldn't be in such a good mood to enjoy the snow.
