Chapter 518 The Whole City Supports

Otha hung up the phone, his face a blank slate, leaving Megan and the others clueless about what he'd heard.

Megan, on edge, blurted out, "What did Silvercrest District say? When's the missile support coming?"

She was banking everything on Silvercrest District's help now.

Otha shot her a glance and said coolly, "HQ says there are too many zombies. They're gonna use The Grim Reaper's Sigh to wipe them out!"

Everyone's eyes went wide, and they couldn't help but shout, "What?!"

The Grim Reaper's Sigh, a doomsday weapon, was off-limits before the apocalypse. Its power was insane, but it would leave the land soaked in radiation for decades.

If Starlight City got hit by The Grim Reaper's Sigh, it would be toast! Even if it didn't hit directly, the radiation would kill everyone.

They might be safe in this underground shelter, but they wouldn't be able to go outside.

"This is nuts! They're just sentencing us to die down here!" Megan's face twisted in anger as she yelled.

Otha, unfazed by Megan's rage, said calmly, "Getting mad won't help. We need to figure out how to deal with the zombies outside, or we'll be stuck down here until we run out of supplies."

He checked his gold watch. "We've got 23 hours and 58 minutes until The Grim Reaper's Sigh hits."

Otha didn't give a damn about Megan's feelings. If anger could fix things, he'd be the angriest guy around.

Megan quickly got the picture.

Now wasn't the time to argue; they had to team up and tackle the zombie crisis outside!

Otha turned to Megan, "I need all the info in the shelter, especially the weapon systems, right now."

Then he looked at Eris. "Eris, let all the other factions know what's going down, Make sure they get that if they don't give it their all, we're all doomed."

Otha adjusted his sunglasses. "And tell them, anyone who tries to bail will be hunted down by Silvercrest District!"

Eris nodded. "Got it!"

She knew every bit of firepower was crucial now.

They had to rope in Steven, Sebastian, Leonard, and the Snowfall Cult!

Megan took a few deep breaths, trying to stay calm.

Right now, trusting Otha was her only option.

She called Byron, "Hand over all our info to him!"

Byron's face was grim too. He glanced at Otha, nodded, and went to give Otha all the shelter's info.

Meanwhile, outside.

Steven and the other big factions were heading to Emberwick Base.

But they were super careful, worried about running into the zombie horde.

Everyone had mixed feelings. Bottom line—no one wanted to die!

Neil's emotions were even more tangled.

The zombie horde was their creation, but things had spiraled out of control, and they couldn't fix this mess perfectly.

Talking to the Zombie King through the Bloodfeeder Vine to control the whole horde was tricky. They couldn't send too complicated messages, or the Zombie King wouldn't get it because it wasn't too bright.

And making the zombie horde retreat would definitely make the other factions suspicious.

Just as Neil was stuck in his thoughts, he got a message from Eris.

After reading it, his face twitched.

"The Grim Reaper's Sigh!" he sighed. The thing he dreaded the most was happening.

Silvercrest District, with its massive military power, could easily wipe them all out!

Usually calm, Neil couldn't help but slam his fist on the car. "Damn it!"

"This can't happen! 24 hours, how do I keep the investigation team alive without raising suspicion?"

Neil's eyes flashed with a dangerous light, like he was ready to kill someone. He was in a real bind.

Meanwhile, over in the direction of Eternal River District, Steven and his crew were riding in a snowmobile.

He got the message from Eris too.

Steven's first reaction was surprise, but then, instead of freaking out about The Grim Reaper's Sigh, he actually smiled. All of this, while a bit different from what he had expected, wasn't too far off. More satisfyingly, The Grim Reaper's Sigh sped things up.

"Compared to us, the Snowfall Cult's got bigger problems!"

"They must have a way to control the zombie horde, so they can't let the investigation team die here!"

"So they have to give up these hundreds of thousands of zombies. This is probably their biggest asset right now!"

"Once this zombie wave is wiped out, they won't be able to create a large number of powerful zombies anytime soon."

"Then, we'll have a shot at taking them down!"

"But..." Steven looked up at the sky.

He could almost see a grim reaper with a scythe coming down, destroying everything. "It's still pretty scary!"

The combat suits had some radiation protection, and they could handle low radiation for a short time.

He had to prepare for the worst.

The extradimensional space wasn't great for living beings, but they could hide there for a about a minute—Steven had tested it himself.

If he sensed that thing coming down, Steven could hide there with his people to dodge the initial blast.

He didn't know if it would work, but it was worth a shot. The key was not being at ground zero.

Steven pulled out a satellite phone and warned Elinor and the others still in the shelter.

"Get to the basement, the third underground level! Starlight City might get hit."

He also told everyone in the car.

After hearing this, everyone looked really tense.

Even though they were Psychics, against that kind of attack, they were just like regular people and would die.

Henry sighed heavily, looking serious. "How can we handle that many zombies in just 24 hours! We couldn't make it even if they were chickens!"
