Chapter 95 The Attitude of Discussing Cooperation
Steven showed Caitlin his attitude at the beginning, letting her know that he wasn't someone easily bullied.
In Building 9, Caitlin paced back and forth in the room.
It wasn't because she was nervous, but because it was too cold. Walking a few more steps could warm her up a bit.
She was wearing many layers of clothing, but she still tried to look sophisticated. She even wore a coat with a fox fur collar on the outside.
After receiving Steven's cold message, she took a deep breath and muttered to herself, "As expected, he's a formidable person! I ought to be careful."
Facing Steven, Caitlin was actually very nervous, even fearful.
After all, Steven's deeds had already spread.
He alone had killed half of the neighbors in an entire building!
And he had quite a few weapons, including a terrifying sniper rifle!
Various rumors made people in other buildings who had heard Steven's story deeply afraid of him.
Caitlin calmed her emotions and typed out the words she had rehearsed countless times in her mind.
Caitlin: [Mr. Rogers, I've heard a lot about you. I've always hoped to meet you.]
[Now that I know you have a snowmobile and can go out to find supplies, we at Building 9 hope to cooperate with you.]
Steven glanced at it and sneered.
Steven: [Cooperate? What can you offer me? Cooperation requires an equal exchange of conditions; you should understand that.]
Caitlin immediately replied: [Our Building 9 is relatively harmonious, and we haven't had many deaths. So we have plenty of manpower!]
[Now that you have a snowmobile, it means you can leave the community and even explore outside!"
As Caitlin typed this, she became excited.
[We can provide you with 76 people, all of whom are the best labor force.]
[The outside world is covered in snow and has lost its order. In other words, everything buried by the snow belongs to whoever gets it.]
[You have transportation and weapons, and I have people who follow orders and work. As long as we join forces, we will surely achieve great things in the future!]
Steven dug his ear.
He replied: [It sounds convincing, but it's all empty talk.]
[Let me ask you, now that so many people don't even know how to survive tomorrow, what can you develop?]
Caitlin swallowed.
She continued: [Of course, we need you to help us gather food to ensure our survival first.]
[Then, no matter what project you want to undertake, our people are the best labor force!]
Steven shook his head, already losing interest.
A small leader in a pyramid scheme could fool those desperate homeowners, but trying to fool him was a joke.
He didn't even bother typing and sent a voice message instead.
"I'm not interested in what you're saying at all. Goodbye!" he said impatiently.
Caitlin got anxious after hearing Steven's words.
She gritted her teeth and quickly sent a message.
Caitlin: [You're already the envy of the entire community. You just need to provide us with food, and at the very least, we can maintain a neutral attitude towards you.]
[You don't want us to become your enemies, do you?]
After seeing this message, Steven became slightly serious.
This was what he wanted to see. Why did she say so much useless stuff before?
These damn social sellers!
"So, many buildings want to take action against me? I don't quite believe it. After all, I'm doing just fine, and no one has come to attack me!" Steven asked tentatively.
Caitlin knew Steven was testing her, but to show sincerity, she had to reveal some information.
So she said, "Steven, you're a smart person and should understand the saying 'An innocent man gets into trouble because of his wealth.' The entire community has thousands of people, all waiting to starve in their homes."
"Only you can ride a snowmobile to find food. If it were you, wouldn't you be envious, jealous, or even hate that person?"
"The reason no one has taken action is that they're weighing the pros and cons. But it's only a matter of time before they do."
"I'm not asking for much, just that you ensure our basic food needs, and our building's people will never take action against you!"
Hearing this, Steven squinted his eyes slightly.
In a sense, this was a threat.
"Are you saying that if I don't agree, the people from Building 9 will attack the people from Building 25, right?" Steven's voice was very cold, filled with killing intent.
Caitlin couldn't help but shiver, but she quickly said firmly, "I believe you won't choose to do that. Being enemies with us won't benefit you at all."
She was so calm because the distance between Building 25 and Building 9 was quite far.
If Steven wanted to lead people to attack, it would be cutting off his retreat.
Moreover, they might be attacked by people from other buildings.
Caitlin explained, "We just need some food, nothing else."
"And with my ability and your strength, we could even rule the entire community in the future!" she said excitedly.
Steven's smile was somewhat contemptuous. "This is the first time I've seen someone beg for food so righteously."
Caitlin was so angry she took a deep breath. "This is cooperation!"
Steven replied indifferently, "Let me think about it and get back to you."
After saying that, he didn't want to continue chatting with Caitlin and closed the chat window.
Steven put his phone on his lap and began to think about how things would develop.
He didn't care about Caitlin.
Just someone from Building 9, no matter how many people she had, it wasn't a problem.
They had no idea how many guns and bullets Steven had!
If they really attacked, Steven alone with an assault rifle and his Supernatural Ability for precise shooting could wipe them all out!
However, the problem was that Caitlin wasn't the only one in the community with such thoughts.
People from the other 29 buildings were all eyeing his snowmobile.
Some impatient ones, or those running out of supplies, might even risk their lives to come after him.
If they really united and attacked Building 25, Steven would have to kill until his hands were sore to finish them all.
Steven looked up at his safe house, which was made of aerospace alloy and capable of withstanding shelling.
Even if the entire community attacked, they couldn't break through the safe house.
Unless they could tear down Building 25, they posed no threat to Steven.
Steven frowned, pondering the question. 'How likely is that?'
'If people from all 29 buildings took action, it could really happen.'
'Currently, the power supply doesn't allow them to use high-power appliances.'
'They can't use jackhammers or drills.'
'They want to tear down a building manually. In this extreme cold and with a severe lack of food to provide energy, it's absolutely impossible!'
'Given their current physical condition, they probably can't even walk outside for long without freezing. They definitely wouldn't have the strength to break walls.'
