Chapter 253 The Missing Student

Lisa showed up at the conference room right on time, just like everyone expected.

Charles eyed her and got up slowly. "Ms. Grant, got any good news for us?"

Lisa kept her usual friendly smile. "I made an exception for you and told Mr. Martin about the situation. He's letting you send someone to check things out, but there's a catch: no team leaders allowed!"

The team leaders in the room exchanged glances, clearly not thrilled.

One of them piped up, "Can we really handle this without sending team leaders to back up Brittany and Zane? They're up against a dangerous individual."

Lisa just smiled. "Zane's a warrior, and Brittany, even though she's a team leader, is more about recon than fighting."

She continued, "You guys are the top combat force at West Mountain Base; we can't risk you. Sending regular soldiers to scout is the best move."

Charles was getting impatient. "Got it! I'll send others."

Lisa nodded, adjusted her black-framed glasses, and left with her usual grace.

As soon as she was gone, the others started voicing their opinions.

Mason Gonzales, the lean guy, grumbled, "Charles, Brittany and Zane are probably up against a tough enemy this time. Can regular soldiers handle it?"

Charles shot him a look and frowned. "Mason, you might be a naturally awakened Psychic with Supernatural abilities, but in terms of combat power, you're not much stronger than the others. Our comrades are well-trained soldiers. Don't underestimate them! Since it's Mr. Martin's order, we follow it."

Ignoring the grumbling team leaders, Charles pulled out a communication device and started contacting other team members to support Brittany and Zane.

Meanwhile, Lily felt a mix of relief and disappointment. She was glad she didn't have to go out, but she also wanted to see the world outside the underground base.

The thing was, since joining the so-called Tiger Special Forces, she hadn't been on any missions.

Now, with Charles arranging for regular team members to handle the mission, she and the other team leaders didn't need to act.

Lily grabbed her broadsword and was about to go rest when someone tapped her on the shoulder. She turned around to see Evelyn Ellis, one of the other two women on the team.

Evelyn looked a bit frail and didn't seem to have a military background, but her eyes were brighter than stars and always had a captivating power.

Evelyn smiled at Lily. "What's up? Bummed you're not going on a mission?"

Lily smiled back. "Yeah, a little bit!"

Evelyn shook her head. "No need to rush! And don't get your hopes up too much. When we special forces team leaders are deployed, it usually means we're dealing with some really tricky problems."

Lily shrugged. "But I've been here for so long and haven't done anything. I'm curious about what I can do for the base."

Evelyn chuckled, "We're like nuclear weapons; we might not get used, but we have to be ready."

She went on, "The world's way more complicated than you think. You're new here, so there's a lot you don't get yet. You'll catch on eventually."

"For now, focus on getting stronger. Supernatural abilities are a gift, and no one knows how far they can go," she advised.

Evelyn's words had a deeper meaning, and Lily felt like she was starting to get it.

But Evelyn didn't say more and left with her usual grace.

Evelyn always had this mysterious vibe, especially when she looked at you, like she could see right through you.

Lily shook her head, deciding not to dwell on it.

She wasn't too worried about Brittany and Zane since she didn't know them well.

Lily left the conference room with her sword.

Back in the living area, she took out her key to enter her room.

Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a familiar figure.

Lily turned sharply and saw a girl who had just finished showering, opening a door nearby.

"Sophia!" Lily called out instinctively.

The girl turned around, and it was indeed her student, Sophia.

Sophia's face lit up when she saw Lily. "Ms. Evans! Great to see you here!"

She ran over, eyes sparkling with excitement.

Lily was just as surprised.

'Isn't Sophia supposed to be with the others in The Fourth Life Warehouse?' Lily wondered and then asked, "What... are you soing here?"

The Second Life Warehouse was a high-level area at West Mountain Base, reserved for Peter's most trusted people and special talents like Lily.

Sophia adjusted her hair and smiled. "I've got some special abilities of my own!"

"You've awakened Supernatural abilities too?" Lily asked, curious.

Sophia's smile turned mysterious. She placed her hand on her chest. "In a way, it's a natural ability!"

Just then, Molly came out, hearing the commotion.

Seeing Lily, Molly's brows furrowed slightly, and her expression turned cold.

"Ms. Evans," Molly said softly.

Lily was even more surprised.

"You both are in the Second Life Warehouse? What about the other students?" she asked.

Molly and Sophia's expressions changed subtly.

They turned their heads, clearly not wanting to talk about the others.

"Ms. Evans, we're part of the Second Life Warehouse now. You don't need to worry about those in The Fourth Life Warehouse," Molly said.

"People aren't equal. Once we're in different classes, we can't interact like before," Sophia added.

Lily looked at the two girls in shock, feeling a surge of anger.

"How can you say that? They're your classmates, and you've been through so much together. How can you just brush it aside like it means nothing?" she retorted.

Molly looked up at her, sneering. "Ms. Evans, do you have the right to say that? Weren't you the first to abandon us students?"
