Chapter 83 The Attacker

Steven said calmly, "It's really hard to find supplies outside. As soon as I went out, I scoured all the nearby supermarkets and malls I could remember."

"But the malls around here were already looted. Nothing was left!"

"But I didn't give up. I knew everyone was counting on me. To make sure they would have something to eat, I was determined to find food and bring it back, even if I had to search all of Starlight City!"

"Reluctantly, I roamed around the city and finally managed to get these things from a mall."

Steven handed two bags to Henry and went back to open the door for Elinor, guiding her downstairs.

Then, he sent a message in the group chat, calling the neighbors to come and get the food.

Before long, the neighbors swarmed in.

The stairs were packed with people, layer upon layer. These thin, hungry neighbors stared intently and greedily at the bags in front of Steven.

Some people were itching to move, even considering snatching the bags.

But when they saw the gun in Steven's right hand, they became fearful.

Steven squinted and smiled, "I put in a lot of effort to get these supplies for you all!"

He signaled Elinor to open the bags.

She complied, unzipping the bags and dumping the contents onto the ground.

A large pile of food appeared before everyone.

There were vegetables, meat, bread, and cookies!

Although their quality seemed questionable ,and most of these would have been discarded in the past, now, these long-starved neighbors were almost in tears at the sight of them!

Henry raised his fist and shouted, "Steven! Steven!"

The neighbors quickly caught on and raised their fists, shouting along.

"Steven! Steven!"

"Steven, you are our hero!"

At this moment, even if Steven asked them to crawl over like dogs, they would obediently comply.

The temptation of food was too great.

In the crowd, Alice and Ivy struggled to push their way through.

Both of them looked extremely disheveled, with greasy, messy hair, like two madwomen.

Seeing the food Steven had brought back, Alice excitedly waved and shouted, "Honey, it's me, Alice!"

She looked at Steven like a hero, feeling very proud.

She still believed Steven loved her; even though he had Elinor by his side, he must still have feelings for her.

So, she was sure Steven would give her more food.

Ivy, standing beside her, pleaded bitterly, "Alice, we are best friends! Please ask Steven to give me a bit more food!"

Alice glanced at Ivy with disgust and pushed her away.

"Get lost! You bitch!"

Their scuffle made Steven frown.

Immediately, someone growled at them, "Stop causing trouble. Listen to Mr. Rogers!"

The people around glared at Alice and Ivy, making them quiet down significantly.

Alice muttered, "Why are you being so fierce? Don't you know my relationship with Steven?"

Seeing everyone calm down, Steven said, "I went through a lot of trouble to get these supplies. My intention, of course, is to share them with everyone."

His tone suddenly turned cold. "But, in these dire times, I absolutely won't support useless people! If you eat this food, you must take up arms and fight the enemy."

"If anyone dares to eat but not work, I guarantee they'll vomit more than they ate!" he added.

Seeing the gun in Steven's hand and the food on the ground, everyone nodded, submitting to Steven's authority.

"Alright, let's distribute the food!"

Steven said, preparing to call names.

At that moment, two arms appeared outside the fourth-floor window.

Several workers from the Rapids gang broke in.

They saw the food on the ground, and their eyes lit up with excitement!

"Great, there are so much food. We won't go hungry anymore!"

One worker said excitedly.

"Stop talking, let's grab it!"

Four workers pulled out weapons and charged at Steven.

These people were truly ruthless; even though there were dozens of people in front of them, they didn't care because they could see that most of the others were sheep with very few capable fighters.

Steven's pupils contracted, and he instinctively drew his gun to aim at them.

But suddenly, he changed his mind.

He didn't fire but retreated, shouting, "This food is for you, don't let them take it!"

"Anyone who takes one of them down, I'll reward with food for five people!"

Hearing this, the previously fearful neighbors who only wanted to flee stopped in their tracks.

Right, Steven brought this food to them.

If it got taken, what would they eat?

Food was life; without it, they would still die.

Moreover, Steven promised to reward anyone who took down an enemy with food for five people!

The neighbors looked around. There were dozens of them; what were they afraid of?

Several young men took the lead, pulling out weapons and charging forward.

Nowadays, everyone carried weapons when they went out, so it was very convenient to draw them.

Steven retreated to the back, holding his gun and aiming at the front to prevent anyone from stealing food in the chaos.

The four Rapids gang members were caught off guard. They had thought these people would be scared and run, but for some reason, they suddenly charged like they were on adrenaline!

In the blink of an eye, everyone was in a chaotic fight.

The space on the fourth floor wasn't large, and with dozens of people crammed together, the sounds of weapons clashing filled the air.

For food, everyone fought desperately, and the extreme cold made injuries less painful.

Soon, people started getting hurt.

But as long as they weren't down, they kept swinging their weapons desperately.

Henry was a main fighter, swinging an iron rod fiercely, shouting as he struck.

The four Rapids gang members, despite their fearlessness, couldn't withstand so many people. They were quickly overwhelmed.

The air was filled with the sounds of people's roars. It was a release of emotions.

After all, they had been living in fear of death and constant attacks from the Rapids gang.

So, swiftly dealing with four Rapids gang members made them feel much better.

Their fear of the Rapids gang also diminished significantly.

After the fight, six people were lying on the ground.

Besides the four Rapids gang members, two were neighbors.

Elinor frowned slightly at this sight.

As a professional surgeon, she knew these two might still be saved.

However, it would require professional surgical conditions, lots of medication, and blood transfusions.

Given the current survival conditions, that was simply impossible.

She sighed helplessly, "Is this what the apocalypse looks like?"
