Chapter 320 Chase and Escape
Henry had just gotten his second dose of the stimulant, and thanks to his special self-healing powers, he was bouncing back fast.
The regular soldiers behind Henry were already taken care of. Mason was held up by Earl, and with Steven's Dimension Door in the way, Charles couldn't get through either.
But Steven knew what Charles was thinking.
With Charles' skills, if he wanted to chase, Steven had no chance of getting away.
"So, this is how it's gonna be, huh? I thought I could wrap this war up easily, but I guess not," Steven muttered.
But it was cool; a face-off with Charles and the other Psychics was something he had planned for.
"Steven." Just then, a woman stepped out from behind Charles and softly called his name.
Steven looked at her instinctively.
Their eyes locked.
Steven felt like her pupils were deep, dark abysses, pulling him in.
Her name was Evelyn, a powerful Illusionist who could hypnotize people. Especially when you looked into her eyes, her power got even stronger.
Suddenly, Evelyn covered her eyes and screamed.
Steven stood there, totally fine, but Evelyn looked seriously hurt, twitching on the ground.
Not just Evelyn, but Charles and the others were also caught in an illusion.
"Sorry, my extradimensional space can even bounce back brainwaves!" Steven sneered.
Even though brainwaves are invisible, they still travel physically and can't get through Steven's Dimension Door.
Trying that trick on him was a bad move.
Steven had studied their powers inside out and was ready for Evelyn's mental attacks.
So, instead of hurting Steven, Evelyn ended up messing up herself and her team.
With them all disoriented, Steven didn't attack because close combat wasn't his thing.
Getting out of there was the best move!
"Fluffy!" Steven called out.
Fluffy, at his feet, barked and started to grow!
Charles was the first to snap out of it, breaking free from the illusion with his strong willpower.
Even though he had heard about Fluffy, seeing a mutated cat in person was still a shock.
They had almost no intel on Fluffy.
Because of the space, Fluffy only grew to about 6.5 feet tall and 16.5 feet long.
"Let's go!" Steven jumped onto Fluffy's back first, then helped the others get on.
Lily grabbed Steven's hand, flipped over, and landed lightly in front of him.
"Earl, let's move!" Steven got Henry up and then told Earl to stop fighting.
Earl quickly backed off, and the passage filled with white steam, blocking the view. Mason, worried about hitting his own people, didn't dare to use his flames.
This gave them a chance to escape.
Fluffy turned and bolted out of the passage.
Steven pulled back his Dimension Door. But before he did, he tossed a bunch of grenades and explosives through it.
As Fluffy rounded the corner, Steven hit the detonation switch in his hand!
The explosives on the ground and the ones in The Second Life Warehouse that hadn't been dismantled blew up at the same time.
In the underground space, flames flickered, and deafening explosions echoed.
Earl asked Steven, worried, "Captain Rogers, won't that big guy get blown up?"
Steven said seriously, "No! We left a bunch of small bombs to throw them off, and with the bad lighting, they won't find the explosives in the corners that fast. I'll blow it up once we're out!"
Fluffy was sprinting like mad towards the exit of West Mountain Base.
Back at the explosion site, a thick layer of ice shielded Charles and the others, keeping them safe from the blast.
Charles then smashed through the thick ice in front of him, his eyes blazing with raw fury.
"Chase!!" he yelled, charging forward like a raging tornado!
Shane roared, morphing into a massive Ice and Snow Giant Ape, scooping up Clay and barreling ahead.
Behind Shane, Aiden's body twisted, his clothes ripping as his muscles swelled.
Aiden transformed into a grotesque monster, with arms dragging on the ground, a twisted face, and green goo dripping from his mouth. You'd barely recognize him as human without a closer look.
Aiden roared, grabbing Evelyn with one hand and Mason with the other, and followed closely behind.
Steven and his crew were riding Fluffy, racing outside, with the sound of their pursuers getting louder and louder.
Earl started to panic, "Captain Rogers, drop some bombs to slow them down!"
But Steven shook his head. "No, I'm not that low. If they want to chase, let them chase."
The three people with him couldn't help but give Steven a long look after hearing that.
Coming from Steven, that statement was pretty hard to believe.
Steven was always the type to do whatever it took to get what he wanted!
But they knew Steven had his reasons, so they didn't argue.
The extradimensional space was one of Steven's biggest aces, and he had bigger plans for it, so he wasn't going to use it lightly.
If he used it again, the enemy would be on guard. Now wasn't the time.
Earl raised his submachine gun, firing downwards with a roar.
Even though those bullets couldn't hurt Charles, they could slow him down a bit.
Seconds later, Fluffy burst out of the cave entrance, reaching the surface outside West Mountain Base.
Not long after, Charles emerged from underground. He didn't rush to attack but stared at Steven and the others from a distance of several dozen feet.
At this distance, Charles wasn't worried about Steven escaping.
Steven's Dimension Door was unbeatable in one direction, but Charles was too fast. He could dance around the teleport, striking from angles Steven couldn't anticipate.
Even if Steven tried to escape by car, Charles could shoot and wreck the vehicle.
Unless there was a top-tier defensive structure like a shelter, Charles' personal strength was a huge threat!
Earl swallowed hard, "Captain Rogers, what do we do?"
Steven got off Fluffy. Even though carrying four people wasn't too much for Fluffy, it did slow him down a lot.
There was no way they could make it back to the shelter from here.
And trying to escape by car in front of a bunch of elite soldiers would be a joke.
Steven figured those soldiers could shoot out his car tires with their eyes closed.
Moments later, the other Psychics showed up.
They stood behind Charles, glaring at Steven like they wanted to tear him apart.
All the captain-level Psychics of West Montain Base were here!
The pressure was intense, and the air was thick with tension.
"Now, let's see where you can run! There's no shelter here for you to hide!" Charles sneered, his smile cold and filled with murderous intent and a hint of vengeful excitement!
Steven sighed softly. "Why can't you just let go of this hatred?"
