Chapter 177 Competing for the Position

Steven arranged a room for Elinor on the second floor, where his room was also located.

After explaining the basic requirements, he instructed Elinor to tidy up the room.

Elinor obediently went to do so, and after she left, Nora let out a long sigh of relief.

She looked at Steven and said sincerely, "Steven, thank you for not mentioning anything about us."

"I already owe her. So, I hope you can keep our relationship a secret from her," she added.

Knowing that Steven was Elinor's boyfriend made Nora feel a strong sense of guilt.

Steven showed an exaggerated smile.

Although the house was big, with three people living together, it wouldn't be easy to keep Elinor from finding out.

Nora's request was essentially self-deception.

However, he had no reason to refuse.

"First of all, Elinor and I haven't explicitly defined our relationship as boyfriend and girlfriend." He nodded with a smile. "But since you said so, I'll respect your wishes."

Nora didn't expect Steven to agree so readily.

She let out a long breath and bowed to Steven, "Thank you!"

"Suit yourself!"

Steven lazily lay on the couch.

Free from the confines of the Sunshine Community, he could finally embrace a life of comfort and leisure.

With two lovely ladies tending to the housework, his days were filled with gaming, delectable meals, and pure enjoyment. It was the life of a winner!

'Wait, everyone else is struggling in the apocalypse?' He thought with great joy, 'What does that have to do with me?'

Nora then said, "I'll go make dinner!"

Steven was a bit surprised. "You can cook?"

Nora's face showed a proud expression. "Of course! Don't think that just because I'm a star, I'm useless in real life. When I'm bored, I like to cook to relieve stress."

She walked to the open kitchen in the corner of the living room, bent down, and started looking for ingredients in the cabinets.

"Why is there nothing to eat here?" she asked.

Seeing this, Steven walked over to her side. "If you need any ingredients, just let me know."

After saying that, he took out a large pile of ingredients from the extradimensional space and placed them on the table. "Is this enough?"

Nora's eyes widened in surprise at the sight of the many ingredients that appeared out of nowhere.

"Chicken, duck, fish, pork, and even some rare ingredients! My God, how do you have all these things?" Nora could hardly believe her eyes.

She hadn't seen these ingredients in a long time.

And they didn't look like they had been frozen for a long time; they were very fresh.

Even though the food was raw, Nora found herself unable to resist. She felt a surge of appetite welling up from deep within her.

Steven whispered beside her, "From now on, we'll eat like this at home!"

Nora felt a huge sense of relief.

She had thought that the food Steven had was just some canned goods and cured meat.

However, to her delightful surprise, the reality was far more impressive. The abundance of food filled her with a sense of security and relief.

"Okay." She pursed her lips, her eyes full of joy.

Steven said, "You go ahead. I'll explain everything to you later."

He secretly kissed her on the cheek, then turned and left with a smile.

Nora gave him a helpless glance, then eagerly selected a few ingredients and started making dinner.

After a while, Elinor came downstairs after tidying up the room.

Steven saw that Nora was still cooking, which would take a while.

So, he stretched and went to take a shower.

Elinor, feeling bored, sat on the couch and turned on the TV to watch some recordings.

After his shower, Steven came out wearing a loose set of pajamas.

In the living room, Nora was still focused on cooking.

Since it was the first time the three of them were eating together, she was putting a lot of effort into it.

Nora was probably also feeling guilty towards Elinor.

However, Elinor's complaints about her wouldn't be so easily dispelled.

When Steven wasn't around, the two of them didn't say a word to each other.

Elinor sat far away on the couch, with her back to Nora, and turned up the volume on the TV.

Steven looked at Nora, then at Elinor, and thought that this kind of life was pretty good.

He walked behind Nora and watched her cook.

Several dishes were already done, smelling delicious and looking very appetizing.

Steven couldn't help but be a little surprised. "Do you really cook for yourself regularly?"

In his mind, a big star like Nora wouldn't know how to cook at all. Cooking? That was impossible.

Nora's lips curled up slightly, "The Yoder family has very strict rules. I learned to cook from my mother when I was very young."

Steven raised an eyebrow, feeling quite pleased.

The house indeed needed a cook.

After all, neither he nor Elinor was particularly good at cooking, and eating the same thing for a long time would get boring.

After a while, Steven, feeling relaxed, took a beer from the fridge and sat down next to Elinor.

Elinor's eyes were glued to the TV screen.

But her face clearly showed a wary expression.

Steven glanced at her, a strange smile on his lips.

"Dinner's ready. Come over here." Nora tried to smile as she called Steven and Elinor to eat.

Elinor bit her lip, unwilling to get up, but Steven pulled her over.

Nora smoothed her hair, her face showing a bit of awkwardness.

'My relationship with Steven... Elinor shouldn't have noticed, right?' she thought hopefully.

Steven, smiling, pulled Elinor to sit next to him. "Come, try Nora's cooking."

There were four dishes on the table: Macaroni and Cheese, Pulled Pork Ribs, Fried Chicken, and Fried Green Tomatoes.

Elinor took a bite of the Macaroni and Cheese and snorted disdainfully.

"It's too salty! How am I supposed to eat this?"

Nora kept her head down, eating, not knowing how to explain.

She had indeed been startled by Steven earlier, making it hard to control the seasoning.

Steven saw this and smiled inwardly.

He intentionally wanted the two women to compete and not get along.

If they united, they would turn against Steven.

Moreover, when he found out they were cousins, Steven became more cautious.

'If they are cousins, won't I be the outsider?' he thought at that time.

Although these two women weren't stupid, the possibility of them teaming up against Steven and taking over the house wasn't entirely out of the question.

Of course, it was a small probability, as all the supplies were in Steven's extradimensional space.

Without Steven, the house would be useless to them.

But being cautious never hurt.

So, he intentionally got close to Elinor in front of Nora.

It would be strange if Elinor didn't notice anything.

Steven, smiling, looked at the still sulking Elinor and gave her some fried green tomatoes.

"Here, try this! It's good for you," he said.

Elinor's expression softened a bit, and she opened her mouth to Steven.

Steven smiled and put the food in her mouth.

As Elinor savored the bite, her eyes sparkled with mischief, and she used her small tongue to lick her lips, giving Steven a flirtatious glance that spoke volumes.

At the same time, she glanced at Nora, as if declaring her territory.

Steven was overjoyed.

Indeed, competition was the best way to motivate employees!
