Chapter 235 The Network Intruder

Fluffy caused a ton of chaos on its first day home.

The shelter was massive, and it wanted to check out every nook and cranny.

Steven was super chill, letting it leave paw prints everywhere and even knock over some antique sculptures.

The trick to bonding with a cat was building trust early on. Mess that up, and it would be tough to fix later.

After half a day of causing trouble, Fluffy finally got tired and sprawled out in front of the fireplace.

Steven sighed in relief, glad Fluffy was finally settling in. He carefully approached to pet its head.

Fluffy glanced at him, and they had a brief staring contest before it relaxed again.

Steven thought, 'Dealing with women is never this tricky!' and petted Fluffy's head.

Fluffy purred, accepting Steven as its caretaker.

Steven felt totally at ease and smiled genuinely. Adopting Fluffy brought him immense joy.

Fluffy's presence also brought new happiness to the shelter. The girls competed to feed and pet it.

But for some reason, Fluffy preferred Steven, even sleeping at the head of his bed at night. Cindy, who had fed it before, was now second in Fluffy's heart.

Maybe cats just like guys more!

Meanwhile, Cindy and Aubrey were busy.

Cindy handled the shelter's network security. With her skills and the supercomputer, no one could break in.

But Cindy, being a top hacker, didn't just defend. She counter-attacked and quickly traced the source of the intrusion.

When Steven got the news, he rushed to the control room. "Cindy, you called me over urgently. Did you find something?"

Cindy grinned. "I found the hacker!"

She showed Steven a map of Starlight City on her laptop.

Steven saw a pentagram marking Emerald Estate and a flashing red dot marking the intruder's location.

Cindy explained, "The intruder is at the junction of the southwest part of West Mountain District and the northwest area of Eternal River District, about 18 miles from here."

"So close?" Steven's expression turned serious.

He hadn't expected such a powerful group to be so nearby.

Cindy, however, was calm. "Their tech is pretty basic, probably a second-rate engineer. I hacked them easily."

She continued, "Their data is encrypted, so it'll take some time to crack. But from what we've got, there's definitely a big organization in West Mountain District."

Cindy looked up, her light blue eyes meeting his calmly. "We might run into them soon."

Steven crossed his arms and said, "What's destined to happen will happen. I don't seek conflict, but I'm prepared to face it. If anyone messes with my peace, I'll take them down."

Steven wasn't the same as before. He had a fortress and a team of elite subordinates, including three Psychics, himself included.

Even against a powerful armed group, he felt confident.

"Cindy, keep tracking their signal and cracking the data. I need more info on that organization." He patted her shoulder and left the control room to find Aubrey.

With his help, Aubrey's mechanical workshop was up and running.

As a genius recruited by the Innovation Academy, Aubrey was a pro in mechanics.

While she couldn't handle super-precise instruments alone, weapons and ammo were no big deal for her.

By 2050, industrialization had advanced a lot.

Some people could print their own firearms with a 3D printer, and making bullets and explosives wasn't too hard.

Aubrey was now mass-producing bullets for Steven, mainly sniper and pistol rounds.

Steven knocked on the workshop door. "Aubrey, it's me."

The door opened, and the sound of clanging filled the air.

Steven walked in and immediately felt the heat, even sweating in his light clothes.

At the workbench, Aubrey wore shorts, a green tank top, and a black leather apron. She was drenched in sweat, her hair sticking together.

Seeing Steven, she greeted him with a bright smile, "Mr. Rogers, what brings you here?"

Steven smiled back. "Just checking on your progress!"

Aubrey, only eighteen and with an innocent personality, felt like a little sister to him.

She smiled proudly and grabbed something from a nearby shelf. "Mr. Rogers, check this out!"

Steven took it and saw it was a silencer for a sniper rifle.

His eyes lit up. "Good stuff!"

This was crucial for him.

Steven's Supernatural ability, Precision Shooting, could double the power of firearms.

He could take out enemies from 9840 feet with a sniper rifle! The only issue was the noise attracting enemies.

With a silencer, that problem was solved.

Now, he could sneak attack and leave without worrying about giving away his position.
