Chapter 472 A Man's Pain
Chase and Dione saw everything that went down with Delbert. They were beyond pissed, but more than that, they felt totally lost and hopeless.
This was all Natasha's doing, and now they needed the Snowfall Cult's protection just to stay alive.
So, getting revenge for Delbert or even seeking justice was out of the question.
But they couldn't wrap their heads around why Natasha went off the deep end over love.
Ever since joining the cult and learning about that weird initiation ceremony, Chase had a bad feeling about Natasha.
Why castrate young boys but let grown men off the hook?
What was the deal with that?
Meanwhile, Neil took Natasha back to her room behind the church.
Natasha slowly came to, and for the first time, she looked a bit weak and confused.
She glanced up at Neil. "I didn't do anything wrong, did I? That kind of thing is wrong in itself. I was just helping them find the right path."
Neil nodded.
She sat on the bed while he knelt in front of her, looking up at her.
"You did nothing wrong; it was that kid's fault! n the apocalypse, love is pointless, and impure relationships between men and women should be banned."
Natasha sighed. "They might not get me."
As she spoke, a bright smile spread across her face, and she reached out to touch Neil's cheek.
"If only all men could be like you. Then this world wouldn't be so messed up."
Natasha's cold hand made Neil look even more submissive.
"This world will be just like you want it!" he whispered.
Natasha pulled her hand back.
Her face returned to the calm and authoritative look of the Snowfall Cult leader.
"That kid is Chase's son. He won't have any feelings, will he?"
Neil said, "I'll talk to him and make him see your good intentions. I think he'll get it!"
Natasha nodded and didn't say anything else.
Chase's skills were super useful to them, and he wasn't a threat. People like him were their favorites.
So they still needed to keep him on their side.
If Natasha hadn't been triggered by the scene between Delbert and Clio, she wouldn't have done what she did.
And Clio lied about one thing—what she and Delbert did wasn't just a kiss.
After facing life and death, human instincts get stronger, and there's a desperate need to pass on their DNA.
And these two teenagers, in the apocalypse where nothing's off-limits, started to explore the forbidden fruit.
Unfortunately, they ran into the wrong person at the wrong time.
Chase and Dione were devastated, but they knew getting justice was a long shot.
At least Delbert was still alive.
And in the apocalypse, losing sexual ability might not be such a big deal.
As long as Delbert was alive, they had some comfort.
But while Chase and Dione thought this way, Delbert didn't.
When Delbert woke up and realized his genitals were gone, he nearly lost it!
A teenage boy, who had found the girl he loved in the apocalypse, suddenly lost the ability to have sex with her?
Delbert went nuts, screaming and even trying to hurt himself. "What's the point of living!"
Dione could only cry and try to comfort him over and over again.
As for Clio, she watched Delbert from a distance, crying silently, but she didn't have the courage to go to him.
It wasn't that she didn't care, but she knew seeing her would only make things worse for Delbert.
That afternoon, Chase, who had been down all day, got a visitor—High Priest Neil.
Seeing Neil, Chase felt a wave of anger, but he still forced himself to be polite. "Mr. Torres."
Neil walked over, looking at Chase.
From Chase's face, he could see the displeasure.
But one thing was clear—Chase was good at keeping his cool.
He didn't yell like a typical dad or rush to fight Natasha or Neil.
But Neil knew he needed to give a reasonable explanation.
If he couldn't, Chase might not be as dedicated to his work in the future, and that wouldn't be good for the Snowfall Cult.
"How's your son?" Neil asked slowly.
Chase frowned. "The physical wounds are healing, but the emotional wounds might never heal."
"A man, if he loses his genitals, he can never hold his head high."
Hearing this, Neil's face twitched, and he looked a bit uncomfortable.
He coughed slightly, "Your son is lucky to be purified only now. But he shouldn't have had sex with a woman in front of Ms. Carter."
Maybe influenced by Chase's words, Neil's voice got a bit shaky, making Chase feel a bit weird.
But soon Neil's voice got firm again. "The Snowfall Cult is a big group, with thousands of followers at its peak!"
"If not properly managed, it can easily lead to chaos. And love is more likely to be the root of chaos."
"Adults can control themselves, but teenagers acting on impulse are the real problem."
"In the apocalypse, all order and laws are out the window. If they fight or kill each other for love, or accidentally get pregnant, don't you think it would be a huge burden on the group?"
He advised in a deep voice, "All of this is for the good of the Snowfall Cult. You're a smart man, you should get this. And your son's situation isn't about targeting you, others are the same."
Chase was silent for a long time before nodding. "You're right."
Neil looked at Chase, who was listening with his head down, and frowned slightly.
Soon he relaxed and said, "From today, your son can get an extra portion of nutrition. And don't let this affect your work."
Chase nodded. "I understand."
