Chapter 208 Three Psychics

The phone call abruptly ended, leaving only the busy signal echoing in the control room.

Steven sat in his chair, his eyes slightly lowered, deep in thought.

He originally thought it was just a simple rescue mission.

But now it seemed there was more trouble involved.

And he really didn't like trouble.

At this moment, Nora suddenly clutched Steven's arm nervously, saying, "Steven..."

Her eyes were full of pleading, even brimming with tears. Cindy's danger made her extremely anxious, and she could only beg Steven to save her.

Steven looked at Nora and Elinor, smiled slightly, and said, "Don't worry, I said I would save her, and I will."

Although things might be a bit troublesome, for the current Steven, it wasn't a difficult task.

After all, he now had two Psychic helpers.

He called Henry over to act as the tank and clear the way, Earl as the control mage, and Steven would find the right moment to strike from the back.

If things went south, Steven could also be the first to escape.

This formation was simply perfect!

At the onset of the post-apocalyptic world, a trio of Psychics could sweep through most areas with ease!

Besides, he really needed a top-notch computer expert right now.

Hearing Steven's promise, Nora and Elinor both felt relieved.

After comforting them, Steven went back to contact Henry and Earl, asking them to accompany him.

Henry agreed without hesitation.

Earl didn't dare to go against Steven's wishes and agreed, thinking it was just a simple search and rescue mission.

Since they discovered that Cindy's condition was critical, Steven didn't delay and asked them to prepare to set off for Innovation Academy the next day.

As for the creepy, shrill scream he heard on the phone, Steven could roughly guess what it was.

It was either a genetically mutated Psychic or some other mutated creature.

Although it sounded terrifying, the fact that Cindy, a girl with paralyzed legs, could survive for a month indicated that the creature wasn't something the three Psychics couldn't handle.

The night before departure, Steven checked his weapons and equipment in his room.

Since he might face mutants, he had to be more cautious than when dealing with ordinary people.

He even replaced his handguns with two more powerful models, loaded with armor-piercing bullets.

These handguns had greater recoil, but their power was absolutely reliable.

Steven prepared other equipment as usual.

He carried the convenient items on his person, while the larger weapons were stored in the extradimensional space, all loaded and ready to fire at any time.

The next morning, Nora and Elinor got up early to prepare a hearty breakfast for Steven.

Of course, Steven wouldn't take them out.

Although the two women had experienced some brutal scenes, they would probably be too scared to move in a life-and-death situation.

They had no combat ability and would only be a burden.

Looking at the table full of food, Steven didn't eat much, just tasted a bit of each dish.

Eating too much can hinder movement, and it was especially important to limit soup. If he had to pee urgently, he might freeze his cock in this weather.

Steven had suffered from it before, so he never ate too much or drank too much water before going out.

Of course, if his physical exertion was too great, there was enough food and water in The extradimensional space to replenish him.

After breakfast, Steven's phone rang. It was Earl calling.

He picked up the phone and answered, "Hello."

Earl said, "Mr. Rogers, I've crossed the river! I'm waiting for you by the roadside!"

Earl knew that the area around Steven Rogers's house was full of traps and didn't dare to come over.

Even now, some of his relatives were still buried under that snowfield.

"Wait for me a bit. I'll be right there." Steven hung up the phone.

He said to Nora and Elinor, who were looking at him eagerly, "I'm leaving now. While I'm gone, you should stay in the basement to ensure your safety."

Nora asked naively, "Why go to the basement? Isn't this house very safe?"

Elinor tugged at her clothes, saying, "Just go if he tells you to!"

She knew Steven very well and understood his intentions.

The information was provided by Nora and Elinor, and the person to be rescued was their sister.

So, it was possible that this was a trap they had set up together to deceive Steven.

Although this possibility was very slim from various angles, Steven never believed in probability. He only believed in himself.

Nora felt puzzled but still followed Steven and Elinor to the basement.

Steven locked them in separate alloy rooms and closed the doors with his highest authority key.

No one could open the doors to let them out until he returned.

"Even if someone breaks in, they won't be able to threaten your safety now," Steven said with a smile.

He left them enough food and water, and there was an independent bathroom inside, so they didn't have to worry about cleanliness.

Elinor smiled gently. "Thank you, Steven! We'll wait for you to come back!"

Nora roughly understood what was going on. Although being suspected made her feel uncomfortable, she wasn't angry since Steven was going to save her sister.

"Steven, you must bring Cindy back safely!" Nora clasped her hands together, praying nervously.

Steven touched his nose and smiled. "As long as she's safe when I get there, I'll definitely bring her back to you in one piece!"

After getting Steven's promise, Nora patted her chest and breathed a sigh of relief.

She blew a kiss to Steven. "When you come back, I'll keep you company!"

"You're making me want to come back sooner! I'd hate to leave you feeling like you're missing out," Steven said with a grin.

Sweet talk came easily to him. Though it was cheap, it was very effective.

Nora bit her lip shyly and murmured, "I'm happy you care about me."

This time, Steven's promise to help her rescue Cindy made her feel a very subtle change in her heart.

She thought Steven was willing to take the risk for her.

If this wasn't love, what was there to look forward to?

A ripple gently spread in her heart, lingering for a long time.

Steven locked the two women in the alloy room and walked out of the house, exhaling deeply.

If he could, he wouldn't want to be on guard even against those around him.

But given the circumstances, to live safely, he had to be cautious in everything, without the slightest negligence.

Besides, the basement was very comfortable and warm, and he had left enough food. They were definitely more comfortable than Steven, who was out risking his life.

Reflecting on this, Steven didn't see any problem with his actions anymore.
