Chapter 71 I'm Afraid She'll Misunderstand

Elinor's proactive approach made Steven feel a touch of happiness and warmth.

Although he wasn't easily influenced by women, he still needed tenderness and care.

Elinor was undoubtedly a beauty, so it was reasonable that she had an influence on him.

He also enjoyed the process of her coming closer to him.

A twisted pleasure arose in Steven's heart.

If Alice saw how intimate he and Elinor were, would she go mad?

With that thought, Steven immediately picked up his phone and took a selfie of the two of them.

In the photo, Elinor was snuggling next to him, holding his arm tightly.

Then, he sent the photo to Alice.

Two voice messages followed. "Alice, you're a good girl. But unfortunately, you came too late. I've found someone better now."

"You'll wish us well, won't you?"

Alice was still desperately trying to grab her phone.

Suddenly, the phone chimed, and all three of them hurriedly looked over at the notification.

Every message from Steven was their hope for survival.

But what they saw was a photo of Elinor and Steven looking like a couple.

Elinor's education, talent, and looks made them feel inferior.

Alice didn't have a high education and worked as a warehouse clerk.

Compared to a high-quality woman like Elinor, Alice had completely lost!

So, intense jealousy burned wildly within her!

She hastily said, "Darling, no! You can't do this to me. Alice loves you, Alice loves you the most."

"She must be lying to you. She doesn't really like you! Give me a chance, and I'll prove that I'm the one who truly loves you!"

Steven sneered and said, "No need. Elinor and I are truly in love. She's so much better than you. Why would I give her up for you? Do you think you're worthy?"

"So let's not contact each other anymore. I don't want her to misunderstand." Steven knew that his words would drive Alice mad because he understood that he was Alice's last hope in this post-apocalyptic world.

To personally extinguish someone's last hope was such a wonderful thing, especially in this manner.

Alice always thought of herself as a noble woman, never lacking male admirers.

But today, another woman had taken her man.

And crucially, that woman was indeed better and prettier than her.

This pain and despair were doubled!

She regretted so much that she wanted to beat herself up, questioning why she hadn't made the right choice back then and married such a good man like Steven!

As Steven expected, Alice nearly went crazy, screaming hysterically from deep within her throat. "I don't believe it, I don't believe it!"

"Steven, you clearly liked me all along! You liked me for two years, so why don't you like me now when I've become so proactive?"

"That bitch, why did you steal what's mine! You deserve to die!"

"Yes, Elinor, it's all that bitch's fault!"

Ivy and Grace saw Steven's message and pointed at Alice, laughing mockingly.

"Bitch, you're just delusional. This outcome is entirely your fault!" her once best friend Ivy yelled out.

"Your current state is not surprising at all!" she continued scolding angrily, her eyes full of disdain.

Alice's eyes turned red, and when she tried to message Steven again, she found that he had blocked her.

This meant that Steven no longer wanted to deal with her at all.

Soon, she would die in this post-apocalyptic world, and Steven's torment and humiliation of her brought him satisfaction.

Steven put down his phone, a happy smile on his face.

The more this bitch suffered, the happier he was.

Elinor leaned tightly against him, looking up at him curiously.

Steven turned his head, and their eyes met.

He suddenly frowned and gripped her hand tightly. "Do you think I'm cruel?"

Elinor's breathing became rapid, and her face flushed with nervous excitement.

"You... you must have your reasons for doing this."

Steven's eyes grew deep.

He thought back to how Alice had treated him in his previous life.

He had given her everything, only to be betrayed. She had tricked him into opening his door, leading to him being torn apart by neighbors.

That kind of excruciating pain was unimaginable.

After all, he had to watch them cut off his limbs with blunt knives.

"As long as you understand." Steven didn't want to explain further; he couldn't explain it anyway.

After all, those things had nothing to do with Elinor.

After Steven and Elinor killed Andrew, life became much quieter for him. At least no one was constantly knocking on his door or sending people to spy on him.

Andrew didn't even know that Steven killed him mainly because he was too annoying.

The atmosphere in Building 25 relaxed a bit; it wasn't as oppressive as before.

Steven knew this was just a facade. The further into the apocalypse they went, the more twisted human nature would become.

Even without Andrew, those who had tasted flesh might still kill.

But, as always, what did that have to do with him?

That morning, Steven got up and went to Elinor's door to help her open it.

Elinor flushed as she went to the bathroom, then came back to prepare breakfast for Steven.

Her cooking skills were average, but still better than Steven's.

Occasionally, when Steven wanted fresh food, he would have her cook something.

Of course, before eating, Steven would have Elinor taste it first; then he would eat.

While eating, Steven would browse Facebook and some still-operational news sites.

Nowadays, only a few apps were still functioning, mostly maintained by the authorities.

In the extreme cold, most people couldn't survive.

But the government always had disaster response plans, allowing some so-called important figures to survive.

Suddenly, he saw a familiar person in a chat group.

It was that hypocritical middle-aged woman, Clara.

Clara shouted, "The snowstorm is almost over! My brother is an official in Silvercrest State, and he called to tell me."

"You all need to listen to me now, or he'll throw you all in jail and have you executed!"

"Did you hear me? Bring me some food right now!"

But no one in the group responded to her.

"She's crazy. But it's a miracle she survived this long! I remember Andrew robbed her first." Steven said casually.

Sitting across from him, Elinor showed a barely noticeable look of sadness.

"When I went to treat Jack, I felt sorry for them, so I gave them some supplies."
