Chapter 333 Defense Plan
Cindy's words made Steven frown slightly. "This I do know."
He spread his hands and said calmly, "In such a large city like Starlight City, it's impossible for West Mountain Base to be the only powerful armed force. After all, this is a mega-city with a population of 20 million. Even if only 5% survived, that's still a million people."
Cindy's smile grew even deeper. "Different forces are still different. What if there are multiple forces as strong as West Mountain Base?"
Steven looked up at the ceiling, the chandelier above was an expensive luxury item worth millions of dollars.
"I can't be unlucky enough to run into other forces again, can I?" Steven muttered.
"But," Steven suddenly changed his tone, "we don't go looking for trouble, but we're not afraid of it either. If we do encounter other forces, with our current strength, we really wouldn't be afraid of them!"
Including Lily, they had a total of five Psychics.
Any force wanting to go against them would have to think twice.
"I understand." Cindy nodded. "I'll organize all the information as soon as possible and hand it over to you!"
"Alright, thank you for your hard work." After Steven finished speaking, he turned to Aubrey, "Aubrey, come over here for a moment."
Aubrey pointed to her nose, a look of surprise on her face.
"Steven, whatever you need me to do, just say the word!" Aubrey said.
In the recent West Mountain battle, she felt she hadn't been much help and was still feeling a bit guilty about it.
Steven said to her, "Here's the thing, now it's not just our family living in Emerald Estate. Earl and Henry's families have also moved in, right around us. If we encounter another invasion, I don't want to be on the defensive like last time. So I want to ask you to help design a blueprint for a fortification. Then we'll build a defensive line around the three families to fend off enemies."
Aubrey said with some confusion, "Designing the blueprint is easy, but to build a large fortification, we don't have enough people, right? Not to mention we're lacking heavy machinery, and transporting materials would be very troublesome."
Steven laughed and asked, "What do you think we're lacking?"
He counted on his fingers. "Transporting materials, I can handle that. If we need manpower, Henry is here. Earl can control ice and snow, and you can use that too. If we need to cut materials, call Lily. Fluffy can also help with the heavy lifting. Do you think that's a problem?"
After thinking for a moment, Aubrey couldn't help but admire. "Yeah! Although we are few, each of us has unique skills. Building an impregnable defensive line doesn't seem impossible now!"
Steven nodded. "You start with the design, and then tell me what materials you need and how to proceed. I'll take care of it."
"Alright, I understand!" Aubrey replied.
Aubrey and Cindy received their new tasks and went back to their respective studios to start working.
In the following days, Steven continued to recuperate.
With Dr. Elinor's attentive care and a well-planned nutritional diet, Steven recovered very quickly.
Within a few days, his discomfort had disappeared.
So, he started getting busy in the new place again.
For over a month, due to the threat from West Mountain Base, he had somewhat neglected Nora and Elinor.
Now that he had more time and energy, he certainly wanted to make it up to them.
The next morning at breakfast, Nora and Elinor were all smiles, looking radiant and more energetic than before.
Steven sat on the couch watching TV while the two women bustled in the kitchen for a while before bringing breakfast to his side.
"Steven, have something to eat to replenish your energy!" Elinor looked at him with sultry eyes, her face showing satisfaction as she thought about last night.
She brought over a bowl of soup, and Steven took it, opening it to find it filled with nourishing ingredients.
"Are you kidding? Do I still need this stuff?" Steven chuckled dismissively and then drank more than half the bowl in one gulp.
To be honest, he was quite tired from last night.
Aubrey pushed Cindy over for breakfast.
Passing by the kitchen, Nora saw their faces and gasped, covering her mouth in suprised. "What happened to you two last night? You look so worn out?"
Aubrey and Cindy turned their heads, not knowing how to explain.
In their hearts, they thought, 'Don't you already know?'
Their rooms were not far apart, and although the soundproofing was pretty good, if the noise was too loud, Nora could still hear it.
It was another pleasant day, and the five of them had breakfast together in the living room.
Now the shelter had returned to its former state, with the luxurious villa exuding tranquility and a very comfortable lifestyle.
As for Henry and Earl, Steven had already provided them with plenty of food, as well as generators, fuel, coal, and other supplies.
They were responsible for tidying up their own houses, while Steven only needed to solve the issues of food and heating. In fact, the other amenities in the villa were very high-end.
After all, it was the top luxury villa area in Starlight City, with everything needed for daily life readily available inside the houses.
However, Steven gave Earl special care.
Earl was still nursing a broken heart and was somewhat afraid of women, so Steven gave him a limited-edition high-end latex realistic girlfriend.
It was the kind with a warming function and intelligent voice capabilities.
It worked best when paired with VR glasses.
As Earl's friend, this was the best Steven could do for him.
After breakfast, it wasn't long before Henry and his wife, along with Earl, came over to visit.
Humans were social animals and needed interaction; otherwise, over time, they may develop psychological issues.
Now that they were all neighbors and had been through life-and-death battles together, their relationships were naturally stronger than before.
Taking this opportunity, Steven called Henry and Earl over to discuss his idea of building a defensive line.
"Centering around our three families, we will build a solid defensive line! This is to prevent a sudden attack where we have no time to react. It doesn't need to be as strong as my shelter, but it should at least give you enough time to escape to the shelter. This way, if we encounter a strong enemy one day, we won't be so passive. Even if the first line of defense is breached, we can still retreat into the shelter and continue to defend."
Steven shared his thoughts.
After listening, Henry and Earl both nodded in agreement.
They were the biggest beneficiaries of this plan.
Earl was so happy that he said on the spot, "Captain Rogers, you and I are really on the same page! To be honest, I'm really worried that one night I'll be sleeping and someone will break in and point a gun at my head!"
As a veteran, Henry offered his own perspective. "If we're going to build a defensive line, it can't just focus on defense. It also needs some offensive capabilities! My suggestion is to set up strong firepower around the defensive line."
Earl asked, "How do we solve the issue of weapons and ammunition?"
Steven said, "That's a simple problem. Aubrey can make bullets, and I have plenty of firearms."
"But considering that anyone daring to attack us would be a powerful armed force, we need heavy firepower." Steven rubbed his chin and decisively said, "In a few days, once we're back to our best condition, let's go to the ruins of West Mountain Base. There are a lot of good things there!"
Although Steven had destroyed West Mountain Base with a scheme, based on the engineering data of West Mountain Base, the explosion of that magnitude couldn't completely destroy its fortifications.
So, Steven's initial goal was to use the explosion to create a severe shock underground, making it easier for him to act.
However, the base was so large, and the underground space was so vast that most areas should have been well-preserved.
And inside, there were a lot of weapons and equipment, including heavy firearms.
Henry and Earl naturally had no objections and nodded in agreement.
"As for the building materials, we can actually solve that through West Mountain Base as well," Henry suggested. "Judging by West Mountain Base's defensive capabilities, it shouldn't be much worse than your shelter. We can dismantle some materials to reinforce our defensive line."
Steven frowned and questioned, "Their construction is all integrated casting; it's not that easy to dismantle!"
Henry thought for a moment and said helplessly, "But where else can we get so many building materials? To build fortifications, we at least need reinforced concrete. Without these, are we supposed to use snow to build the defensive line?"
Henry made a humorous joke, but this sentence gave Steven an idea.
Steven looked at Earl and said meaningfully, "Maybe using ice to build the defensive line is not a bad idea."
Steven shared his thoughts with the two of them.
"Right across is the Mississippi River. We can get a lot of ice from the Mississippi River to use as walls and build the defensive line."
"With the current outside temperature, we don't need to worry about the ice melting, and it's easy to repair. It's actually a very good material!"
"At that time, we can add some steel bars inside as a framework, and we can easily and conveniently build an ice wall!"
